I just stayed one night, found it quite easy to park my car free of charge near the hotel. Otherwise the hotel garage is only charging 5€ which is quite cheap for Spain. The room was ok, reasonable in size, the bed was comfortable for my taste (a bit hard, maybe) bathroom also quite large with a bathtub. Hot water worked fine and I got a good sleep. The breakfast next morning was a bit por, to say the truth. There was no fresh bread, just packed toastbread, a few sweets and a low-cost orange juice. In case you wanted the real thing of orange juice they expect you to pay extra 2€ for it. The coffee-machine, however, had all the varieties of coffee in normal and decaffeinated version, which I found positive. The hotel is in the little town of Almussafes, with not much exciting things to do. Within ten or fifteen minutes walking distance there is a square with a couple for bars and restaurants, mostly frequented by locals. If again in the area, I would stay at this hotel again, even if you might expect something more from a four star hotel. But then again, the price I paid was also far away from a four star level.
I stayed at this hotel last week on business travel, my usual hotel was full in this area so was intrigued as to what might be available at this hotel. I booked a double room non smoking. Upon checking in I went up to the second floor to my room and immediately the doors to the lift opened the place was in complete darkness, 4 steps along the corridor and some of the lights sprang into life but still very poorly lit. I opened the room door and the smell of stale smoke hit me and took my breath away. I returned to the front desk and was provided another room, this was no better the stench of smoke was so great. The bed was so uncomfortable full of lumps and the pillows were like rocks, The ceiling in the bathroom was falling down in areas and the hair dryer on the wall was broken and hanging down. First night, trying to get some sleep was impossible, a rampant group of Japanese tourists were roaming the corridors outside, banging and crashing around and generally making so much noise i could not sleep on the one time I tried to communicate with them to get some peace it was apparent that they could not understand and continued to get even louder. Breakfast next morning, I was ushered into a side room near reception as the main restaurant was accommodating the large group of tourists. THe selection of foods available was appalling and I left with a banana and an apple, OK if you like to eat cake for breakfast. Unfortunately it was the same the next 2 nights and breakfast did not improve either. Wifi in the hotel is completely a non event, when travelling away I keep in contact with family by Skype and this was not even registering let alone able to connect. I went to ask at reception if there was a better zone for Wifi users and just got a look of disdain from the receptionist as I was interrupting her from watching a movie on line, probably why the Wifi is so poor as she was using the internet connection for streaming movies. The Gym was an absolute joke I have better equipment at home, so dont think you will get a work out, Pool is on the roof and freezing cold so dont pack your trunks. Couldnt wait to get out of there and as such will never grace this hotel again with my prescence.
The hotel is clean and very reasonably priced. The food in the hotel restaurant is also surprisingly good given the €12 for three course price tag. The breakfast buffet was also of a similar standard. The shower was surprisingly powerful with plenty of hot water. If you're a business traveller, this hotel will meet most of your needs with free wifi included. On the downside the bed isn't particularly comfortable (very hard), and the AC made no impact on the temperature of the room. In April, this was no big issue, but I would not be comfortable having a summer stay here.
I was there for work so didnt need much, the room was stiflingly hot, aircon didnt seem to do any good, i would leave the window open they would close it, very clean but the bed was rock hard, satelite tv varied but not up to much, breakfasts were good but only tried the restaurant once, i prefered the greasy spoon round the corner which isnt like me. I slept badly all week, and having an early flight Sat i was in bed very early when a 100 korean yoofs turned up, cue 3 hours of bedlam, the staff were apologetic, but couldnt seem to do anything, all in all i wont be back.
We were in the area on business and chose the Hotel Bartos for the convenient location. It turned out to be a great find. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable and we very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the breakfast and evening meals which were excellent value. However the real asset of the hotel is its staff and they were all extremely friendly and helpful. Special mentions to Genoveva, Tamara and Salvador at Reception and David, Chus and Agustin in the Dining Room.
We stayed there for a week arriving 10th August.Wi Fi worked in reception so was no problem. We found the meals in the restaurant excellent, and ate there every night. A glass of wine, beer or soft drink, 3 courses and coffee for 12 euros, we thought excellent value, and all our meals were hot and tasty, and the breakfast was also good. A lovely pool on the roof, but could do with an extra few loungers. The t.v. had 3 channels in English which was enough as we do'nt go on holiday to watch t.v. The rooms were a good size and spotlessly clean, and all the staff were friendly and helpful. If we go back to this area we would stay at the Bartos again
Good hotel for business trip. It's clean with nice rooms Wi-fi works well and restaurant has good meals. Most of the people go there in business trips which makes it a quiet hotel providing a good sleep. Staff is nice and helpful
If you do not care if WiFi works. If you do not want English TV programs. If you like your restaurant meal delivered to your table stone cold. This could be the place for you? We will not be coming back!
The Bartos Hotel is a fine modern building but in a bit of a backwater of the town. Plenty of parking (on a cleared area opposite the hotel). The reception is very friendly (as are all the staff) and check-in was very easy. Disappointed that the magnificent swimming poll on the roof was being shut in the middle of October but the hotel was very quiet with few guests. The rooms are fine (be nice to have a wider range of channels on the TV) and kept clean. It would be nice to have more than a few sachets of shower gel in the bathroom - after all this is classed as a 4-star hotel. The breakfast was not wonderful but satisfactory, again not up to 4 star standard. The dinner menu looked totally unappetising, with a small choice and we chose to eat elsewhere. Overall a friendly hotel and good value for money but the food was not up to the standard expected.
Hotel Bartos is just south of Valencia, handily situated between the A-7 and AP-7 (Toll). It is about 370 miles and 6 hours driving from Torrox Costa (Nerja area, Costa del Sol), so is great for a stop off when driving North. Our sat-nav took us up the (non-toll) A-7, which is dual carriageway most of the way. Keep off the toll AP-7 by taking the A31 at Elche (passing to the left of Alcoy), take a small section of single carriageway N344 to join the A35 /A7 towards Valencia. Come off A-7 at Benifaio and carry on to Almussafes - 5 mins from main road. Next morning sat-nav took us straight onto the toll road AP-7, in a couple of minutes. This Hotel is 'grand' for the area and has a fitness centre, sauna, seasonal outdoor pool and free wi-fi (although you need to be near reception area to use it). Rooms have TV, minibar (with water only) and a safe. Breakfast (cooked!!) is served in the Hotel restaurant and was included in the option offered by Booking.com. At a package price of under 50 Euros for the overnight stay, it is well worth it. There is also a bar with a good drinks selection and offering snacks too. Secure (underground) parking is available at 8 Euros per night - peace of mind if you are taking your wine allowance home with you... We will stay here again next time we drive out.
