The pictures are accurate and that’s pretty much what the place looks like, the staff were attentive and deserve credit for working hard. They call the place boutique and that too is accurate but it’s not a great value. It’s a very small, bare bones hotel with a tiny pool no television or refrigerator but more importantly—good AC and nice high ceilings. The big sell is the beach which I would’ve enjoyed If the unpredictable seaweed hadn’t ruined things. Lower the price —significantly— and call it a solid 3-star and they’ll get better reviews. I wish them great success as they rethink their approach.

We showed up with a paid for confirmed reservation done 3 months prior and they claimed they had no record of if. Said it was some issue with them and orbitz but reviews show that I’m not the only one this has happened to. Only reason not fully one star is the desk woman helped us find a place to stay elsewhere. We were very lucky because tulum was almost full. There is something not quite right about this place and the story we were told. Go elsewhere

Do not stay at this hotel! There were ants in the room by the bed and we got bitten in our sleep. That is UNACCEPTABLE for a hotel where you're paying more than $200 per night. Ground floor room and the window doesn't lock -- didn't feel safe. Room described as "Ocean view" but it's actually partial ocean view because half of your view is a wall. Definitely not worth the price. There is and has been a problem with the ocean here for sometime, it's not how it looks in the photos. It's brown and there is a terrible smell. This has been going on for months. Beware.

THIS HOTEL IS A SCAM DO NOT STAY HERE!!! There are far better options in Tulum for the price they charge. This hotel is extremely under-kept and present itself as a "4 star hotel" when it is actually more like a 1 star.

After checking in & reviewing the property, my fiancé and I quickly asked for a refund/cancellation. The pictures online look nothing like this hotel. It does not have a beautiful pool. It has a tiny pool right next to the reception desk/road where there are bugs floating and mosquitoes swarming ahead. The lawn around the pool and in the “restuarant” has not been mowed in weeks. There was also a strong sewer stench throughout the property. I have been coming to Tulum for years (my 3rd time this year alone!) and I am very aware of what to expect when I travel to this rustic town. This hotel was nothing like I’ve seen before. Just when I thought things couldn’t be worse, the owners could care less about any of our concerns. The were so money-hungry the only response they had was “you can leave, but we will keep the deposit for the entire stay”. Because we just spent a lot of money for this 4 night trip, financially we were forced to stay. The beach beds were filthy. We sat on the beach all day without any service for beverages or food. The hotel bathrooms and showers have a vulgar smell to them. The hotel rooms are built like tee-pee/huts; therefore, at night, it was so cold due to the draft coming through the roof. And finally, there was some sort of animal or bird inside our room!! It was making noises in our ceiling every night! We we’re terrified and cold every night. We ran out of there and could not wait to leave. Feel completely robbed by both the hotel and orbitz.

We needed a stress free vacation! We didn't want a Resort even though their very nice but just needed peace and enjoy the beach. This place is small, modern, very peaceful, rooms are huge, no T.V. (: very comfortable, No iron in room (never requested one)... since I brought my travel iron and enjoyed our beautiful turquoise beach view (Room#102) ..Air Conditioner worked GREAT!!! Breakfast was delicious!! Thank you Kamila and the other cleaning ladies you'll did an excellent job throughout our stay! Clean sheets, towels, everything!! Smelled fresh!! Also, thanks to the security guys in making sure we get a taxi quick and to all other staff for making our stay pleasant. I want too especially Thank Miss. Monica..she went above and beyond to make sure our stay was great!! Also,Thank you Mr. Julio for making sure we were enjoying our stay. This place was perfect, will definitely return and will recommend with friends and family!!

My wife and I felt at home at Arena Blue for the week we were there. We now feel like family to the management and staff. The service was not only impeccable but each staff member went out of their way to provide us with top notch service, information, and as many accomodations as we needed. The management is very insightful about the local area and recommended us on some fantastic day trips, including the Mayan ruins, snorkeling the reef at Cozumel, and boating with dolphins and turtles. The rooms were clean, intimate bungalo-types viewing the carribean. It was heaven. And all the staff and management made sure we had everything we needed to have a spectacular time. My wife and I will forever remember everyone at Arena Blue. And hopefully we will come back and see them again. Thank you guys!

The staff is amazing! The views in every room is great. The hotel is great for couples or people looking for romantic privacy. Not for singles looking for some type of action. The location is great in walking distance to many hot spots in Tulum. I would recommend it!

Hi thanks for your feedback, is very important for us. Is important to clarify that Tulum is a special area. There is no electricity and watewr and we have to use a geberator to have all the service and the mayority of the hotel don't have AC 24 hours for this reason. This is the reson we don't have television and refrigerator

Dear Friend, First of, we are sorry you did not enjoyed your stay at the hotel. As for the ants, you might have noticed that our staff make a daily, deep clean of the room. Despite this, we are locate right in between ocean and jungle and ants in the room, like other insects, altough we clean rooms every day, might depends from many other things, like leaving dirty dishes outside your room all night after dinner, after our room service has ended (10pm), and/or leaving windows/door open. We are near the jungle, immerse in the nature, insects live there and one must be more clever than them. We take no responsibility for ants in your room, sorry. We fixed your lock right away and your answer, when our front desk employee Jonathan told you this was "me da igual", like saying you do not care. What else could have we done to make you happy? As for the room, we have Ocean Front and Ocean View. The difference is that Ocean View are few yards back respect to the Ocean Front (if you pay attention there is a logic) therefore you see little part of them on your view. If you check pictures on our webiste this is clear. As for the "problem with the ocean", we clean the beach every single day, we hired 4 workers to especifically do this, the brown color of the water depends from seaweed which we have no control over, but thanks for considering us responsible for this too. We wish you all the best for your next vacations. Kind regards, Cris Viola - Co-owner @ ArenaBlue

Dear Friend, We are not surprised to read your negative comments, as your attitude was crystal clear since the very beginiing. The pictures of our hotel portray the property exactly as it is, there are no artefact whatsoever. The pool is a small pool, we never say otherwise though, so it is not clear to us what you expected. The pool we keep it clean all the time but, being us between see and rain forest, bugs and mosquitos might appear. It is really unheard news that rooms are cold at night, this is the Mescian Caribe and not the Sahara desert. Anyway, we have lots of blanket you only needed to ask. As for the seaweed, sorry we lost our remote control to manage it! We clean the beach every day, we cannot do more than this. If oyu have any constructive siggestions, please go ahead. You booked a non-refundable, therefore we aven't refund you. So simple. You added quite a bunch of lies (bathroom smelling bad and so on) that only show us your bad attitude. We are the first to admit when it is our fault, unfortunately for you, this was not the case. Hope you can find your peace of mind elsewhere for your holydays, My best, Cris Viola - Co-Owner at ArenaBlue Tulum

Hello Maria, It has been a pleasure to have you at ArenaBlue and we thank you very much for this great review. About the fridge in the room, we had this on our plans, but we must face reality: we already have two power units (one main and one emergency) because it is the only way to get electricity in that area. Adding 10 fridges, one per room, would mean placing a third power unit. The problem is that they are noisy and take space, space that we have not as the property is not very big. This said, if we will have fridges in the rooms you'll be the first to know about! :-) We thank you for choosing ArenaBlue, and we hope to see you again soon.
