I was ooing and ahring about staying in Saas Fee as the reviews of Zermatt were competitive but I'm glad I stuck to my guns and chose Saas Fee as we were not disappointed. I travelled with my family which consisted of: husband, teenager, daughter of 8yo plus I had my aunt and my mother with me so a total of 6 altogether. We travelled to Saas Fee from Zurich Airport by train and then bus. I booked our train tickets via the SBB website and found this way of travelling to be the cheapest for us. I had searched for private pick ups including the Hotel and one way is approximately CHF 745 where as we paid CHF 645 for a return journey for my party of 6. Each way is approximately 3 hours but my 8yo does get car sick so this was a no brainer for us. The train travel was quicker than on the road. The train ticket also covers the bus journey. Before reaching Hotel Ferienart I was advised by the Hotel to give them a ring before we reached the bus station in Saas Fee and this was a God send because on the day of our travel we had our flight rebooked because of the World War 2 bomb at London City Airport and then there were major delays on the airline. We started the day at 5am and eventually arrived at the resort tired at approximately 11.30 pm (if it wasnt for the delays. We should have got to the resort mid afternoon) where we were greeted by a warm porter who picked us up from the bus station . Amenities are really good and the Hotel staff are ever so friendly, from the great breakfast to reception staff helping us plan our day to the complimentary snacks in the afternoon. Decor was fitting to the authentic Alpine experience: wooden ceilings, cosy seating, chandeliers, staff wearing authentic Suisse costume. The kids enjoyed the swimming facilities and we did sledging and skiing. Do rent the helmets for sledging. That's just a given. The slopes can be pretty steep and unfortunately my daughter had a small accident and she didn't wear a helmet. Lesson learnt. We spent two days on the skiing slopes and as novices we over did it with clothing. On the first day of skiing, I wore 4 layers - thermal top, another light blouse, fleece cardigan and then my overcoat. I was drenched in sweat when I got back to the hotel. Second day, I had just my thermal top on and my overcoat and I although I was still sweaty I wasn't dripping wet. We bought all our gear back in the UK as clothing in Saas Fee is quite dear. The day before we were leaving, we were suppose to visit the revolving restaurant but it was snowing heavily and the clouds were quite low so we were advised against it as we wouldn't see the scenic views. If we should come back to Saas Fee, I would definitely visit there. All in all, we had a terrific stay and I would highly recommend Hotel Ferienart.

This place takes top spot among the Swiss mountain resort hotels I had the pleasure of staying at – mainly because of its staff. From car park pickup to reception desk to housekeeping and dining room service, everybody’s dedication and efficiency is simply outstanding. Mind you, the Ferienart Resort & Spa also has its usual little hiccups that are bound to happen (slow kitchen, lack of towel replacement, no French language newspaper), but each time the personnel’s attitude easily made up for an annoying situation. I never experienced so much professionalism, helpfulness and kindness from a team of hotel employees. Congratulations. Keep up the good work.

A lovely looking hotel with a fantastic spa and pool. The staff were great the massage was unbelievable. And with free vouchers to use the cable car to go up the mountain. You have to park in the car park and then the hotel comes to pick you up and with the pass for the cable car it is also used in the carpark after your stay for a good discount on the parking.

We come to Saas-Fee every year for a bit of late summer skiing and training. This was our first time at the Ferienart. We got a suite, which is actually two rooms put together. We were on the first floor and could hear the music playing in the bar at night. We stayed 4 nights and the bedding and towels were not changed during our entire stay. We asked for a late checkout (2PM) allowing us to change in the room after skiing the whole morning; it was refused, but that same day, our room was not cleaned before 3PM. We asked for a quick snack at 2PM and they answered taht is was not possible because the kitchen was closed. Finally, our children were staying with their ski teams and asked us if they could come for a swim (just our children, not the whole team), they accepted for a charge of CHF 12.50 per child. These may seem small issues, but in my experience put this hotel in a much lower category than the 5 stars they claim. Even 4 seems a stretch.

As we were staying for a week, we booked a suite. It was extremely spacious with a separate bedroom and living area. The room was very comfortable, with nice linens and duvets. The decor is quite traditional Swiss, and we typically enjoy more contemporary furnishings, but it all made the trip feel that much more authentic. We had multiple windows and gorgeous views of the town and mountains from every one! The best perk of the hotel was Stephanie the manager. Every morning she helped us choose our hiking route for the day. Each one was slightly more challenging but completely different. She was much more knowledgable than the tourist info people! The room also came with a great backpack that you could borrow, so next time I will leave mine at home. More room in my suitcase for chocolate! We will certainly return and recommend!

the 3 days we spent in this hotel were just amazing ! This is simply one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. From the second we booked to the time we left it was just perfect. Their attention to detail is amazing and i just a dream for families. It's a true kids friendly 5* hotel managed by highlighy professional that understand kids needs and make is so easy for parents to have a perfect stay !! We will be back !!!!

The two days' stay at this hotel was simply outstanding. Very nice welcome, beautiful rooms, staff very helpful and friendly, and a really 5 stars spa. Food and drinks were delicious. The good service continued also after the stay - I got what I forgot in the room within two days' time - we can't wait to go back! Thanks for making our stay thoroughly enjoable.

We stayed in mid summer. We loved using the pool area after a day's walking. Spacious and quiet, pleasant atmosphere. Helpful staff. Lovely room with views of the mountains. Internet worked well in our room. The bubbles didn;t work in the jacuzzi but never mind. The hotel gave us a citizen pass with free rides on the cable cars - which we didn;t expect and saved us some cash. We really enjoyed our stay and will come back. It is a little difficult finding a convivial place to eat in the the evenings. the restaurant attached to this hotel was dull and we would not recommend.

Fantastic hotel Second time we come and discover Saas Fee. Beautiful ski resort high in the mountains. Great rooms Quiet rooms Great spa Great breakfast Good food Great personnel Close to center Thank you for nice stay What else ?

Just enjoyed 2 nights ski weekend. Our reception was very welcoming; drinks by a log fire and plenty of sofa seats & cushions to sink into. Glad we chose half board as 30cm of snow decided to fall on our 2 days & we stayed in for dinner. Good atmosphere in the restaurant, piano music & staff were lovely making a special effort with rose petals as it was my birthday. Thank you so much to the hotel, for our gorgeous room : (162 suite). An attic open space with log fire at the foot of the bed & next to the bath tub in the room , waking up to stunning views of the mountains all round. As the snow was too heavy for the slopes to open, we were so grateful for this room, and the fabulous pool / spa to relax in. Loved everything, comfort, ambience and service .
