I stayed here for 3 nights in October 2017. The resort is on a cliff so there is no direct access to the beach but White Sands beach is less than a ten minute walk, as are convenience stores and bars. Restaurants and pubs even closer. The man I dealt with at reception spoke English, the grounds and rooms neat and tidy although there doesn’t appear to be many rooms with sea views. Can’t comment on restaurant as I didn’t eat there but pool was nice. My only minor complaint would be about noise from bullfrogs in the pond outside my room. Happy with the price I paid and service they provided.
We stayed for 4 nights in May and I hardly ever saw another guest. I think the reception staff spoke only a little English because they had all of their conversations with my wife (she is Thai) and hardly spoke to me. The hotel is near the top of a steep hill and the rooms consist of bungalows in a hilly area with nice gardens. So if you have problems walking I would not recommend. The hotel does have an infinity pool which is very clean. The breakfast has a good selection to choose from. We had an ocean view room. The room had an unobstructed view of the sea through large windows. The room also had an outside seating area. The TV had loads of channels with a couple of english movie channels. There are bars and restaurants nearby and no noise can be heard from the hotel.
As the name indicates Chang Cliff Resort is built on a cliff and this means a steep site and no beach. The ocean view rooms have stunning views of the sea and as they are west facing normally have great sunsets each evening. The balconys are small just large enough to hold a table and two chairs. The sea view rooms have limited views of the sea so rather pay the extra for an ocean view room. If you are looking for a quiet location and being off the beaten track then this is an ideal hotel. A scooter is a must to get to the beaches, bars and shopping areas as there are limited facilities close by. There is a very good Thai restaurant at the main road and a small bar but for instance there are no 7-eleven shops close so plan ahead. It is a couple of km's to White Sands Beach so normally if you don't have a scooter you would catch a taxi which will cost 50 baht per person each way (the cost of a scooter for one day is 250 baht). The rooms are adequate, clean, comfortable, serviced daily and come with kettles, hair dryers and a mini bar. Breakfast was good with a selection of cereals, yogurts, eggs to order and a selection of meats and noodle dishes. The pool is a little on the small side and does not get much sun but is adequate for cooling off. Wifi is free but irritating as you have to keep logging in each time you want to use the service. This site is a way off the main road and quite far from the nearest beaches so depending on the type of holiday you want to have it will either work or not this is ideal for relaxing as there is no noise but it is quite far from the action. We enjoyed our stay here.
I stayed at this hotel in mid November 2016, lovely location, off the beaten track, but close enough to the white sands bar area, very helpful and polite staff. Pool a little on the small side, but such a relaxing place, I would definitely go again!
We stayed almost a week. We really enjoyed the views, we had a seaside room s2. We also liked the room very much, it didn't feel like prison at all and it was clean and the housekeeping personel was very careing and sweet. The sun bed in the terrace was comfortable. The breakfast was ok, not great, but the hotels own? peacock made it a little more of an experience. The location is not in the center, but it's nice and quiet and with motorbike's it's very nice.
Unless you hire a bike, it will be difficult to access decent restaurants, the beach or pretty much anything from this hotel. Don't bother eating here unless you're desperate. Staff do not speak English. The night before we checked out, we arranged with staff for a cab to take us to the ferry. We had to be on time or we'd miss the ferry and the subsequent bus ride and plane ride. The next morning, no can shows up. Staff don't see to know anything about a booking and said that it was impossible to get a can at that time of the morning. Thanks guys! We hulled our luggage up the long driveway to the main road and waited until a can eventually came. We BEARLY made the ferry.
I really liked this resort - clean rooms, nice cliff views, great breakfast, very friendly staff and best value for price in high season. Would definitely return! P.S.: yes, it's not next to the beach, but who doesn't rent a scotter in Koh Chang? ;)
small bungalows on a cliff ,front line as views to sea ,worth staying in if you want to wake up looking at the sea, great sun sets ,rooms very basic but very clean ,new beds and a pleasure to sleep in .i ,stayed second row back sea view restricted ,but still nice views of garden ,lovely gardens no pool ,viewing walk way round cliffs with stunning views ,stayed extra two nights would stay here again , downside breakfast just ok ,shower just ok
We (me 50y. and my daughter 21y) can NOT recommend this "hotel". We changed after 2 days and found a MUCH BETTER hotel for the same price. Unbelievable that they can get these prices! We paid $30 a day (May 2014) - half would be enough! They gave us a room without sea view (plenty rooms were empty, we were almost alone at breakfast). The room was awful! Sticky, dump, run-down. Communication with the stuff was difficult (very poor English), but they tried to help. The location is at the hill, a joke! No way down to the sea!!! But you can see the sea from some viewpoints. To come to the water you have to go down the street (15 min. walk or rent a scooter - not possible at the hotel!).
Of the three hotels we'd stayed at on Koh Chang, unfortunately this one was the most disappointing. It was cheap, and the rooms were okay, with a balcony and self contained bathroom. However, it was a long walk up the hill with no help with our luggage, there was no ocean view (the view was of the main street), and quite possibly the worst breakfast I've had in Thailand. Good location, clean, ok rooms but that's about it really.
