Enjoyed a family vacation with my husband and two children at this resort. The butler service felt strange at first but I was delighted to get to know him, and his service was friendly and helpful as it was our first time in the island. I was sorry we were not in the ocean at first but I came to realize what a special place it was, lush and cozy after being in the hot sun. We loved the relaxed atmosphere and the freshwater pool. The only negative was the uncomfortable bed. The kids beds were cozy but the master was hard.
I was a bit apprehensive about reviewing this resort only because I personally was not totally satisfied with my stay. I will start by saying that the resort staff were very hospitable & accommodating. In theory, this resort is nice however with the deterioration of some of the furnishings I felt like I was given an "old" bungalow. Perhaps there are updated bungalows available & maybe I should have pushed the issue. I made my trip enjoyable by overlooking the eyesores in my bungalow. (I'll show pics) There is no restaurant but you can pre-order a meal 24hrs in advance. The pool area is serene & pleasant. It's a fresh water pool & I guess it's ok. The beach which is in walking distance is beautiful & the resort offers a shuttle ride. I made the best of this trip but won't be returning.
I stayed at Kokomo with my wife and our 2 daughters for 4 nights. This was our first time in Turks & Caicos, and the island was on our bucket list of places to visit. We were not disappointed in the least! The villa we stayed in was right next to the pool. At first I was concerned that it was too close and we would hear all of the foot traffic and rowdiness of a typical pool area, this was NOT the case! If you want to party, stay elsewhere. If you want peace and relaxation, brother this is the place for you! From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel at home. We were greeted by 2 of the butlers, Kemar & Zavian. The easiest check-in ever and a nice welcoming drink! Kemar gave us a quick tour of the grounds and our villa. Yes, you are actually given a cell phone and are encouraged to call the butlers 24/7 if you needed anything. Talk about service! Our villa was clean, and was as charming as the pictures on Travelocity. Ours was a 2 bedroom with 2 queen beds. Plenty of closet and dresser space, electrical outlets, a safe. Full kitchen with microwave, toaster, full sized fridge & freezer, dishes, pots & pans, cups, coffee maker. I put it all to use too by making a supermarket run and making dinner & lunches. They provide beach towels down at the pool & hot tub area, but one example of their attention to detail was to include 4 beach towels, 3 beach chairs and an umbrella in the room that you can take with you in case you decide to go to another beach other than theirs. (We did this on day 3). Day 2 we enjoyed the included continental breakfast, and took the complimentary shuttle to the beach, which is maybe a 3-5 minute ride away. The beaches are worth the trip in itself. I've never seen ocean water so clear and sand so white. Amazing! Kokomo has a butler onsite at the beach that will assist you and watch your belongings. Zavian was there that morning. All of the butlers are very friendly but I interacted with Zavian the most. He's extremely knowledgable, personable, helpful, and has an awesome work ethic. Thank you all, but thank you Zavian! Back to the review, we explored the beach and had lunch at a place called "Somewhere Cafe & Lounge". Food was good but pricey. T&C is a pretty pricey place in general, as most goods are imported. Just keep this in mind. Day 3 we took a taxi to Sapodillo Bay beach. This beach was maybe a 10-15 minute drive over to the Caribbean side of the island and also was breathtaking. The water was very shallow so you could walk out maybe 250 feet out before it started to get deep. Amazing water. We took the umbrella and chairs from our villa and boy were we glad we did. There was more of a breeze on the Atlantic ocean side. There were jet skis here if you wanted to rent them. No one bothered you at all. Same at the other beach too. No one walking around selling things or disturbing you. You will feel like you're on your own private beach! There is a pizza restaurant about a tenth of a mile from Kokomo, and there is a large supermarket about 2 tenths of a mile past the pizzeria. The only downside (and they are planning on making a change) is they don't have a restaurant on-site. It would've been nice to order room service but we aren't a fancy family, Like I said up top, I had no problem going to the supermarket and cooking for us. Just being honest here, this wouldn't impact us staying here again. We would love to return! Thank you Gabriella. Your staff really took care of us, and we loved your resort! Hope to see you again!
What an incredible resort! Please stop and look no more. This is a great retreat with incredible customer service starting the moment you book your reservation. The resort will reply to ensure you have directions and everything you need. Upon arrival we were greeted by Kamar who went above and beyond his call of duty, and truly humble. The resort provides you with a cell phone for butler service 24/7, where do you get this? The villas are not on the beach, however, it does have a free shuttle that takes you to a five minute ride to their private reserved beach area where you are greeted by their staff who have water, lounge chairs, umbrellas and towels ready for you. The villa we had was a 2-bedroom with a pull-out couch, bathroom and kitchen. Perfect, so much so, we extended our stay and Gabriela kindly accommodated us without any hesitation. We would go back in a flash! Thank you Kokomo staff for a memorable time!
My husband and I spend an incredible week at Kokomo. Been our first vacation at Turks & Caicos we were really apprehensive as to what to expect. Needless to say that our experience surpassed our expectations and our fears vanished, once we met Mr. Penn at the airport and took us to the resort, amazing person. Gabriela welcomed us and checked us in. The villa is equipped with a full kitchen, living room, spacious two bedrooms, beautifully decorated. The breakfast is served by the pool and is a great time to meet other people and get to chat with the personnel that are beyond friendly The villa is surrounded by trees and flowers, which makes it serene and peaceful. Five minutes to the beach with shuttle offered by the resort. The butlers Jayson and Kamar are the most courteous and amazing people. They offered us their superb service and took care of us 24 seven. At the beach Zevian and Peter equally great, taking care of us setting up the towels, serving us infused water and offering information for the island. If you need to tour the island and you don't want to drive please take Mr. Penn to tour you around he will offer you the inside on the island. Kokomo is the place to stay, with all the amazing people that work there our stay exceeded all our expectations. Jayson, Kamar, Mr. Penn, Zevian, Peter Thank you for all the wholehearted service you provided us with. You are the best!! We will be back Helen, Chris.
My wife and I just returned from an amazing week at Kokomo. This was our second vacation spent in Turks and Caicos and we plan to return every chance we get! Last year we stayed at the sister resort to Kokomo (One on Marlin) and really enjoyed it but wanted to be closer to the pool and spa this time around. We were greeted by the super friendly staff who helped us settle into our villa and described all the new services they've added this past year. The resort provides a cell phone for you to use so your personal butler is never far away. Kamar was our butler for the week and he was absolutely fantastic. The resort has now set aside an area at Grace Bay Beach near The Bight Park and provides a shuttle for those who are weary of driving on the island. At their beach area you'll find sturdy and comfortable lounge chairs, towels, umbrellas, and excellent customer service. Each day we went to that beach we were greeted by Peter with cool fruit-infused water and his friendly attitude. He helped us navigate the beach and even recommended the best snorkeling spots. The villa itself is really comfortable. The kitchen is rather small but it is a fully stocked kitchen with pots, pans, dishes, and a full sized refrigerator. Each villa has it's own dedicated high-speed Internet line that was more than sufficient for our needs (we were streaming Netflix with no buffering issues or anything). The villa was also stocked with a beach umbrella, cooler, beach towels, and folding chairs. These were very handy when we went to explore other beaches. The pool and the gardens around the area are absolutely stunning. Fresh fruits hang in abundance and the views are incredible. At the pool and cabana area there seemed to always be someone ready to bring you fresh fruit or water and provide friendly service. We're already looking forward to our next visit here!
This was our first time to Turks and Caicos and with a family of 5 we were trying to make sure that we had a safe, accessible spot to use as a base. Kokomo exceeded our expectations. Gabriella was extremely hospitable, knowledgeable and a pleasure to meet . The staff (the butlers on site and at the beach) are awesome-couldn't meet nicer and sweeter people than the staff-Thank you to Jason(we miss the musical beachmobile rides!),Kaemar-what a bartender and best guy- Peter and Zavian on the beach patrol-they got bigger biceps from pumping up the paddleboards daily for us! and Maureen in charge of housekeeping-you could not ask for a harder worker. Mr Leroy Penn, the gentleman in charge of airport transportation etc, was a pleasure and made himself available whenever you needed him. I'm going to give a few tips(especially for those families travelling with teens)so that you pack appropriately and know what to expect accommodations -clean and compact .The kitchen is well equipped and if you are missing something (eg a blender) , ask- although I would suggest using a wooden spoon and salad spinner if you plan on eating in and love fresh salads There is a cooler provided for day trips along with 4 beach chairs and an umbrella and beach towels and do take them if you go to Smiths Reef, chalk sound and other outlying beaches-(so dont' pack them!) pack sunscreen and bug spray since these items are expensive on the island-you will need them! pack advil (especially if you plan on drinking Kaemar's mojitos! (just joking Kaemar-they were awesome) a nice touch is that the kitchen is stocked with soft drinks and mixes (sprite, club soda, coke and water) along with wine and alcohol, for purchase, if you don't have chance to get to the grocery store(nearby) . I'm positive that if you have any special requests prior to arrival, the staff could accommodate them-we pre-ordered a case of local beer and it was chilled and ready in the fridge for our arrival (50 US dollars plus tax and service charge) you might think wow-but a case of imported beer at the wine cellar(which by the way carries a huge assortment of wines , liquor and beer) was anywhere from 45-65 US , similar to that of the IGA down the road. the bathroom is small but stocked with soap, shampoo, conditioner and lotion -bring a hair dryer or ask at the front desk for the use of one. the beds are comfortable(although the fan makes a loud noise ) and the roosters are the built in alarm clock and make sure you get an early start-don't worry everyone slept through the crowing after the first day! the suites are air conditioned and well ventilated and yes, there is wifi and cable tv(although the wifi can be a bit sporadic at times) a phone is provided so that you can contact the resort and the "butlers" at any time -and they stay in touch and make sure you are safe and happy--and don't get lost A lovely continental breakfast(fresh croissants and pastries, bagels, yogurt and assorted teas, coffee and orange juice is provided each morning ) and provides an opportunity to talk with other guests if desired or plan your morning and make arrangements. there is a small but very comfortable salt water pool that is not busy. There is a small menu available for sandwiches and drinks should you choose to just stay on property there are laundry facilities-bring your laundry detergent and ask for tokens at the front desk-only one washer and dryer ,each take about a half hour to finish cycle-this means you can pack lightly! another thing, -casual dress--nothing fancy unless you go out to a five star resort and want to wear heels! Having said that, the first couple of days we checked out the pool, took the beach mobile to the beach (where you get umbrella, chairs, towels etc), and explored the general area(the IGA for groceries is within walking distance and shorter if you are shown the shortcut!) but really-rent a car-there are local guys who will rent a small car for about 50/day- and it is well worth it in order to go to salt mills plaza, the hotels on Grace Bay, get up to the wine cellar or Turks Head Brewery, go grocery shopping, dine out , because there are no buses and taxis are expensive. This is getting way too long so if you have questions ask and I will do my best to answer, but you will not be disappointed if you want quiet, clean accommodations that are NOT on the beach but a 5 min drive (or 20 minute walk)to Bight Beach area (where the Thursday night Fish fry takes place) that are reasonably priced. The staff tends to anticipate your every need and goes the extra mile to make sure you enjoy your stay.
This was my first trip to the island and I was nervous about accommodations and getting around. I needn't have been. The staff at Kokomo welcomed me with a drink and numerous smiles! The villa was perfect, hidden away in an alcove of flowering and fruit trees. The service was unmatched: friendly staff assisting you at every turn offering infused water, poolside drinks, botanical lessons, or just island feedback. This service extended to the beach where someone was always waiting with fresh towels, beach toys, natural sun aids, and cool water. I'll certainly be back!
Myself and my fiancé just returned from TCI, and we had the awesome experience of staying at Kokomo Botanical Resort & Spa. Neither of us had visited TCI in the past, and we happened to stumble onto Kokomo Resort during the booking process, read the reviews and took a chance; Needless to say we were extremely happy we did! First things first, I highly recommend renting a car. For a first timer driving on the left side of the road, it was intimidating at first, but did not take long to feel comfortable. Also, as Kokomo is not an all-inclusive resort, it is definitely worth it to rent a car to drive to various beaches/restaurants, not to mention the freedom you have not relying on taxis or shuttles to take you places. We arrived late afternoon to Kokomo, and were promptly greeted with a friendly hello, strong drink, cold face washcloth, and genuine enthusiasm by Jason (butler), who gave us an extremely thorough orientation to the resort (Free parking, Villa/apartment style residences, 2 queen bedrooms with a pull-out sofa bed, full kitchen/dining area, TV, even a private outdoor area if you wanted to do your own charcoal grilling). We were also introduced to Kemar (Butler) and Ordel (Baker/Butler), Maureen (housekeeper), and Chris (Butler) who were all so nice and helpful with anything that we needed (they even provide a local cellphone with their numbers programmed in, and you can call 24/7 for any issues). In terms of other perks of this resort: Beautiful fresh-water pool with waterfall, Continental breakfast (croissants, mixed pastries that were freshly baked, coffee, tea, assorted juices, yogurt, fresh fruit, and Infused water). While it is not a beachfront resort, they make up for this by being extremely close (<5 min drive) and having a shuttle (leaves every hour), where when you get to the beach, you have Zavian and Peter waiting, having already set up ample beach chairs, towels, umbrellas, great music, and as much cold infused water as you can drink. (Pro-tip: Each villa also comes with small cooler, that you can pack with ice and your own adult beverages, and take to the beach yourself for some cheap beach drinking - There is an IGA grocery store <5 min drive away that you can get everything you need) Chris was able to help us out with booking a Snorkeling excursion, which was fantastic!! Everyone was super helpful, and would occasionally check in with us via the cellphone to see if we needed anything. Also, if you rented a car and wanted to see the rest of the island or different beaches, all of the Kokomo rooms also come with 4 beach chairs and a portable table/umbrella that you can load up the car with and take with you to different beaches. They are super simple to assemble, and you have the luxury of going to different beaches (though they are all awesome, its nice to get some variety to mix it up) I know this review is long, so let me just wrap it up by saying that you will not be disappointed by staying at the Kokomo. The staff is just fantastic, the ground are beautiful, and if you don't mind being at a place that is not all-inclusive (I think its awesome, because it forces you to explore the island and all the wonderful restaurants), then this is the place for you.
We just got home from our vacation on the Turks & Caicos Islands. It was a wonderful vacation for our family but staying at this resort made it one of the best we have ever had. Upon arrival we were treated to a drink, warm washcloths, and a complete tour of the property. We hadn't eaten so the staff took us to a nearby restaurant so we could get some dinner. My grown children and grandchildren arrived before us and had told the staff it was my birthday. They actually decorated my bed with flowers, cards, towels made into hearts etc. I was so surprised! The staff almost immediately knew all of eleven of us by name. The breakfast was always good and we were offered fresh fruit throughout the day. The pool area is very nice and is so pretty lit up at night. Kemar arranged scuba driving trips and helped us with arrangements for a trip over to Middle and North Caicos. They were always available to answer any questions that we had. I became sick on our stay and was asked by several of the staff how I was feeling and if I needed anything. Gabrielle, the manager, Kemar, Jason, Maureen (our housekeeper) and many others all went above and beyond during the week to make sure we were having a great time. Also, there is a shuttle that goes to Grace Beach once every hour and on the beach there is staff stationed there with umbrellas, cold water, towels, and chairs. It just made everything so much easier. I completely LOVE this place and I'm sure you will too!
