The Somerset on Grace Bay

I returned after two years to Somerset on Grace Bay. I like the place because it is boutique size with great service. What is really nice is that there is no other resort on the right side of the Somerset. we just got back and had few than a dozen people in the water with in 200 feet from us. The beach is perfect for walking. The weekly BBQ and fire show is fun and tasty.

I went back to my "happy place" - The Somerset on Grace Bay. While I was there, a new general manager, Kevin Reeder, and his wife, Ellen arrived. I was told the prior manager moved back to NY to be with his family. Kevin and Ellen are very personable and energetic and jumped right in with the guests at the managers cocktail party and beach bar b que. The resort is still the most beautiful and tranquil of all the resorts on Grace Bay with the largest beach front. I had breakfast at Pavilion (the mango oatmeal is amazing), had lunch at LunaSea pool bar, dinner at Pavilion (tuna poke was yummy). The Monday night manager's cocktail party had great appetizers and afterwards for dinner they had $5 tapas and tacos which were delicious (and quite a bargain!). Friends of mine who were staying elsewhere came and told me the Pear martinis were the best they had ever tasted! The Tuesday night beach bar b que was delicious (beef, ribs, shrimp, tuna, mahi mahi, jerk chicken, tons of salads) and we saw a performance by a fire dancer/fire eater, participated in a limbo contest and danced to the great tunes played by "DJ Snoopy" (their bellman Winston). There were a lot of families staying at the resort and the kids that were there had an amazing time at the Kids Club. The units are extremely spacious and modern and had every appliance and convenience you could need. We will be back (hopefully very soon!!)

Amazing hotel for families. Rooms are big, beautifully decorated and new. Great kitchen with viking appliances. Friendly and competent staff. Tuesday beach barbecue is also great. The staff at the front desk can help you with everything on the island.

My wife and I spent 4 nights here for a friends wedding. They couldn't have picked a more beautiful spot! The resort has beautifully maintained gardens. The pool is broken into three separate tiers with the one closest to the beach being a walk-in infinity pool. The staff was nice and generally helpful. But the beach..... UNBELIEVABLE!!!! We had a nice beach lounger, towels, table and umbrella each day. Cold waters were readily available and the beach staff was great! The sand and water is to die for. The water reflects a turquoise glow onto the underside of the clouds above. The only downside... They need new bikes. The one I took out literally stopped cranking downtown. I believe they may have new ones on order so that would make The Somerset a home run! Also to note. Since the actual owner of the unit is responsible for the furnishings, we won't comment on some of the updates needed in our unit.

We researched a lot of places and were impressed by many. While on the island, we made a point of checking most of them out. Without a doubt I would return to The Somerset! From the moment you arrive, the staff makes you feel at home with a friendly greeting, a cool towel and a delicious island welcome beverage. Because they only have 53 (luxury) villa units compared to some of the larger hotel locations on Grace Bay, you really do get to know everyone and best yet, they know you and quickly learn your preferences. Our stay included a continental breakfast (sit down menu) every morning. Although the pools (reverse-current lap, wading and infinity edge) are lovely, we couldn't pass up time on the beach. The sand is incredibly soft and white and the perfect compliment to the crystal clear blue water. Each villa is privately owned and decor will vary accordingly. A couple of highlights - The hotel offers bikes that can be checked out at the front desk free of charge (only 2 were working when we were there, but 6 new ones were on order) - croquet sets were also available with a wonderful garden lawn to play and enjoy - Kayaks, SUP, 16' Hobie Cat sailboat available with a one-time charge per room for safety instructions - complimentary beach chairs and umbrellas with a wonderful beach staff to help you set up your area (we never had issues obtaining beach or pool chairs) - Tuesday Beach BBQ is a great experience - $50pp, beach-side, under moonlit skies, tiki torches, and an amazing fire dancer Other area info: - although the hotel is centrally located, you will need a taxi to many of the local restaurants (true for most any property on Grace Bay) a typical charge is $10-14pp each way - The hotel offers a "pack with a purpose" give-back opportunity. A great way to help local children in need. The front desk can also tell you about a shelter in town where you can walk homeless dogs on the beach. - Caicos Conch Farm is a fun and unusual outing - The hotel can help you rent a car for a portion of your trip - drop off and pick up at the hotel- couldn't be more convenient or a better way to enjoy and see some of the area. - Although the hotel offers a kids club, I was pleased that The Somerset was family friendly but had an adult feel. -Be sure to check out the Thursday Night Fish Fry at Bright Park. -Snorkel options with pick up at hotel beach are available. Not the best snorkeling but fun none-the-less. Fun crew and yummy lunch on a local private beach. -Hotel Spa offers a lot of treatments- all wonderful but spa area is small and relegated to a few treatment rooms. (exceptionally friendly staff professionals) - Island food was delicious but not impressive (I'm somewhat of a "foodie" and mean this as a comment not an insult) My favorite meals (and we tried many...) was Grace Bay Club- Infinity/Krave (if you go ask for a table away from the music speaker. much too loud- difficult to hear the others at my table of three!) -a glimpse at some of our other restaurants: Coco Bistro, Hemingway's on the Beach, Mango Reef, Parallel 23, Pavilion, Somewhere, Bay Bistro at Sibonne (ask about private, beachside tables)

We were last here in December and we enjoyed so much we decided to come back six months later. We absolutely love the resort. I think the staff here is amazing. Everyone we encountered from the front desk to the pool staff and beach assistance. So many of the staff go above and beyond -Alreco, Collin, Bernard, Lewis, and Quinsley. As well as the front desk crew Samantha, Adrain and Jan. The resort itself is beautiful but honestly the warm welcoming staff is what keeps up coming back. We stayed in an ocean front villa a building and it was beautiful. We prefer the first floor because we travel with children. We last stayed in the c building on the first floor and I thought that was very nice as well I would probably prefer to stay there again only because of location. The cleaning staff came twice per day. The villa was gorgeous. Plenty of activities available down by the beach. The food on sight is very good at both The Pavilion and poolside dining. I'm pretty certain we will return sooner than later.

Our family rented a 5 bedroom villa right on the Gulf Started out with Ac on second floor on the blink. The staff immediately came to our rescue. Samantha the resort manager personally came down a gave our kids a 3 bedroom villa right below us for the night until it was fixed the next day (I say kids as they are 29-40 years old) That did not stop chef Brad from preparing a 5 coarse meal in our villa on the first floor, With chicken an shrimp entrees tuna, shrimp and conch appetizers, A wonderful salad with his special sauce And a double decker White and chocolate cake with white fillings. It was probably the best dinner. I have ever had So good was the cake that on third day we go another and for only $40. Our stay here was truly 5 stars or rather 6 stars. Samantha got to be like one of the family. She comped our first night stay because of the Ac problem. If you want to stay at the top resort on Turks stay at Somerset. My wife and I had stayed at the Regent Palms several years ago and it was really nice too, but going back again no question we would stay at Somerset. Thank you Chef Brad and Samantha

What a gorgeous hotel in the center of Grace Bay. The hotel itself was lovely, had a beautiful charm to it. The rooms were very clean and our 3 bedroom suited us perfect. The staff, especially Adrian and Billy Joe, were so attentive and they helped us in so many ways. Highly recommend!!

We just held a fundraising event on the beach at The Somerset and I can't say enough wonderful things about their staff, the professionalism, the food, and the venue itself. The beach buffet had an assortment of different breads, 6 different salads, grilled veggies, peas & rice, corn on the cob, jerk chicken, blackened shrimp, mahi mahi, BBQ Ribs, and Flank steak. Then there was an assortment of desserts to choose from. Everything from cheesecake to chocolate cake and carrot cake. Everything was delicious. Thank you Chef Brad for you and your wonderful staff that made our night so amazing. Everyone should enjoy a night of yummy food, great atmosphere, DJ, dance floor and a flowing bar. We will definitely be back.

We cannot recommend the Somerset highly enough. Our family vacation was incredible, many thanks to the entire Somerset team for making it fun, relaxing and memorable. Our beautiful two bedroom ocean villa was well-stocked with fresh groceries upon arrival and it was great for us to have a full kitchen to prepare meals for the kids. The pool is perfect for the little ones and the beach is breathtaking. The resort even stocks a treasure chest of beach toys. Our little Sam still talks about how much fun she had dancing with Winston at the Beach BBQ. What sets the Somerset apart is the entire team that works together to ensure your stay is just perfect. Thank you Somerset team, the ones we talked with regularly (Samantha, Derrio, Adrian, Reco, Colin, Winston, Billy, Lillian, etc.) and many more behind the scenes too. Thank you. We have wonderful memories of a perfect family vacation and cannot wait to visit again. 🌊🐬🍹
