This charming hotel is showing some wear and tear but it is really well located, particularly in relation to the railway station and a variety of nearby restaurants. The room had a few quirks but overall we enjoyed our stay.
The Melia Recoletos Hotel is beside the Campo Grande park and is a 10 minute walk to downtown. We stayed at Room 302, which was a suite. What we liked about the hotel was that it had classic furniture and the stairs had beautiful wrought iron rails. The breakfast buffet was quite good and you could eat lunch there also. The decoration of the hotel was quite good.
We loved this hotel for our 2 night stay and would definitely recommend it to others. It was close to the train station and to all the sights of this beautiful city. We had a spacious bright quiet room on the 2nd floor with 2 windows/doors opening onto small balconies overlooking the tree-lined promenade. The room had a king size bed, lovely light and clean bedding, the bathroom was also quite large with shower in bath - all working very well. Shampoo, lotion and other items were also provided. The room was modern, had a small round table and 2 chairs. Internet was free and the speed was good. The TV was quite large with mostly European channels with BBC News in English. Breakfast was on the 1st floor in a large beautiful room. Food was a large European buffet with plenty of variety, including warm churros. This room looked out onto a large courtyard at the rear of the hotel .... also a nice place for an afternoon beer or coffee from the hotel's bar. The location of the hotel is not far from the "old" town with its many churches and beautiful buildings. Many of these buildings are lit up at night providing lovely photo opportunities. City is flat so walking around is not a problem. Plus there are many pedestrian streets. Don't miss the park across the street from the hotel. There is a big population of peacocks and other birds living there. They seem very tame and like being fed by the locals. There are also gardens, a bird aviary, fountains, a duck lake and other attractions.
The public areas of the hotel look good. Elegant. Then you walk into the room and it's definitely not reflective of what you saw on the outside. Rooms are outdated and could use renovation. Carpet was dirty, not vacuumed, and there were other neglected cosmetic issues. The check in staff were professional but not so friendly. I needed to get to the Rio Shopping center to the Apple store. Why I stopped in Valladolid. Was having an issue with my iPhone and had a Genius Bar appointment there. When I inquired about transportation there, the front desk agent wasn't very helpful. When walking back into the hotel they didn't smile or greet you. Good thing is there's a great place next door for breakfast and bakery items. Quite liked it. Hotel is an easy walk from the train station and most everything else. Would I stay there again? No. Because I'll never have a reason to visit Valladolid again. The city itself is a bit uninteresting and quiet.
The hotel is very well situated, downtown, in a nice area and it's easy to walk around to discover the town (monuments and restaurants). The hotel is clean and the welcome very friendly. There is a nice patio for a drink. The hotel is perfect for a family or a couple. The breakfast is very good.
a nice hotel, close to town centre and shopping streets, breakfast was ok as was hotel restaurant, room on top floor was very warm when I arrived and air conditioning wasn't working (was set to heating mode for October) but on opening windows room cooled down fine, room was quite spacious
Very good hotel. Great location. Clean room and good service. The lady at the reception was very efficient and friendly. I recommend this hotel not only for business trips but also for young couples going on holiday to Spain.
Hotel is located in a central place of Valladolid. Close to shops, Old Town and train station. Clean and comfortable. For business stays wifi is genuine, fast and unproblematic. Good atmosphere, The only issue (in Spain) is English.
We stayed here for two nights. The hotel is beautifully positioned overlooking a pedestrian walkway and park. We had a room right on the front of the hotel and it was beautifully quiet. Breakfasts were excellent but make sure you pay for them when you check in as they charge you more in the restaurant if you haven't pre-booked. For this reason I give it 4 stars as I think that is a bit cheeky. Fortunately we did pre-book. Parking in Valladolid is not easy and we had hired a car in Madrid airport. There is hotel parking for guests only, which is underground and secure, but again, they charge you for this as an extra which we weren't expecting. Another reason for the four star rating. There was a wedding on the Saturday we were there and breakfast the next morning was extremely noisy and the bar area and outside also, but on the second night, the hotel was very quiet indeed. The rooms are well appointed and beds extremely comfortable. Would recommend.
We had booked a "superior room" and found ourselves in quite a large and very comfortable suite. We hadn't known what to expect when we booked, but everything about the hotel turned out to be very good. Its situation is lovely, opposite a park, and usually very peaceful. Close to the old part of Valladolid. The breakfast was very good, also room service, and the room very comfortable ... I hope we get the opportunity to go there again.
