I wrote to the hotel before departing, and have not had a response to the feedback I have provided. In summary, I am bitterly disappointed and very surprised that the establishment holds itself out to be a four star venue. As a frequenter of luxury and high end accommodations, it is my opinion that Tullamore Court Hotel falls incredibly short of the associated standards with such a prestigious claim. Specific examples: - the decor is dated and ageing terribly. In the main foyer there are numerous examples of torn wallpaper and patchy repair jobs on the carpets / walls were new small pieces have been inserted to address wear and tear (rather than fuller / whole replacements) - the furniture in the open spaces is quite frankly disgusting and must be borderline health hazard - the marks, stains and loss of any support in the couches and chairs actively turned me off using any of the spaces unless essential to do so - the room, whilst tightly maintained by the in-house maid service, is in dire need of a refurb - the sealant around the bath is partially damaged / covered in black spots; the shower is significantly inadequate for anyone over 5’7; the weather sealant in the windows is visibly deteriorating; the sounds from the lift on the external wall is a complete distraction / annoyance at night; the television and available entertainment is woefully lacking; the “kettle” should have been replaced with in-room coffee machines many years ago - the service staff are too stretched, putting aside grave yard Sunday and the all-Ireland final, the staff are not sufficiently attentive and whilst focused on outcomes, have an alarmingly low knowledge of the menu (when I ordered a cocktail one night from the menu, they had no idea what it was, then the bar staff had no idea how to make it - surprising as this is listed as one of the special cocktails (margarita)). Also, the nightly staff looking after residents are incredibly immature - they were noticeably fooling around on Saturday night - the quality of the food is the worst I have come across, ever. One guest came down with an upset stomach one day. Firstly, the buffet breakfast is just disgusting. The bacon itself was mostly grey, having clearly been very close to turning before being cooked. The quality of the fried eggs were rubbery; the hash browns were soggy and not with a crunch as you would expect; the pastries appeared to be made with margarine and not butter; no clotted cream for scones; a wait every morning for seating even when there are few patrons in the restaurant. For the evening meals - we tried the chorizo and chickpea salad - clearly all the ingredients came from Aldi / Lidl equivalent (the chorizo were sandwich slices lightly fried); the mains overly relying on reheating in a microwave; from the lunch menu the steak ciabatta sandwich was flavourless (steak and fried / boiled onion) with no seasoning (meal served sans the garlic mayonnaise) and the steak, whilst cooked as ordered, had zero flavour - it tasted as though previously frozen and not aged in the slightest, I would be very surprised if this wasn’t low grade flank steak - the leisure facilities regularly have issues with the female lockers not working. My guest had an issue with several lockers each time in the early hours (and why is there not a female member of staff on hand in the mornings in the leisure facility as well - both mornings they used the facilities there was only a male member of staff (although he helped as best he could on both occasions)) In summary, it is my opinion that this hotel is better reserved amongst the ranks of 2 star hen / stag do equivalent hotels and not the luxury 4 star end of the market. I would be really concerned about the loss of future trade where the apparent mainstay of elderly guests is not replaced by future generations (and this hotel has no offering's for those individuals with disposable income / future generations of guests). The hotel desperately needs an overall and cash injection to bring up to standard, an overhaul of the wait staff and their uniforms / etiquette, a complete revamp of the menu.
Stayed here for 3 night b&b with evening meal and was good value over the August bank holiday weekend. However, we had stayed previously, although it was 15 years ago, and it didn’t have the luxurious feel it had on previous occasions. Our room was very spacious though felt basic. No air conditioning which I hadn’t checked before booking as I booked it on memory and hadn’t checked reviews or hotel spec. Didn’t use pool so can’t comment on that. Furniture in room and reception was tired and dated. TV and WiFi in room was pretty useless, we had to use our mobile data. Breakfast to our room had a very poor selection and disappointing. Breakfast in restaurant was busy on the Monday but better on the Tuesday as it was table service for cooked breakfast with more choice. Dinner in bar was tasty and all staff throughout the hotel were excellent, including housekeeping. Didn’t dine in restaurant as thought the menu was very limited. Enjoyed our stay as good value.
Recently visited the Tullamore court with a party of six adults. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, as was the bed. Everywhere in the hotel was clean and well kept. The bar was nice, and had live music on both nights of our stay. We used the restaurant one evening and the food was superb, all of us agreed. If we are ever back in the area I would have no hesitation staying at the Tullamore court.
I recently stayed at this hotel with my husband and 2 sons (aged 12 & 16). The family room was spacious with a double bed and 2 single beds, still leaving plenty of room for the table and 2 chairs. Complimentary bottled water & bathroom toiletries were provided with the usual tea / coffee making facilities. The bedroom was warm and cleaned daily with clean towels, additional bathroom toiletries and bottled water replaced. We all enjoyed the heated swimming pool which wasn't too busy and the only negative thing I would say is that this area could do with a bit of decorating. The breakfast was tasty with plenty of cereals, juices, breads etc and you ordered your hot breakfast when seated. The staff at all times were friendly and professional. I would recommend this hotel for a nice family break.
A massive let down to say the least. The hotel looks very grand and classy from the outside but the inside is anything but. The room was old, outdated and rusting and the TV wasn’t working. The hotel is very noisy at night time hosting weddings and local singers. Some of the staff came across as cold and impolite when challenged about the noise. If you want a quiet night stay then stay away from the Tullamore Court!
Nice hotel. Undergoing a revamp and the restaurant and bar are great. The rooms are lovely. The staff are exceptional. Maladin, Joanne and Mary went far above and well beyond the call of duty! Tell them "well done"!! Thanks, Darragh
As a family between 4 and 7 of us have stayed at this hotel for more than 5 years. We have always found hotel very noisy but this stay has been horrendous and we will never stay again! Loud music , cheering, shouting and what sounds like karaoke has been going on until after 5am. We have rung reception then gone down to reception and we were told ‘there is a wedding party and they are paying guests too!” What an absolutely disgraceful attitude to your other guests.
My sister in laws wedding was here and it became one of our favorite spots in Offaly! Great location, amazing staff, clean rooms and amazing restaurant / bar with decently priced food options! Kid friendly with a pool!!
Clean, comfy, modern rooms. A great leisure centre. Fantastic staff. Wonderful food. There was nothing the staff couldn't do for you, from check in to check out. The food in both the breakfast room and restraunt was delicious. Would definitely stay again.
Living in tullamore 20 years I am a regular to the court Hotel... Decided to go for evening food with my daughter.. Sat across from the bar up on the seating at a height... We had to ask for menus as the server did not see us sitting down and we waited 10 mins.. Ordered the prawns tempura for starters.. They were really nice.. Got the vegeterian curry and it was really bad.. Did not taste like a curry! .. When the server came to take our plates she asked was there a problem... I said I did not like my curry and she went to her manager and I was offered a free tea or coffee.. I declined as I do not drink them.. Got the sticky toffee pudding for dessert and it was OK... Bill arrived after waiting 20 mins and trying to get the attention of the server and my curry is on the receipt for 11.75...i feel that the hotel should have waived this as I clearly did not eat my main meal... Having had numerous lunches and our yearly Christmas party in here I feel standards have slipped... Won't be returning in a hurry
