We traveled Uruguay for 3 week and this was our last stop so we had lots to compare. The staff was so helpful, friendly and patient. The building is old, but that adds to the charm of staying in Montevideo. The breakfast was the best, most comprehensive and healthy of all the places we stayed. It was the only time we got hot eggs and not the standard ham and cheese of many other restaurants. In fact, this hotel offers kosher food so there were many people, who would have been limited in other hotels, who were able to eat here. Many flavors of yogurt and jams, and rotating breads and sweet pastries. The only reasons I did not give this 5 stars is because I also could not find the pool and parking was $10 a night.
The staff is friendly and the bed is very good. But unfortunately it does not compensate the hotel situation. It is an old hotel, not in its best shape. Our room was close to the air conditioning machines, very noisy.
We booked based on T/A reviews and budgeting $100 cdn or less. This is your typical South American travellers hotel that does not meet North American standards so if that's what you're looking for wrong place. On the positive side the staff are friendly courteous and the breakfast was very good. The location is excellent and the neighbourhood is safe and interesting to explore. On the negative side these hotel rooms are showing their age. The bed is like a trampoline and the pillows are foam rubber chip and no feather pillows available. The room was clean when we first came but In the five days we stayed there the cleaning staff only changed the garbage and made the bed. Nothing else was cleaned! Normally I like to tip the cleaning staff but not this time! So because of all this we were forced to move to a new hotel with better standards. My other disappointment with this hotel was the Get A Room reservation system double booked us and the hotel did not pick up on two of the exact same reservations arriving at the exact same time even though I had communicated with them in the previous week to arriving. When we arrived and I pointed this out to them they still penalized us one night as they said it was too late to refund us! So all in all when I give this hotel three stars I am being very generous.
This is a hotel which is near by the rambla and near by restaurants in a walking distance radio. Regarding the facilities is an old building from the 80's. The room I stayed was in the last floor very clean, kitchen included. Ok sized bed comfortable you can definetly sleep well. Breakfast was fine and a must is the medialunas and dulce de leche!. It had a pool that I never got the chance to use because i could never find!. The parking was an extra wich is ok. The best of the hotel is the recepcionist the guys are great, friendly, very helpful with the guide and orientation on what to do in town. Uruguayans are the most humble, friendly, service oriented and great people you will ever meet! For sure you will have a good time
The Armon Suites Hotel is A very nice, clean and friendly hotel. Staff is very helpful, breakfast is rich and the rooms are clean and large. the location is amazing, close to the beach, lots of coffee shops and restaurants. The best shopping mall is 5-6 minutes walk.
The people of this hotel are very friendly and the breakfast is really good. However, I would not recommend this hotel for business trips since the internet access is very bad, which makes it difficult to work.
Armon Suites is a kosher hotel on 21 de Setiembre, close to Bearritz park in Punta Carretas. The area is probably the best in Montevideo and is perfectly safe. The hotel is slightly dated, and the dining area is rather small. There is not much of a variety for breakfast, but if you like dairy products, you've hit gold. The rooms are large, there is a small kitchenette with a microwave, fridge, and kettle, and the Wi-Fi is good. The best thing about the hotel is the staff, which are very attentive and forthcoming.
Armon Suites is a secret in the heart of Uruguay. A kosher hotel with a kosher breakfast and lunch, this is the only destination like it in Montevideo. With hotel staff that aim to serve, they are very accommodating and helpful. Rooms have a refrigerator and microwave and a separate work and sitting area for dining. Some of the bathrooms even have working a jacuzzi! Waking distance to local malls, the ocean and 15 minn from the local synagogue, this is an ideal hotel for the Kosher traveler.
It is a average hotel. The neighborhood is a good place to stay in Montevideo. There are a few restaurants around and it is next to the rambla. The room was big, the bathroom was fine and it was clean. We went by car and we didn't know that the parking lot was just for few cars, so there was no place to our car. We left our car 3 blocks away in other parking lot. The staff seems not well trained, it took 20 minutes to give me another room key ( I left my in the car 3 blocks away). I'm not sure if I would stay there again.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable including a functional kitchenette. The breakfast is probably the best we had in Uruguay (which honestly is not that much of a thing since the other breakfasts where not that much interesting). Nevertheless the sound isolation if the windows could be better since we heard almost everything. Fortunately the street tends to be quiet after midnight so this wasn't much of a problem.
