Nice clean hotel. My room was large and orderly. Breakfast was very good. There was not much around the hotel but it was near the train station and well situated for my needs. The staff were very friendly and spoke english well (they were also kind and tolerant of my strictly conversational German).
I am always careful when I book Courtyard Hotels as they are so inconsistent in quality and design. This one is one of our favourites though - we come here for years with our event Princess for one day. The rooms are very nice, the atmosphere is great and the breakfast is outstanding. We will sure come back. REMARK: if you know me or have read my comments before, you may skip this bit. If I am "new to you": I am a noted music photographer traveling the world since the early 80's. Shooting up to 250 shows a year I have really seen the world. Of course I do understand that there is a difference between five stars and five stars: I have been to some of the most celebrated chefs - even photographed them for the covers of their books - and have experienced mind-blowing meals. I mean, really meals that you will remember for ever. This particular hotel is, due to the nature of its business and its price point, not get anywhere close to these special experiences. I trust you understand it would be comparing not apples with oranges but apples with truffles ;-) However, we had a fantastic time and experienced an outstanding service. So while this place is far from being close to "The Ritz", I will sure go again if I am in the area and would always recommend it to the non-snob friends of mine ;-)
Funny, I recently read a review of the Courtyard from someone who had stayed there before Christmas. The problems the reviewer mentioned were the same ones I ran into at the end of January: inefficient or surly help from women at the reception, incompletely cleaned rooms (the drinking glasses were filthy!) and nastiness about the credit card - again, from a woman at reception. On a positive note, the rooms are a very nice size, the health club was clean and all the male staff I dealt with were courteous, helpful and professional. If they were the only statistic I had with which to rate the hotel, I'd never book anywhere else. As it is, though, I doubt I'd go back; and I certainly wouldn't recommend it.
Hotel was nice. Only stayed one night, but rooms clean, modern and comfortable. Breakfast was OK, and there is a nice bar to relax in. About a 10/15 minute walk to the main town. Would use again if required.
I stayed at the Marriott on several occasions. The hotel was above average in all respects. Excellent facilities. The hotel had a great restaurant, bar, spa & fitness center. great access to other cities namely Vienna to the east & Salzberg to the west. A few words of caution not related to the hotel in any way, just the Austrian area. if hiking in the countryside or mountains during the summer. Parts of Europe in and around Austria have a tick problem with approx 30 to 40% infected with tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) virus and Lyme disease with risks if bitten by an infected tick. The local population have been inoculated & vaccination is something to consider.
I stayed in the Hotel just before Christmas time for 4 nights. Unfortunately the experience was not very good… To begin with, upon check in, i was asked my credit card as to proceed with the pre-authorization of the stay which is a typical procedure . What is not so typical though , is blocking my credit card several times repeatedly ,4 times to be more accurate, and not the correct amount. When I asked the reception to double check in order to amend it before the end of the day, they checked their screen very quickly and assured me that it was just 50 euros per night….on the contrary! 3 days later I had to inform them again about the mistake and it was only then when they realized it and they would rectify it, it took 3 weeks for the amount to be released back to my bank account….Moreover, housekeeping needs to pay more attention and not only to detail but in general the cleaning of the room. Before sleeping please make sure you check under the bed….there might be a surprise from the previous stay! I happened to check and found a toy ( a small box with play cards for kids). When i mentioned that at the reception , again on the arrival day, the girl looked surprised and just said sorry…like it is a common thing. Front Desk is in a serious need of training as far as the customer care issues are concerned. In the positive of the Hotel is the restaurant which is quite decent and the food is tasteful with few choices. Breakfast is delicious and the staff there is very polite and friendly. The rooms are quite spacious and comfortable.
I was in this hotel +/- 5 times and this is my review: Pros: - quiet rooms - clean rooms - friendly staff - good bar/restaurant Cons: - interior of the rooms is a bit outdated - you have to pay for wifi - quality of the room service food is bad - location: 25 minutes by foot to the city centre
I visited Linz with my son over the weekend. We checked in around 3 in the afternoon. Lady at the reception was very friendly and had us checked in in no time. I thought the lobby had an enjoyable atmosphere. Rooms are spacious enough to feel at home. If there is a negative, it was the toilet that was not exactly clean. Due to the adverse weather, we spent more time than initially planned in the hotel room. But we enjoyed. It is a 20 minute walk to the city center, but if you catch the right street, you're entered 10 minutes after leaving the hotel. I had a very good night of sleep. The bed is comfortable and it was quiet, even if there was some concert going on next door. Given the amount of people in the hotel, I was expecting more from the breakfast. I've been in much smaller hotels that offered a wider variety of food. Maybe the brand is known in the area, but offering juice in bottles is not my preferred option. We relaxed in the morning in the room until we checked out right before 12.00. It is not in our plans to come back any time soon, but Coutyard by Marriott is certainly in option in case we will be here again
Stayed overnight at this hotel conveniently located just outside the city centre of Linz, Austria.the hotel ,although usually rather fully booked due to the lack of international hotel chains, still manages to take good care of its guests. The modern hotel is about 15 minutes walking time to the very centre of Linz, has ample parking. Breakfast is excellent, although very busy when we staid.they do have a well-stocked pantry at very reasonable prices which comes convenient if you don't feel like eating in the restaurant.I had a chance to try the restaurant on an earlier visit and it was excellent with a comfortable outdoor garden if it's the right time of the year..too cold this time. Associates are welcoming friendly and helpful.don't expect much of an upgrade if you are Marriott elite as they have very few suites.I booked a superior room which was comfortable and modern and it comes with a fridge with a couple of free drinks.I received a typical Austrian sweet welcome gift as a returning guest which I found a very nice gesture.the bar is in a very trendy design. They also have a small gym.Definitely a place to return and recommended
We are elite gold members with Marriott and have stayed at many Marriott properties. This Courtyard was one of the worst. Reception was not very welcoming. Courtyard offers nothing to elite members. No perks for breakfast, only wifi. Front desk did give us a bag of crispy cheese sticks....wow. Our reservation was for a king bed. We walked into the room and saw 2 small beds. Then the second room which had 1 bed but the phone did not work. If we needed anything, we had to go to front desk. Parking price is outrageously high. Location not ideal to the center. It is a long walk to the center through some shady parts of town. One of the front desk girls never heard of Cesky Krumlov, really? The main reason we stayed at this property. Overall, not very happy with this hotel.
