a nice hotel

This is a very nice hotel with a great restaurant They give you free tickets to take the bus to the Island Mainau which if you go there you will see many beautiful flowers and also a butterfly zoo. The only negative about the hotel is on the booking site it said there would be a tea/coffee maker in the room and when I told them there was not one in the room as stated they said they would supply it but never did. A small issue but I think if something is listed as in the room it should be there just a matter of trust that what is listed will be there.

Trying too hard

A pleasant welcome from reception and as we were touring with another couple on bikes a good secure area to leave our bikes. The room was large and clean but the furniture is very dated and combined with the small avocado coloured shower room felt very much like going back to the sixties. In addition the towels, whilst clean, were old and very worn. The bed was large but the pillows, like a lot in Germany, were like terrible, just big marshmallow lumps. We decided to stay and eat in the hotel after reading the reviews of the restaurant but were very disappointed. They completely messed up two of the meals and got one of them totally wrong! The staff were very busy and totally overrun which probably was one of the reasons for the mess but a more important factor is the size of the menu, it is way too big! They need to reduce it to a much smaller range so they can produce accurate and better quality meals. Sorry but only a 3 out of 5 from us

On 3rd floor, room was reasonable size. Weather being hot this old building could not cope. Was very hot only had a pedestal fan which was noisy and just could not do anything about the heat even with window open. We were unable to sleep as so hot. At the restaurant attached we had a lovely evening meal in the courtyard area. Huge meals at a reasonable price,good service. Buffet breakfast next morning that was ok. Due to bus full of patrons limited choice on buffet as options depleted.

Beautiful Room

We stayed for one night at this hotel. We were made to feel very welcome by the receptionist and young man at the desk. We were given a choice of rooms on the new top floor which we had paid extra for. The rooms were beautiful. Clean and extremely modern.We chose one with a large walk in shower. We had dinner in the evening in a very chaotic restaurant and were told that it was unusually busy after waiting 20 minutes for a drink to be served. However the wait for the food was then brought to us a little more quickly even though my first choice was sold out! Breakfast was adequate. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would return.
