Novotel Fontainebleau Ury4.0 out of 5.0

This hotel is rated 4 stars that I feel a star too much. Even they say the hotel has recently been refurbished it feels jaded and old especially outside and in the common areas. Booked through Hotels.com and the description for family's was not accurate where the title disappointing was born!
The hotel needs an external refurbishment. Internally, it´s quite ok, but externally, it looks pretty bad. The doors that should be locked over night were extremely easy to open and it didn´t give us as guests a feeling of the security we expect in today´s world. The staff was excellent and very service minded. The food was excellent, that goes for both breakfasts as well as dinners. Good value for money!
just 5 mins off the main E15 (autoroute de soleil), 10 mins from Chateau de Fontainebleau, and just an hour from Paris. The setting is quiet and peaceful, and a gated complex, surrounded by trees. Perfect for traveling through or staying to explore the area. We arrived late having been caught in traffic around Paris, but the bar was still open (thank goodness!). Breakfast was a feast - and we would liked to have stayed longer that the one night. I was a little concerned about staying due to the negative reviews - however they were totally unfounded in my opinion.
Based on the many good reviews I read on TripAdvisor, I stayed at the hotel when I was interviewing MBA candidates at nearby INSEAD. While the hotel is fine and has a gym (although you need to go and get the key to unlock it if you go at 6am like I do) and a little bar with impressive bar snacks, it's just too remote to be useful. When I wanted a taxi in the morning, the guy at reception told me it would be hard to get anyone to respond before 7am and I was asking at 6am. I did get a taxi but at about 730am which was 45 min later than I wanted. The hotel was fine but don't stay here unless you have your own transportation and you don't plan to be out for dinner with drinks in the town of Fontainebleau the night before.
I stayed at Novotel Ury for a week to follow a course at Insead. This was a hotel from the 60s in the middle of nowhere with a decoration that pretended to be modern but was horrendous. My room had a strange smell that never disappeared. Ok only if you are desperate and can't find anything else (which was my case)
Having spent here several weeks for business I can confirm it is a perfect place to stay. The hotel is placed in a quiet surrounding and has comfortabel and large enough rooms. Both breakfast and dinner options are really good at reasonable value for money prices. One remark: quite impossible to get here without a car.
First we were sceptical cause the hotel seems to be in the middle of nowhere and doesn't look very inviting. That's wrong. From inside it's perfectly fine and rooms are nice. Staff is very friendly. Breakfast is good and the pool and sauna serve their purpose as well. Parking and Wifi is free. Recommendable if you are near fontainbleau or in the area. Go there
The hotel located in a very quiet and beautiful countryside near Fontainebleau castle. The room is large and clean. There are a lot of playground and facilities for children to play in and around hotel. Parking places are free and abundant.
The front facade is a bit tired and gives a false impression of hotel. It is well-run and service was good despite a wedding on one day and a conference on another. Only other comment is that Manager had replied in French to comments from guests written in English. I think this is discourteous.
Nice staff but we had booked 2 rooms and they were not next to each other. Very long hallways and you keep walking when you have a room at the end. Dinner was ok but pricey and drinks are expensive. Dinner took forever and we had to wait a long time between courses. The dining room has white tiles on the floor and purple and green light on a grey wall. I think it is time for a make over and get rid of the mirrors. Breakfast is good but expensive 16.50. In a corner is breakfast buffet and it gets easily congested. I would organize it differently. Rooms are ok and clean but terrubly boring. Bed is good.
