Perfect situated a short walk from the citys center, very forthcoming receptionists. Needs work on their breakfast. Tasty and perfect meat from the kitchen in the evening, the waiter contributed to the cosy atmosphere.
We stayed here 2 times on our trip to Norway. The hotel is close to the highway but it doesn´t disturb the living here. The rear side is real nice with a view of the river Klarälven and also the possibility to take a walk on close to the river. The hotel pool is nice (but I could my self prefer som more degrees in it). Our second stay was a bit disturb of youngster since a bid floor ball tournament took place at the same time. It made it hard for our small kids to sleep. But it was not a catastrof and everyone with kids understand that they make noise ;-) You can easily walk to teh City center andthere find many restaurants. + Surroundings, great views and walking possibilities ++ Friendly staff, they did what they could to make out stay pleasant. +++ Sleeping comfort, the beds was really nice - Cool pool (according to me) -- A bit dirty in the corners and we found candy in the extra bed --- Noisy younsters (but this is hard for a hotel to control)
This is the second hotel that we stayed in our recent Scandinavia tour. We arrived in Karlstad after touring Stockholm and it was after 6pm when our tour group arrived at the hotel. The hotel looked a bit dated and stretched out over I think 3 separate buildings though it was only 2 storey buildings. The hotel is located closed to mother's nature, with lots of greenery, lake, wooden bridges etc which was great! Lobby was small and after collecting our key, we proceeded to our room. There was only one lift that was small and slow. Our room (180) was located towards the end of the 3rd building and we had to manovoure through the passage way and walked down a flight of stairs. It was quite challenging with our 2 huge trolley luggages. But we still made it! Our room was quite nice and clean though much smaller. Bed was ok and comfortable and with a window view overseeing the lake and greenery. There was no kettle or fridge (no bathtub too). Wifi was free and connection was ok. We had both dinner and breakfast at the cafe. The cafe was cosy and nice though and both were buffet styled. While the food items were not extensive like the others, generally the food was quite nice. We especially liked the pork that was offered during the dinner, was very well cooked and yummy! Service was good as used plates were clearly promptly and staff were friendly. We took a good walk after dinner outside along the lake and it was tranquil and serene. If not of the sudden rain, we would love to walk further and longer. (it was also raining the next day morning which we could not walk) Location was not near to town or to any shopping arcade. But if you like nature and want to get out of the life in the bustling city, this maybe a good place for you to rest well. Overall, our stay here was satisfactory generally!
It was the first trip with our son, and as such. We had many questions prior to choose a hotell in Karlstad. The staff was really helpful and we got all the relevant information, and help. The hotell itself is perfectly situated if you drive (easy to find from the motorway) and just a short walk away from the centrum. Rooms with view to the river are recommended.
As a Scandic friend I usually choose Scandic if it is possible. I and my family were om our way to go skiing. I drive an electric car and the possibility to charge was great. The staff at the reception had great knowledge about that electric facilities and that I had´t expected. The room was nice and clean. When we came we went to the sauna and to the pool and some us went training. In the evening were eating the buffet and it was tasty. The price was affordable. The night was silent. The breakfast was not really as great as on other Scandic hotels.
Perfect location throw the E18, the trafik wasn't disturbing at all. Free parkingspace outside. Friendly staff wich can hela you with restaurants. Close to Karlstad City, you can walk, egen with children.
On our way home from the mountains we spent one night in Karlstad. Verry convenient close to the major roads. As we where traveling with small children it was perfect with the family room and additional cot.
Many guests for dinner and I think that the straff were not enough! One Young lady in the Staff Acted like boss with bad attitude. We had already eaten but We heats a LOT Of guest WHO were refused to have a seat!
The personnel was very friendly and helpful at check-in. The rooms are somewhat old, but maintained and if You have a room towards the riverside You will not be exposed to the noise from the highway. Ok for a nights sleep.
A bit worn but well kept and clean hotel, a 15 minute walk from town centre. (You can rent a bicycle at the hotel, and then you'll be "downtown" in no time. Karlstad is flat and perfect for cycling.) My room (245) was facing the freeway (E18, 50 metres away). In the summertime, with no air condition, that would be a problem. Staying there in September, I could close the window at night. (I could still hear the traffic though.) If you're a light sleeper, I would definitely ask for a room facing the river (east), not the freeway (west). There are several Karlstad hotels within the town centre. If that's important to you, I would pick on of those instead. Disregarding the traffic noise and "remote" location, Scandic Klarälven is a nice hotel.
