we stayed at dar ya for 3 nights and it was really good. the room was clean and comfortable. there was a kitchen for cooking if anybody want. hot shower and clean toilets. and they were really really kind.

I would suggest Dar Ya to anyone visiting Tunis. It’s close to shopping and food in the old and new sections of the city. The rooms were clean and comfortable with plenty of room. The spread of food for breakfast was delicious. From citrus to yogurt to baked goods to eggs to bread and it’s many toppings. And when we arranged to eat dinner there on 2 nights I was wowed yet again with traditional dishes that were prepared in house by an amazing chef! And the people were so welcoming. We enjoyed their hospitality and company each day. Thank you Dar Ya for making our trip unforgettable.

It’s in a beautiful building with nice open spaces and roof top, good size rooms, very clean ,helpful & friendly staff, and a super breakfast. The location is also good within the Medina ...easy to shop, roam, and return

Amazing experiance, Staff were helpful and even organised trip to Sahara. You can ask one of the guys at reception he can help. They can also direct you with local transport, which is a must try. Everything is nearby the souls and medina. Rooms have air con on top floor with wifi. Felt like home

I stayed here four nights and could not have been happier. Staying in the medina is terrific, both for sightseeing during the day and also for going for pleasant walks and cheap bites to eat at night). It is well inside the medina but located in a place that makes it easy to find. The staff are super nice and helpful and accommodating. My room was comfortable, the (shared) bathrooms are clean, there is hot water, and breakfast is big and good. I would definitely recommend it. Great value.

This is everything that my last Medina Dar was not. If you are looking for somewhere traditional, pretty and of-it’s-place, then stay here. If you are in need of a Corby Trouser Press then go and stay in the French bit... and doesn’t expect it to be up to your standards. This is a two star place but the best among all. You’ll share your shower but with few others. The place is clean, and interesting but most of all the people are friendly. However. Are sure you know why you are coming to Tunis. It isn’t tourist-orientated yet. I saw few other foreigners.

Our group was comprised of four mature women who were there to teach at an English camp for a week. We were there in early July and the heat was what one might expect in Tunisia at that time of year: HOT! Dar Ya was a really great experience. Our room was on the first floor, and there was no AC. This traditional style Tunisian home had no windows to the outside so we relied heavily on the fan in our room. I had also brought a small personal fan which I'd recommend. There was another group of 10 teenagers and leaders staying there at the same time, and they had 2 rooms upstairs, one with an AC unit. There were two showers, two sinks, and about 5 toilets which were shared with the other first floor guests. They were cleaned each morning and everything was well-maintained. The morning breakfast was really great and offered hard boiled eggs, sliced tomatoes and cucumbers, pastries, yogurt, coffee and tea served on beautiful Tunisian pottery. The staff are so accommodating and when the gentleman who set up the daily breakfast realized we had an early flight, he made sure we had coffee and pastries. As someone else stated, the lighting in our room was rather dim, but we made it work. Also, WiFi was available for free, but rather weak. I'd definitely stay there again. It was a great location and felt very safe.

The hostel itself is a beautiful house with ceramics on the inside and a traditional courtyard. It is less than 5 minutes away from the center of the Médina. The room was cosy and a locked closet was available. The breakfast was really good and offered a variety of options both foreign and Tunisian. The internet was slow but still functional. The staff was extremely helpful, they picked me up from the taxi since it is quite hard for cars to access and dropped me off to the closest place where I could find a taxi after I checked out. They give me a lot of advice on what is around. Safe and nice for girls traveling alone (my case). It was also really nice to get the chance to talk to the staff about life in Tunisia especially with Hamza, thank you for everything :)

It was a lovely place, located inside the old City, traditional Tunisian house, nice stuff. I recommend it if you're backbag traveler, the shower was good hot water, the breakfast was nice, the people here so nice. And I'm looking forward to visit this place again.

When I arrived the front desk man (Bashear) walked out to greet me at my taxi. (Your taxi can't drive to the front door, street is too narrow). As I checked in he got me a map of the medina and marked out good places to eat and how to get around. The owner (I think) doesn't speak English and my grade 8 French is weak to say the least, was so nice as well. When I was checking out he grabbed my big backpack and carried it 2or 3 blocks to get me a cab to the train station. The room was clean and the breakfast was amazing, I recommend getting up early at least one day to enjoy the fresh pastries while they are warm.
