The Home Varaville 2 km from Cabourg, 30 m from the beach by a private road. A garden of 400 mÂČ for shared use. A place of parking on the closed ground. Baker, Charcutier at 200 m, restaurant at 300 m, thermal center "Thalazur" at 1 km, golf course 18 holes at 1km.
Semi-detached villa of 80 mÂČ, 4 rooms, on 2 levels. Fully equipped kitchen opening onto a living room with flat screen TV, corner sofa, a bedroom on the ground floor (140 cm bed) with flat screen TV, WC on ground floor. Upstairs: shower room with WC and towel dryer, 1 bedroom with 1 double bed (160 cm), 1 flat screen TV, 1 wardrobe and 1 bedroom with 2 single beds (90 cm) and flat screen TV.
Electric heating, 1 iron with table, garden furniture, parasol, barbecue.
Bed linen and towels are not provided. Housekeeping not included, foresee 60 € in cash to be given at the delivery of the keys imperatively. If no deposit no keys will be given on arrival. If the house is impeccable this sum will be refunded to you at your departure.
A deposit check must be handed in at the entrance of an amount of 500 €.
Check in time is 1 pm (see other options if required), and departure at 10 am.

Une maison idéale pour deux grands-parents et leur petites filles. Bien équipée, d un entretien sans soucis au quotidien. Le jardin est juste assez grand pour bien en profiter et le fait qu il soit clos permet d avoir l esprit tranquille. La plage a deux pas est superbe, le quartier, plein de charme, est trÚs tranquille. La literie est confortable. Seul bémol : la fourniture de draps n est pas comprise et pour 650 la semaine c est un service de base que l on est surpris de ne pas trouver.

Communications and Expectations

The day before we arrived we where asked via text if we need linen and towels. We said yes. The evening we arrived no towels or linen. We called the concierge contact he said sorry and he could not make it that evening so no sheets or towels, but next morning he will come early. So after a long day we had no linen. He did not make it next morning either, we sat all morning waiting, so I bought towels and we went about our day. That evening there where towels and sheets available at the door. So the next day we are traveling in the region and get a call that the concierge is at the house waiting to be paid for the linen. One, we where an hour away, two why would you just show up to the house looking for money, three I didn't know we needed to pay for linen. So we told him we where enjoying our vacation and would talk later. That evening he showed up at the house. He wanted his money for linen, 90 Euros, I was not happy to pay for something we didn't have for 2 days of our stay, he went down to 40 Euros, I just wanted it to be over, so I said OK here is my card. He said no card cash only, I thought that was strange. So I gave him 50 Euro, he said he had no change and would bring 10 euro change in the morning, he never did. This entire inter- action was very strange and didn't seem legitimate.

Disappointing stay

The property was clean and well furnished in modern style. However, the welcome we received was very unfortunate. There was no key box so we had to be met personally. The appointed meeting hour was brought forward by the property manager and when we were delayed by twenty minutes because of unforeseen traffic, she threatened to make us wait until the evening. She was unfriendly, queried the presence of our dog, for whom I had gained permission (she had no record of this) and for whom we had paid to stay there. She then demanded an extra payment for the cleaning, in addition to the payment I had already made to cover supplementary work, which I refused. Although there was space to park about ten cars in the enclosure, she queried the two cars in which we had arrived but let it go as 'an exception'. The tables were covered in plastic, so not as attractive as in the publicity photographs. The usual products, which one finds in rental accommodation, were either almost used up or missing altogether. Clearly, the welcome gift of a bunch of flowers or bottle of wine, always present in Homeaway rentals, was absent. The coffee maker did not work and we had a very inadequate selection of cups and plates for our use. We were made to feel extremely uncomfortable for the duration of our stay.

Lovely getaway

The house is beautiful and in a very charming location. We had a very comfortable stay. The beach is so close and didn’t get very busy, the town itself is quiet and friendly. It would be a big improvement if the house had WiFi. We had no phone signal in the house and without WiFi it was difficult to look up information on local attractions or the weather forecast, for example, or even to contact the owners because we couldn’t access the Homeaway website. There were a few repairs waiting to be done (the sink in the downstairs toilet was broken so we couldn’t use that room; the shower hose was leaking and was strapped with tape but needed mending). This didn’t spoil our enjoyment of the house but hopefully these repairs will soon be done. The arrangements for two deposits were not made clear until the day before check in; this needed to be much clearer prior to be booking as it wasn’t much notice and a bit inconvenient. The owner, understandably, works and so check in and check out had to fit around her working hours with little flexibility - we weren’t told this in advance, we found out whilst travelling that we could only check in at 1pm or 6pm. It would have informed our travel arrangements if we had known this in advance. We couldn’t factor it in because we didn’t know. For the same reasons we also then had to check out at 8am and there was little flexibility. The owners were very friendly and helpful people and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. If you are looking for a quiet getaway by the sea it’s a beautiful house in a lovely location.

Lovely beach house in wonderful location BUT we did not get a copy of the contract (and obviously didn't sign it!) and only found out WHEN WE ARRIVED that: 1) Towels and sheets are NOT provided 2) There is no wi-fi 3) A damage deposit in the form of cash/personal check is required on check-in--we almost didn't have enough cash on us to cover it! 4) There is an additional cleaning fee unless you clean the house yourself--not just sweep but clean bathrooms. Even paying the cleaning fee, dishes have to be dried and put away, not just stacked in the dishwasher and turned on. Also note: a) The property is hard to find and the owner did not send us the address, so we were going off the map and photos on VRBO b) Check-in time is NOT flexible. There's an hour window mid-day and a 30 min window in the evening. c) All grocery stores in the area close by 7 pm Saturday night. d) There is no clothes dryer as stated in the description, just a drying rack. On the positive side, the house is very nicely decorated, kitchen well-supplied with cookware/dishes and it's steps from the beach. Perfect place to stay if you live a few hours away and want a beach house. Terrible place to stay if you are arriving in Paris on an international flight and want a home base for visiting the D-day beaches.

Kontakt nur per e-mail, aber das kann dauern. Es sollte auch benannt wer,dass die BettwĂ€sche sehr ungewöhnliche verschiedene GrĂ¶ĂŸen hat. Nein, kein Parkplatz am Haus und im Sommer könnte es schwer werden ĂŒberhaupt in der nĂ€he einen zu finden. Obwohl eine Anleitung zum parken auf dem GrundstĂŒck im Haus liegt. Aber der SchlĂŒssel zum Tor passt nicht. Ich bin nicht pingelig, aber wir mussten KĂŒche und Bad teilweise erst reinigen. Im Schlafzimmer unten stinkt es, möglicherweise durch den Wasserschaden. DafĂŒr kam vor der Abfahrt eine Mail, wir sollten das Haus sauber verlassen!!! Es wird viel gefragt, genaue Ankunft und Abreise. Nur warum, es gibt keinen Kontakt zur Hausmeisterin. Kaffeemaschine zu gekalkt. Teekanne war nicht sauber zu kriegen ohne spezielles Werkzeug. Garten Möbel sehr verwittert. Nichts desto trotz, die Lage des Hauses an diesem wunderschönen Strand ist sehr gut.

Afrader! Beschrijving klopt niet, op berichten in de app wordt niet gereageerd (dus er was geen beddengoed), je mag de tuin niet gebruiken, geen parkeergelegenheid, muf, veel spinnenwebben, vochtplekken, geen wifi, gammele wc's, mini tv met uitsluitend Franse zenders, gehorig, onvriendelijke buren, etc. Alleen de locatie was goed. Nog geen 100 meter lopen en je staat op een mooi strand.

SĂ©jour de 3 nuits Ă  varaville

TrÚs bon sejour au calme, dans la maison située à quelques mÚtres d une grande plage. La maison est bien équipée et dispose d un jardin partagé clos commun aux autres propriétaires qui a fait le bonheur de notre chienne. Nous avons pu découvrir la région : Caen, chùteau de bouttemont, Cabourg et Houlgate. Nous reviendrons pour la suite !
