My family of eight were traveling through Vallodid and stayed for four days. Although we did not stay overnight at this hotel, we decided to eat at this restaurant one evening. This was by far our best meal for the entire duration of our stay in Valladolid. The staff was welcoming and seated us immediately (it was no problem that we had a large party of people). Our waiter was very attentive. He was also quite exceptional at explaining the different food and drink options. I am a vegetarian and he was wonderful helping me find an authentic and delicious meal. The hotel and restaurant grounds were beautifully manicured. We stayed for a couple of hours just enjoying the ambiance. The location is just off the city park center main square - opposite of the church. So when you leave the restaurant, across the main city park center is the church. The inside of the restaurant opens up into a courtyard with open-air. The hotel rooms surround the courtyard on the upper floors and it's all very elegant and picturesque. We loved the hotel that we stayed at, but I would definitely stay at this hotel based on our experience with the staff, the gorgeous hotel grounds, the AMAZING restaurant, as well as the perfect location.
Loved staying just at the heart of Valladolid. El Mesón del Marqués is a nice hotel with an amazing restaurant. Food is delicious. Breakfast was amazing. Just the beds and pillows are to stiff, could not sleep. Pool is great for the kids and the high temperatures. Cathedral is just steps away, as well as the Central Plaza with lots of shopping to do. This was our second visit this year, but our first night there. If you are close by, make sure you make a stop is worth it.
We have nothing but wonderful things to say about this hotel. As we drove into Valledolid it was exciting to see the main square in the center of the city. It just happens that this week the square is filled with arts and crafts vendors. We had no idea that El Meson del Marques is literally right on the main square. We couldn't have asked for a better location. On the other side of the hotel is an entrance for cars where they have plenty of parking which was great for us since we rented a minivan. The hotel itself and the restaurant is so beautiful and feels like an authentic Mexican style. I definitely recommend going for the breakfast included rate because the breakfast is great and the experience of eating in the restaurant each morning is wonderful. I saw a few complaints about service in other reviews but every single person we encountered was extremely friendly and accommodating. To give a hotel a bad review because they wouldn't negotiate the room price is really unfair. You wouldn't walk into a restaurant and order the steak and say you want to pay $20 instead of $35. Frankly I can't believe this hotel is currently ranked #7. We loved Valledolid and if we come back we're definitely staying here.
We stayed in room #510, one of the master suites. The rooms was lovely. You walked into a small sitting room with a fridge and some chairs, then into an area outside of the large bathroom with a mirror and vanity set, then into the bedroom area. In addition, there was a large private balcony. By large, I mean, like you could have 30 people over for cocktails on that thing with no problem. We splurged a bit on the room because it was my husband's 50th bday. I believe the room cost about USD$130 a night, which I thought was a bargain. We saw someone leaving their room on the 4th floor and the rooms was very small - big enough to fit the bed and not much else. Parking behind the hotel was free, easy to use and was secure with a guard. Breakfast (included) was delicious. You had your choice of about 5 different breakfast entrees (american and mexican choices), and coffee, toast and fresh orange juice came with that. Checking in was a bit chaotic but hey, it's Mexico! Things are just like that here sometimes. Be patient and you'll get your room eventually. There is also a nice pool and bar which are open from 7am unitl 11pm. We stayed 2 nights - we went to Hacienda San Lorenzo Oxman, Ek Balam, Ek Balam Cenote, and wandered around town. In retrospect, I would have liked to stay over one more night, but maybe next time!
El Meson Del Marques is a beautiful hotel! It is very traditional looking and you will feel like you are diving into the culture. If what you are hoping for is the resort life then this place is not for you. From the hotel you can see a beautiful old church, you are exactly one street away from the town square and only blocks away from main attractions. Unfortunately customer service does not seem to be their strength, and I don't know about but customer service is a big part of what I am paying for. My family and I actually arrived about two hours after check in time (we reserved about two weeks before) and my parents room was still not ready! When my parents went down to see if they could simply get another room the service ranged between unhelpful and just plain rude.. However, the rooms are very nice for what they are: a large and old hacienda converted into a hotel (pretty cool actually). There is AC and free wifi (although not the greatest wifi) and a pool for those traveling with kids. The real prize of this hotel though, is the restaurant located just downstairs! The service in the restaurant is great and the food is better! Quite frankly I would go just for that. All in all it was ok especially for such a small town hotel. I would stay there again so I guess that says it all.
We love this hotel. We discovered it last year when we visited Valladolid for the second time. It was high seaon, July, and they gave us a Master Suite at a very reasonable rate. We arrived for our third visit on June 26th of this year, 2017, low season still. We called ahead of time to reserve the same room. It was available, but the price had gone up considerably, so we reserved the Junior Suite and figured we could negotiate upon arrival. I gave them my credit card. Mistake. When we arrived, they would not negotiate, even though the hotel was not full. They said we would have to first cancel our current reservation, pay the cancelation fee (one night's stay), and then pay the full price for the Master Suite! After back and forth, and talking to a manager, they cancelled our reservation without penalty, but did not budge on the price for the Master Suite. We paid it but will be staying elsewhere next time. Plusses: The food is excellent. The room beautiful as always. Service in the restaurant was not very friendly but extremely professional. Negatives: The AC unit over the bed dripped on our heads. We had to put a towel under it. No big deal. The sink in the bathroom was clogged. Thankfully, there were two sinks, so again, no big deal. One of the two chairs on the scenic balcony was broken and unusable. This was sad for us because one of the reasons we wanted the Master Suite was to sit outside and enjoy the view while sipping wine. There was a lot of construction going on. A lot of noise. The room next to us had a room service tray outside the door with dirty glasses and towels on it for over 24 hours.
I am so sad. My husband and I thought we had found a cute new get away spot in Valladolid, at El Meson de Marques. Unfortunately even though we made the reservation well in advance, in order to take our two daughters, our son in law and our granddaughter. We specified with a view of the central square. We arrived Two hours past check in time, and were given keys to three rooms. Unfortunately one of the rooms was far from ready. We went back down to the front desk to let them know, and mentioned the room two doors down was free, could they simply change our room. We were told they would have to ask management, but they didn't think they could give us the room since it was a grade above ours. They told we could wait and the room would be ready in about a half hour. It is now two and. A half hora past check in. My husband asked to speak to the manager. He told us no they would not give us the other room we could wait or take a room that was available in a different building than our family with a view of the parking lot. Maybe I am to picky, but my expectation is if you make a mistake don't expect me to pay the price at your business. I would hope you would make a real effort to correct your mistake with a customer who is returning for the 3rd time in 12 months. I will post a review about the rest of our stay after our visit ends, right now I am hoping things improve, but have my doubts. Customer service doesn't seem to be their thing.
Visit this place with 4 kids ages 3 months to 9 years old. All had great time. Parking in the hotel. Great location Right in the center of town The baby had a crib. The room was clean. Breakfast was perfect. Nice pool. Sorry we couldn't stay longer
Not that i've stayed at them all but I didn't see much else on offer. It was the perfect location, right on the main square. It was absolutely charming, and that's not normally my style but I loved it. Pool needed to be cleaned more frequently but that was due to a huge tree above and the wind blowing the leaves and flowers in. The pool bar was lovely and did the best margaritas, you must try the Jicama margarita. The restaurant was also lovely and comes very highly recommended. It was authentic Yucatan cuisine and many dishes were made at your table. Rooms were clean and comfortable and all staff were lovely.
The staff was not accommodating to our needs at all. We were travelling with our 1.5 year old daughter and we asked for an earlier check in to put her to sleep after the long trip. They told us that was not posible and that we'd to wait util check in time, 3pm. However, some other clients were arriving before that time and getting their rooms... They finally gave us our room at 3pm, on a 3rd floor without elevator and without the baby-cot as requested on our booking. Couldn't have been worst. Very unpleasant experience.
