This campground places you within a 15-minute drive of East Polk Public Library and Fields of the Wood Bible Park. The accommodation includes a coffee maker and guests can enjoy free breakfast.
One of a few unique guest rooms under canvas at BLK147 Bed and Breakfast, Whisper "Hollar" is tucked into a secluded woodland hollow where the mountain seems to wrap around you. Reached by an easy one-minute walk from the trailhead, this peaceful guest room under canvas offers complete privacy, with no neighboring rooms in sight—just the sounds of the forest and the quiet rhythm of life in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Whisper Hollar is immersed in the forest. The room sits beneath a towering hardwood canopy in a natural fold of the mountain, surrounded by trees and the sounds of the woods. Filtered sunlight moves through the canopy, cool mountain breezes linger even on warm afternoons, and the forest around BLK147 connects directly with adjoining forested property and the Cherokee National Forest. BLK147 is located within the Cherokee National Forest proclamation area, placing you in a landscape defined by mountains, hollows, hardwood forest, and very little development.
Inside, you'll find a queen bed dressed with quality linens, comfortable lounge seating, soft lighting, and thoughtful touches that make it easy to slow down after a day of exploring. Large screened openings invite fresh mountain air while keeping you connected to the changing sounds of the hollow. When it turns chilly the canvas and propane heater keep you cozy.
The forest has its own soundtrack. Birds greet the morning, cicadas and katydids fill warm summer afternoons, and after dark the breeze moves through the hardwoods as owls call from distant ridges. It's a peaceful atmosphere that's uniquely Appalachian.
Just steps from your room are a private hot outdoor shower and private pit latrine, thoughtfully tucked into the woods. Your stay also includes access to the shared field kitchen, firepit, and our complimentary continental breakfast with made-to-order breakfast sandwiches each morning.
Whisper "Hollar" is perfectly situated for exploring the region before returning to your quiet retreat beneath the trees. Whether you're escaping the city, celebrating a special occasion, or simply craving a slower pace, Whisper Hollar offers genuine hospitality, thoughtful comfort, and the chance to experience the Blue Ridge Mountains from within the forest itself.
Escape into the mountains and wake up to a delicious breakfast. Nestled among the hollows and ridgelines on the side of a Blue Ridge Mountain at the edge of the Cherokee National Forest, private guest rooms under canvas at BLK147 offer a secluded woodland experience without sacrificing comfort. With just a few unique guest rooms, BLK147 offers the personal attention and relaxed pace of a true Bed and Breakfast, surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains. There are no roads, rooftops, or neighboring tents in sight—just your own peaceful corner of nature.
Each tent is accessible via a short walk through the trees, where the hustle of daily life quickly fades away. Inside, a comfortable queen bed and versatile lounge seating create a space perfect for slow mornings, afternoon naps, and evenings illuminated by lantern light.
When hunger strikes, the shared open-air field kitchen and firepit area provide essential cooking facilities for simple meals beneath the canopy of trees. Each morning, guests receive a continental breakfast and made-to-order breakfast sandwiches delivered hot in a chafing dish, so there’s no need for an alarm clock.
Fresh herbs and seasonal vegetables grow near the field kitchen. Chickens and goats roam freely on the mountain, guardian dogs keep watch, and perimeter fencing helps keep wildlife at bay. The retreat is adults-only, offering a peaceful, quiet environment designed for restful escape in an increasingly busy world. Here, the luxury isn't found in televisions or crowded resort amenities—it's found in fresh mountain air, genuine hospitality, exceptional comfort, and the rare opportunity to slow down.
Whisper "Hollar" sits in a natural fold on the side of the mountain. Because of the way the mountain surrounds the hollow, sunrise and sunset are a surreal experience—the light seems to appear and disappear through the trees and in every direction around you.
Look at the aerial photos and you'll see what makes this place different. The forest is unbroken from BLK147 across adjoining property and into the Cherokee National Forest. You aren't looking at the forest from a distance—you are immersed in it.
And there is plenty to explore beyond the property. Follow the Cherohala Skyway through the mountains, drive the scenic roads around Tellico Plains and the Copper Basin, or spend a day exploring Murphy, Blue Ridge, and the surrounding mountain towns. Fall brings an especially lively season of festivals, craft fairs, harvest events, and small-town celebrations. Scenic train rides offer another way to experience the mountains, while the Ocoee and Toccoa provide opportunities for rafting and tubing when those seasons return. After a day of exploring, come back to the quiet of your own woodland hollow.
Come for the mountains. Stay for the forest.

WOW what a treat it was to stay here! Ann is just incredible. If you can think of it, she has already got it, and she is just getting started with hosting here. I cannot WAIT to come back to stay!! The beds are incredibly comfortable, the yurt clean and cozy, the kitchen has everything you could need and more, and the outdoor shower is a luxury I didn't even know I was missing. We drove up from Atlanta for the weekend with just a swim suit and some hiking clothes- Ann had everything we needed from bug spray to hot tea to smores kits. She had the fire pit ready to go each night and got to spend the evening hanging out with the other guests. The sites are so spread out that you wouldn't know anyone else is there. Her pups are sweet as can be- a highlight was being greeted by Sammie's happy tail 3 Ann's breakfast was TO DIE FOR!! One of my favorite foods is a breakfast sandwich and having one made to order with fresh eggs is the best it gets!! She also makes homemade banana bread that she bakes FRESH EACH MORNING in individual servings!! Not only did she give me the recipe but she made us some for breakfast and some to-go for the road!! I have done my share of traveling staying in airbnbs and hostels and I have never encountered hospitality a thorough and thoughtful as Ann's. 10/10 recommend and we will certainly be back again! 3
I truly cannot say enough great things about Ann. Her goal was to make our experience a pleasant and comfortable as humanly possible. Wish we had longer to stay and interact her and Rick. Such accommodating people. Very personable experience. 10 out of 10 recommend and would absolutely go back
