The Smokehouse Lodge and Cabins

The room was comfortable but there was a grinding noise we heard through the walls every night starting after 3am in the morning on and off kept waking us up! But is was a very homey place to stay!

hotel is dated bed are real comfortable food in restaurant was bad the heater in the room was very noisy

The non-smoking room I rerserved reeked of smoke. I was offered a can of air freshener with an explanation that they didn't keep up with the smoking policy very often. When I said that fragrance wouldn't actually remove the smoke that I can not endure for medical reasons, I was told my only option was to "upgrade" to a cabin that nearly doubled my room rate. It was late at night and my only other option was to leave town, so I took it. The cabin was absolutely filthy, dead insects, hair, and debris in all corners. There was something (I don't want to know what) so sticky on the vinyl sofa that the throw pillows stuck to them and would only stretch when I tried to pick them up. There were no sheets on one bed. The lock didn't work so I had to hold the door closed with a chair to stop it blowing wide open all night. There was a steady dribble of rain water coming in the bathroom ceiling. The sink spigot was so loose that the entire thing shifted when I tried to turn on the water. There was no wifi despite giving me a password, no coffee for the maker (which was too dirty to use anyhow), and one set of towels for two guests. If I had not been traveling with an elderly parent, I would have slept in my car. The young women at the desk were nice, but said they had no authority to adjust my bill, but would give the mgr my email. I had always been told to stay away from this place, but took a chance because other local hotels were sold out. I deeply regret not heading that warning

I was pleasantly surprised with the cabin I stayed in. It's definitely not new, but in good condition/ And hey, it's not supposed to be the 5 star variety. It had everything I needed, was clean enough. The front staff was very pleasant and helpful, I ate dinner at the restaurant and it was classic barbecue.

Nice clean and roomy room. A bit off the highway. But easy to find.

I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. Very low water pressure as well.

We had a great experience. It was a nice place and a great location. The staff was very nice.

The sheets were stained and when asking the desk I was informed that the rule of thumb is that for any stain smaller than the size of a quarter that housekeeping was to use the sheets. I asked for a refund and was given a 20 discount. The room should have been fully refunded and with apologies.

Cute little lodge located a few minutes drive from Sewanee and the University campus. Decor was very rustic and cute. Basically, you got what your paid for. My only complaint would be that our room smelled heavily of mildew, but that may just be me and my super sensitive nose.

Hotel is clean and convenient. The Smoke House Restaurant is has a great breakfast buffet.

Other than the rain and fog we had a very nice time. I really enjoyed the live Music performed by Travis Bowlin. People really need to listen to his music. Thanks for the vacation. Sincerely Rodney S Bennett

The rooms were clean. The staff was friendly. The location was perfect for our weekend. So glad this is where I ended up. The best part of the whole weekend was The Smokehouse... great food and the people there are so friendly. I love the layed back atmosphere. It was a very peaceful and restful weekend. Thanks so much to the staff there.

This was an average place to stay. It was very clean and the bed comfy. Chair was not comfortable. Wished the pool had been ready.

When we arrived in our room it smelled musty and the lighting was rather dim. Our room had not been stocked with any towels so I had to return to the front desk. The staff was pleasant and helpful, but not enough to make up for the hotel. We were in town for an event that started later in the evening, so we thought we would enjoy the pool beforehand. Unfortunately the water was filled with algae and completely disgusting. The air conditioner was quite loud, and I had to use ear plugs just to get some sleep. Overall the entire experience was disappointing, I don't plan on staying there again.

The rooms at the lodge are nice. Not huge, but nicely decorated and clean. Everything worked fine. The adjacent general store is well worth visiting. There are all kinds of fudge and anything else you can think of, but the smoked meats are fantastic. I got the smoked turkey. Wonderful! And Mike, who does the smoking, gave me a tour of the store (it wasn't crowded at the time). At the restaurant, I got the grilled cheese with sides of fried green tomatoes (yummy) and turnip greens (okay). I recommend the buffet instead of the menu since there are more options and it's faster.

The room was well furnished and decorated simply but attractively. I was delighted with the feel of the place as it has been run by the same family for 60 years. The town is super small, but we were there because of The University of the South and the hotel was very close to campus. The staff was accomplished and very friendly. Lots of grounds for the kiddos to run and play. We will stay there again.

Staff was friendly, room was clean & comfortable. It is in a park-like location: woods, trees, etc.

Clean nice rooms, friendly staff, just couldn't find thermostat & it got very cold

The staff was very friendly, but the room was very ordinary.

Stayed for 3 nights at the Smokehouse and had a great experience. The room was very clean and the beds were super comfortable. Everyone was friendly and helpful and the ground floor room on the backside was peaceful. The smell of barbecue cooking added to the ambiance! Very convenient to the University of the South-will definitely be back!
