Goodness..where do i start?!! The Somerset is heaven on earth and the people that work there are angels! The staff is beyond amazing and helpful. The level of service is beyond what i expected. We stayed in a 1 bedroom villa with a king and a loft that had twin beds. The room was so nice and had everything you needed! The pools are amazing and the crew that helps with the beach chairs, kayaks and paddle boards are eager to help you. I can't wait to return to T&C and will certainly be staying at the Somerset when i do!
My family and I just came back from the Somerset and had an amazing and relaxing time. Everyone is friendly and extremely helpful. As you enter the resort you are greeted with a warm, friendly smile by Berry and Billy. They will help you with anything you need such as dinner reservations, taxis, water activities etc. The resort was just big enough for my family, not a lot of people, or crowded beaches. When you head down to the beach you can use any of the water toys they have, from kayaks, water boards, snorkel equipment, and boogie boards. They are extremely helpful as well, if it wasn't for the kindness and patience of Recco, we wouldn't be able to go out on the catamaran with my 6 year old daughter. He not only brought us out, but taught my husband and father how to use it. The best part, for me, was the kids club. My 3 and 6 year old daughters loved it and Sharon was amazing with them. Within just a few hours my daughters, husband and I felt extremely comfortable with her, Her warm heart and kindness towards my girls made them feel very special. I would go back to the Somerset in a heartbeat and would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice, quiet, friendly, family resort.
The Somerset on Grace Bay is spectacular! We stayed with our daughter, son-in-law and their two girls both under 6 in a two bedroom penthouse residence for 5 nights that was incredible. The days were sunny and warm and the evenings comfortable with a tropical breeze. The breakfast that was included was delightful and the pool side cafe and evening dining were well prepared and the service staff was very attentive. The best part of our visit was getting to meet and interact with the unbelievably friendly, helpful and caring staff! A special thank you to Sharon who provided the “kids Club” activities for our granddaughters. Her enthusiasm, caring nature and love for all in her care was something that came so natural to her. Thanks also to Berry and Billy at the front desk and to Winston, the bellhop and DJ and to Reco who was so caring to all the adults, children and young adults. Our rooms were well cared for by the maid service. My compliments to the supervisory staff who hired them all and provided such outstanding training. Everything about our stay was unforgettable. We would return in a heart beat!
First of all the staff are what make this experience the best in all my 35 yrs of traveling. The Hotel staff: Billy, Jan, Winston, Warren, Berry, and the rest of the Somerset crew are warm, engaging, and know hospitality like few I have experienced. Second, the on site, but separate restaurant organization, the Pavilion staff are superb. The chef, Robert, staff: Ingrid, Aneka, Sara, Wadlynn, and other staff are amazing. We felt like we were guests in their home. The food is great and breakfast is delicious and enough to carry you through the day. The beach crew, Collin, Reco, Louis, and other sand staff are the coolest and most accommodating guys you ever meet. Despite the construction, Hey they had a Hurricane for Pete sake, the stay was amazing. The beach and pool views are awesome. The water and sand are the best I have experienced in 35 years of traveling to the Caribbean. I highly recommend you get to know these folks. They will tell you were to dine, dive, shop, and otherwise best things to do on the Island. Enjoy, Andre, Megan, Clare
You know, you read all the reviews carefully, you hope fellow Trip Advisers would not let you down and would tell you if there is a major problem at the resort...and then you arrive there and discover that there is major roofing work going on every day, with tile cutting and hammers in the air--and you are like: how come NO ONE even mentioned this? Shame on you, fellow reviewers, you let us all down. I love this resort, it was our fourth time there. Last time we arrived to discover major construction next door and decided that is was just a fluke. This time we arrive to find that the resort has chosen to repair roofs on several buildings during high season - spring break time. Not wait until the summer when the rates are cheaper and the disturbance would not be that offensive. But for the rates we paid, to wake up to constant hammer pounding and tile drilling was far from our idea of fun. At the very least, there should be a warning on the resort's website! But whenever I mentioned this to the staff, they went into a rehearsed speech about the history of their roof project--like someone trained them to try and change the subject whenever this construction is brought up. And it is not just one building - several buildings are being worked on, so there is no escaping the noise. Arghh! Now, the service here is always great, and the reason we keep coming back here are the kids' club and the two-level suits. The fact that all the food services are run by a separate company is inconvenient only to the point that you cannot charge things to the room. But that gets solved once they take an imprint of your credit card and then you can keep charging to that card. There is a great beach party on Tuesday (ours got rained on and was held at the restaurant but was still fun) with an amazing fire-eater, and the movie night on Fridays is great because the kiddos get fed and watch a movie on the lawn while the parents can have a date night. All and all, the resort is perfect but for the construction issue--namely, not being warned about it ahead of time. That is a major let down--especially for the high Spring Break season, along with its high prices.
We spent the past week at the Somerset and had a fabulous time. The beach was soft and the water turquoise. Our first night there we attended the beach barbecue with Winston as the dj - a resort employee with many talents. Winston always had a smile on his face and willing to help. One of the resorts many amenities is the availability of hobie cats, kayaks, etc. Having never sailed on the ocean, Recoh, one of the somereset employees, took us sailing on one of the hobie Cats. Without Recoh we would not have had the confidence to go out alone. It was a lot of fun and made more enjoyable because of Recoh. The accommodations were exceptional.
We loved this resort and would definitely return. We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa, and it was beautiful, massive, and well appointed. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. The included breakfast is great, especially the delicious fresh fruit. Also, this is situated right on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. There is still some construction going on, as is the case on most of the island, post hurricane. If you’re sensitive to that, you may want to check on whether that is still ongoing. Generally, the island has recovered very well! Somerset is awesome!! Highly recommend.
We spent seven nights at Somerset. Excellent trip with the family. The staff extremely friendly. Few of the many staff members that were helpful ; Berry - concierge, Sharon-Camp, Winston-Greeter, Reco - Beach . See you again next year. Thank you Griffin, Diane and Matthew
Beautiful resort. Kid friendly but not overly loud- enough activities but enough quiet too. We loved the kids club- Sharon was wonderful with our boys. Winston was so friendly and very interactive with our children as well. He always had a song and laugh to share. Colin at the pool, Adrian at the front desk, and the concierge, Berry were also very helpful and friendly. This is a warm and welcoming special place to vacation.
The condos are well appointed. The staff was great. Berry, the concierge, set up dinners, snorkeling trips, sunset cruises and even a private party on the beach. Everything was perfect. The bikes and beach chairs could use some updating. Breakfast is included and was good. Beachside lunches good too. Grocery store was close by and easy to get to. Not too big like the mega resorts. We walked through other resorts but we would come back to Somerset over any others.
