It's location is fine and the staff are very pleasant, but the interior - both rooms and corridors - is drab and a bit depressing. There's no lounge area that I could see and the reception are is very small. Breakfast was pretty awful....cold scrambled eggs on cold plates and foul-tasting coffee. There is just one lift, big enough for four people at a push, but if you're on the top floor, or even the second, you wouldn't want to climb or descend the dozens of stairs, even without cases!
Honest solution. Very close to both Torino Porta Susa train station (2 minutes walk), both to the city center (15 minutes walk to Piazza Castello). The hotel is clean and confortable despite his age, but hopefully will get better because is under renovation. Good breakfast options.
Porta susa metro and train station are in front of the hotel, the buffet breakfast is good and you can reach the centre of turin in 20 minutes walk. The staff are very friendly especially Alessia Esposito.
We found the whole stay very disappointing. The staff were very moody and unfriendly on reception. The room wasn't ready when we arrived and we had to go back. They did not have a map for us to have and said we had to go to the tourist information centre for one! They said they couldn't ring a taxi for us when leaving! The room was average and not overly clean. Breakfast staff were unfriendly and could see people were looking for things but did not offer help. Even at mid way through time, food ran out like ham and cheese and was too slow to replenish.
It was late, we got there very tired, but the receptionist was very nice and make us home immediatly. The building is hystorical, but for the price and location was good. Clean room, with shower (no bath). Normal breakfast with cheese, ham, scrambled eggs, bacon, juices etc... Staff for breakfast very nice too. satisfactory.
We weren't impressed with the room or the people, possibly because we'd just stayed in wonderful hotels in Nuremberg and Venice. The fridge didn't work, but was connected to the mains, allowing one to get an electric shock from the detached interior light! There was a shower, but no bath. No kettle, of course. Breakfast included bacon, sausage and scrambled egg, which might have been good if they weren't cold (well, tepid). Coffee and tea came from a dispensing machine. There are few restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel. I ended up dining in a Chinese restaurant the far side of the station.
We arrived from the station and were pleased to find the hotel so easily. That's the best thing to be said for it. We checked in and read a notice about imminent change of management but were tired and ready to shower, dine and sleep before onward travel the next day. We arrived in the room to find it overlooking the busy main road and station. It was stifling hot so we tried to adjust the air conditioning which did not appear to be switched on. I went down to reception to ask and the guy said that it was automatic and would only come on when the temperature reached 25 degrees. We were pretty sure it was that already and in any case need it cooler for a decent sleep. So I asked to be moved to a quieter room where we could open the window... not possible. However he did say he'd see what he could do. And when I got back to the room aircon had miraculously started to work. We ate, we slept - we showered in a very basic and poor quality shower that dribbled alternate hot and cold water. Breakfast was served in a corridor next to the 'dining room' which was drab and not terribly clean. They served sweetened fruit juices from a dispenser some yoghurts, bread butter, jam and not much else really. The hot water dispenser put a shot of old coffee into the cup as an added bonus so I didn't drink it. Extremely disappointing.
Convenient location to a train station and the public transportation. A long walk to the center, if repeated a number of times. The staff was very pleasant, but the hotel is "tired" and needs some updating and a good cleaning. The breakfast was marginally acceptable.
We used this hotel as a stopover en route by train to the south of Italy as it is just across the road from the Porta Susa station. The staff were friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English. The room was fairly small but clean and comfortable and perfectly adequate for for a short stay, and the shower was the most powerful of any hotel we have ever stayed in! Breakfast was OK, a fairly limited choice but good quality bread and croissants and all we needed before going to catch our train.
We couldn't have picked a better location for our needs. The hotel was comfortable, cool and welcoming. The room was small but had everything we needed for the 2 nights spent there. The location was perfect for our arrival from savona and the bus station was a few minutes away so we could get the bus to malpensa airport. Easy and enjoyable stroll from the hotel to the sights and the hop on hop off bus pick-up is 2 minutes away. The only negative was the breakfast which was very basic and if you time it wrong there was very little available. However for the price paid it was more than acceptable. We will be returning to Turin in the future and will certainly consider the hotel again.
