The Somerset on Grace Bay

If you are heading to Turks and Caicos, and you are looking for a relaxing luxurious vacation, look no further than the Somerset @ Grace Bay. Greeted with refreshing Rum Punches at the front desk by Sharon, and escorted to our villa and given a nice overview of the room and resort. The pool area is quiet and relaxing and the pool is very clean. They have a bar/restaurant at the pool and the food and drinks are great! The beach is cleaned daily and all non motorized sports are included. Rico and Quensley typically work the pool and beach and are super friendly and help you with things like snorkel gear, kayaks and paddle boards, and are there to greet you with an ice cold water upon return. Colin at the pool was also great, so friendly with the kids and always helped us get setup daily at the pool, with clean chairs and fresh towels. He even cleaned up my son's conch shell that we found when snorkeling and made it look like a souvenir, which made my son's day! The beach BBQ is great, it's a must. DJ Winston is amazing, and Winston also plays a few different roles at the resort. Continental breakfast is included daily and you can sit and have that, or take it to go and they will customize it daily for you. You can also order off the menu, and the food is good. Margarita and Ingrid were there daily to help me out. Adrian helped me order my groceries and ensured they were timed to be delivered to our room as soon as we arrived. He also made all of my dinner reservations and had some great recommendations. Lastly, the GM, Kevin, is there onsite daily, and very attentive to clients needs to make sure you have a wonderful vacation. You will not get this level of attention and service, at the larger resorts. Thanks to all the staff at Somerset for making our vacation one we'll never forget! I hope to come back and see you all soon! As far as activities, we did snorkeling on Island Vibes, expensive, but a fun trip. We also did scuba diving with Caicos Adventures, which I highly recommend. Good times.

We stayed in the Dundee building on the Ground Floor. Personally, I dislike ground floor accommodations, however it worked out in this case due to the wonderful front yard in front of the villa. In addition, the porch extension provided even more space that the other units did not have. The grounds are well maintained. The beach space is wonderful and not crowded. Activities provided (for a small fee) were a great perk (paddle boards, snorkels, Hobie boats and kayaks). Lots of pool space. The staff was gracious and very accommodating. The villa was clean and came with Netflix (added bonus). Some minor inconveniences that knocked down my review - Hard to find from the road, no sign for the resort (only the restaurant), caffeinated coffee was not replaced in three of the seven nights we stayed, can't charge spa treatments or drinks at the pool to your room and lastly, the villa needed some minor touch-up paint/stucco repair that made it look worn. Overall, small resort with great accommodations and amenities.

This was our first trip to Turks and Caicos but definitely not our last. I was torn between the Somerset and "another" resort but after speaking to Stevonya and the wonderful email following our phone conversation I didn't hesitate to book with Somerset. I am so glad I did. I am a Four Seasons kinda girl so my expectations are usually pretty high. Everything from the check in to our bags being promptly delivered to our room went very smoothly. We stayed in a ground floor 3 bedroom (The Welwyn I believe) and it was absolutely gorgeous and super clean. Despite being on the ground floor we were still able to see ocean views and I appreciated that my small children could run around in the grass instead of being confined to a balcony. I guess if I had to search for a flaw it would have to be the room service. Though we did purchase groceries from the local store we wanted coffee and breakfast our first morning brought to us but it took forever to arrive and was cold. Cold coffee is never a good thing. But I must say the drinks and food by the pool is a lot better. I loved the shrimp wrap so much I ordered it twice while we were there! Rico was the sweetest with any activity requests we had at the beach. He was super friendly and polite. I will definitely be returning to The Somerset next time we are in Turks.

This place is amazing! They meet you at the front desk upon check-in, bring you a rum punch, help with your bags and get you set up with all of their amenities. There are many! Kids Club for the children, shopping service, the concierge is more than accommodating, and much, much more! The rooms are spectacular with amazing views of the most pristine ocean in the world! There is bar service on the beach with cabanas as well as kayaks, paddle boards, and little sail boats to rent. The pool is gorgeous and clean with restaurant and bar service as well. The food is delicious! I could go on and on, but you really have to check it out for yourself! I love this place!

If you've got a large family this is the spot! This is a true five star resort, the location on Grace Bay Beach is the best. Quiet, with calm water, and a powdery white sand beach (it is crowded on the beach in front of some of the more popular hotels down the way). The free water sports keep everyone occupied and the water is clear and warm. Rooms: The villas are huge, and decorated nicely (we were in #205 Two Bedroom Ocean View Villa). While the hotel could not guarantee a certain room (we had asked for a higher floor with two doubles in the extra room), we were comfortable in the configuration we had (one queen in the extra room) with five people as the living area can accommodate a couple of people comfortably. I will say however, the queen bed was very uncomfortable.....certainly not the quality mattress that is in the master. Kitchen was great, although we never cooked anything, just kept some snacks handy and ordered in Chinese food one night. Maid service two times a day is super nice.... Hotel: The grounds are beautiful, we visited several hotels during our stay, and didn't see anything better. They don't seem to fill the hotel since these units are owned, which means that it is never crowded (July is considered off-season though). Always a chair by the beautiful pool or beach. The service on the beach is good in terms of the water sports and the chairs/towels, but the food/drink service is slow (prepare for an hour wait for food, had to walk up to the bar for drinks). If you came to be waited on hand and foot this is probably not the place for you, although the staff was always friendly and accommodating (just a bit slow). The breakfast is just ok, they seat you and hope you order off of the menu (where the items are not part of the free breakfast). Otherwise, you are looking at limited fruit and pastries (but coffee is included and you can get it to go!). Island: We've visited many Caribbean Islands, other than the French side of St. Maartin, I would rate Turks & Caicos the best so far in terms of accommodations, beach, and the food....There are a ton of fantastic restaurants here. Highly suggest: Bay Bistro (walk from this hotel), Hemingway's and Coco Bistro. We rented a car, but I'm not sure I would do that again, there isn't much to do on the island, but we did save money on taxis (which are always available). We attempted to go to middle Caicos to see the limestone caves, but everything is closed on Sunday, including the caves as you need guides to go into them! We would definitely visit Turks again, and stay at The Somerset. We stayed at two hotels, this and The Blue Haven, and we would only choose this one again.

This was such a beautiful, quiet resort. My family of 5, 3 children (16, 14, 11) had a wonderful time at the Somerset. We stayed in the 3 bedroom estate villa. The villa was beautiful and very spacious for my family of 5. Amazing balcony with gorgeous views of the ocean. The balcony had a grill, nice big table with seating for 8, lounge chairs and a Jacuzzi hot tub. High end finishes throughout the unit with travertine and granite throughout and Viking appliances in the kitchen. The kitchen comes completely stocked with supplies from pans, to plates, every type of kitchen utensil. It even had baking pans if you had the desire to bake a cake in paradise. The only 2 complaints I would have about the room and I found them to be minor. 1) the TV stations would lose the picture (but not the sound). It specifically happened after about 10 minutes on Nickelodeon in the kids bedroom which again...is minor to me but not to an 11 year old. It didn't happen on the main TV. We told the front desk and I think they sent someone while we were at the beach but it was never fixed. The other very minor thing is the whole villa was wired so you can play the stereo and CD player throughout. The CD player was broke and although I could get the radio to play in the living room speakers, I could never get the balcony speakers to work. Neither one of these things would keep me from saying at the resort again. The room comes with a continental breakfast which was actually pretty decent although 6 straight days of the same food got a little boring by the last day. We did eat lunch one day by the pool. Very good conch fritters (I felt better than Da Conch Shack). Given the expensive price of food on the island, we chose to stock up the kitchen with food for lunch and spent an hour on the balcony with food I would grill on the supplied Viking Grill. The resort supplies snorkeling gear, kayaks, stand up paddle boards and HobieCats for guests. I was charged an additional $90 to use it. Not sure if I was snookered into paying this fee explained to me as lessons which I never received any lessons as I'm familiar with all the gear I used. The beach area was really nice. We walked the beach in both directions. We did think of booking at Beaches and I'm glad we didn't. The beach area was not as wide and you were right on top of each other over there. The Somerset gave each family plenty of room. Chairs, umbrellas, towels are all supplied. For the little ones sand toys are supplied for castle building. The pools were very nice. They have a long lap pool and a zero entry infinity pool. The family spent plenty of time enjoying them. They were open late too. I believe until 11pm. The entire staff was very courteous. I was pleasantly greeted by everyone from front desk/concierge staff to Pool cleaners and landscapers. It seemed as though everyone was there to make my experience wonderful.

This is an amazing place with the nicest beach on the planet. Awesome grounds and impeccable pools. Everything you want in a vacation. The staff is what stood out to us. Hard working and friendly and go above and beyond to make your stay the trip of a lifetime. Huge thank yous to Adrain, Samantha, Rico, Winston and Tevin. They were great to my family. I highly recommend staying here, we wont stay anywhere else if we are blessed enough to come back at some point. Thank you Turks and Somerset

Somerset is beautiful, quiet, and has fabulous beach staff. Great for families, couples and singles alike. The margarita pizzas and Miami Vice bevvies are the best on the beach. Somerset is the place to stay in Provo! You will love it :)

Enjoyed our stay very much. Staff was very nice, friendly and helpful. Samantha (front desk); Billy Joe (airport), and Rico (beach) get special mention. Rooms and property were appealing and quiet. Facility could use new bicycles.

I loved the hotel, as it is quite beautiful. The rooms are huge, clean and since it is a smaller hotel there is not a lot of walking if you forget something and have to go back to the room. The pools are gorgeous, one is a lap pool and one is a large clean relaxing pool. The continental breakfast which is offered with your room is quite nice...croissants, fruit and yogurt and granola, served at your table. There are also additional breakfast items that you can pay for. Everyone at the hotel is quite accommodating. Bring blow up floats with you, as there are floats at the pool but if the ocean is your thing, there are none around. You will need to use a taxi to get to a lot of your meals. You can walk to the Palm next door for lunch, or have lunch at the Somerset. Dinner, again the Somerset or the Palm. Any other restaurants you will need a taxi. The best taxi around is Cameron Taxi Service - 649 - 331-3858 - reliable and beautiful van and he is very friendly!
