Description to this listing was mostly accurate. For the price, this is a safe place to stay with a roof over your head. I would not suggest this as a place to stay if you plan to spend most of your time in the VRBO as it is quite small. A few suggestions I would have to make this space a bit better is remove/replace the couch cover as it has holes and does not look the most pleasant. Also the bathroom door desperately needs to be shimmed or shaved on the top. Closing and opening this door posed worries that we were going to break the door handle off. Other than these small flaws, this property had everything that was explained in the posting. The nightclub near the rear of the building was not too loud over the weekend but you could definitely hear it until they closed at 2am (keeping the fan that was provided on helped drown out the noise a lot). The onsite parking is an added bonus, but it should be known that when all rooms are full in this building, this parking lot can really only accommodate smaller vehicles, as the spots are rather tight.

Couch desperately needs replacing. We enjoyed the location more than the cramped unit. However, the unit did have a certain offbeat charm.

The unit was a bit smaller than expected but the bed was comfortable. We were out most of the day and only there in the evening, so basic accommodations and good sleeping conditions were what we were seeking. The building is vintage and so is the kitchen. The kitchen had a vintage sink and space for a single plug in countertop burner, so you could not do a lot of cooking, and it has a dorm size under the counter fridge, which was perfectly adequate for the few perishables we had. We ate breakfast in the unit. There was a brewery within walking distance, literally 2 blocks away, so that was a very convenient place to eat in the evening. Driving and walking are pretty easy in the city, and it was easy to get in and out of the parking lot the building had. The host was very friendly and communicative and we exchanged several messages. Check in and check out information was very clear. The only possible issue for some may be that there was a small dance club across the street that was kind of noisy, but the air conditioning unit covered up most of that noise, so decent sleep was still possible for us. We stayed for 3 nights, which was a good amount of time to stay here.

The property could use some structural updates. The back outdoor stairs were blocked off because the stairway was twisted and not sound. The interior stairway stair treads were carpeted, but the treads were sagging and likely rotten underneath. The unit itself was clean and adequately stocked, bed and pillows very comfy. Nice little stash of coffee and creamers for the morning. :)The (very small) shower should have a new shower head installed, one that would allow it to be on a handle that could be adjusted upwards, as I’m 5’8 and had to squat down about 4” to get under the spray to wash and rinse my hair, as the shower head came about to my nose…..Lastly, the unit I had was in the back of the house and across the street from the house is a small night club that had music blaring and bass thumping until 2:30 am Sat night of my stay. So glad I had no need to be up early Sun AM. (I also noticed that the road behind the unit, where you park, seems to be a well traveled route for the city’s homeless. I saw at least 6 people pushing their carts and such back there over the weekend. Maybe the road leads to shelter?) No issues, just a little unsettling. On the plus side, The property manager (Troy) was a great communicator and got the heat working in the unit, so that was a win. Overall though, the property was a bit disappointing.

place was clean and convenient, tight quarters so moving around the bed was a challenge, also floor isn't level so the bed appeared to be on an incline. My wife and I were always rolling to one side. shower is tiny but functional. Also, the smoke/CO detector went off in middle of night for no apparent reason one night. That was obviously disturbing

The place looked better in the pictures than in person. The couch in particular had seen better days and the cover on the couch wasn’t attractive and kept falling off. Our room was next to the back steps which were rickety and unsafe. Could have used the front steps which were more useable but our room was next to the back steps and the parking lot so it made sense to use those steps. Location was adequate but not necessarily close to the action in town. Walkable? Yes but was too far for an out of shape 72 year old. A bicycle would have been helpful.

Great Short Stay
This property worked great for our Mini Moon for just a few days. We spent most of our time exploring TC. The location was walkable for some of the activities we planned but not all. Exactly what we expected for the budget friendly price.

Great Location
This is an older property with typical issues related to older architecture. This is a great property for someone who wants to spend there time out-n-about in Traverse City. Lots of stuff is easily within walking distance. A bike shop with rentals is just down the street. It is only a few minute ride to downtown TC.
Great communication with the management of the property

It was a place to stay…
There was some confusion regarding checkin with the initial communication/instruction due to a change in the hosts process. All in all, check in was otherwise quite smooth. The place was very clean with the exception of the shower, which was very tiny. There was some mildew at the bottom corner of the shower curtain that flaked off into the shower. Additionally, around the seams of the shower surround it was black and unpleasant looking. The location was great for access to all of the things that we wanted to see and do. A drawback to the neighborhood is that there was a dance club across the street that had incredibly loud bass that you could feel reverberate throughout the apartment as you were trying to sleep. Property manager was communicative and helpful with questions as they arose, but it was initially unclear what phone number should be called to reach them.

Pull String Stay
Property was priced cheap, but needs major updates. Shower is sized for a child, bed is creaky and uncomfortable.
Ceiling paint over the bed is also peeling/looks like it’s going to fall on you.
You could hear residents/other renters walking like they were right on top of you at all hours.
Host kept asking for us for a 5 star review in exchange for a good review on our end. I don’t like that pressure, I want to be honest for future renters.
We would not stay here again based on the almost doubling of nightly rates unless it was majorly updated. Honestly wouldn’t stay again even if it was at the same rate again. Spend more for a better place. Traverse city has a lot more to offer than this!

The French Cat is in a great location, close to the bay and all the downtown fun! The apartment was very clean, small, but had all the room and amenities we needed. And Troy was an attentive host - his instructions for our check in were detailed, was quick to respond to our inquiries, and made check out a breeze. Thanks for a great getaway!

Great location but property needs some updates
The location was wonderful; lots to do within walking distance and much more within a 5 minute drive. Note this is a 2nd story unit so you must haul luggage upstairs. The place is cute but needs some updating and repairs. Shower was tiny and showerhead very low so ideal for short people. No ceiling fan in bedroom but there was a floor fan in living room we moved into bedroom.

Great location and price for a stay in Traverse City
We had a wonderful time on our visit! A seemingly historic building with parking and a place to lock up our bikes which we appreciated. Spacious bathroom with a shower, bedroom and living kitchen area was all we needed. Quick walk to downtown and very close to Boardman Lake and the Tart Trail.

Excellent value and location
I was very impressed with this property. The location couldn’t be better with everything very accessible downtown. The property was very comfortable, clean, and with a cool vibe. Would stay here again.
