Excellent hotel and spa for those wanting a quiet getaway, to use as a base for Avignon, exploring Provence or both. 35 rooms arranged as chalets around the garden and outside restaurant. Extensive wine cellar. The spa, pool and restaurant were outstanding. The same couple has owned the hotel 30 years and cares deeply about the guests. One of the owners is also the head chef, who cooks traditional french food and clearly takes pride in his work. It's about 8km (5 miles) from Avignon which a little too far to walk but a very short taxi ride. This is actually a plus in July because Avignon center is very crowded due to festival. Taxis and Uber are hard to find in Avignon during the festival so have the hotel arrange for you to be picked up in Avignon. I definitely would not recommend taking a car into Avignon during the festival.
The spa is great and the relaxed atmosphere is also wonderful. The hotel and room decor could use some updating, but the bathrooms were large and modern and the peaceful atmosphere drowns out any aesthetic issues. There isn't anything nearby in the way of shops or restaurants so be prepared to eat at the hotel unless you have a car.
