This is a large and comfortable hotel well situated near central Marsala. The rooms in the wing we stayed in have been repainted and refreshed and are now very nice and tidy. I especially liked being able to open the window to let in fresh air and some of the Marsala nightlife, but also to close it to seal out all the noise. The bathroom is big and functional and there is a pool. The internet works well. Overall, a good place to stay.
Very Friendly staff, parking in front of the hotel and located only 1km from the city centre. Room was large and clean and the breakfast OK. With the above summary I indicate the most important facts AND how I felt. Everything was OK but for sure it has no beautiful style or flair. Don't expect stylish appearance or modern decoration. Don't think of having a relaxing start into a nice holiday evening at the hotel bar or the pool (yes we went swimming but it felt weird an not inviting). Again, the rrom was clean an very large. we had a balcony but the view was ...interesting. The bathroom had no window and was spacious with a small shower only. The hotel is 25+ years old and you can tell. I stayed for one night and on my next business trip I'd come back if I get the same excellent room rate.
The hotel is quite far from the center and takes a long walk. We had a car and then it is okay. The parking is very convenient. There is a nice swimmingpool. The rooms are big, but need a bit of sprusing up. The hallways are boiling hot and dark.
If you are on vacation, do not book this hotel. it's fine for overnight if you are passing through but the neglect of the entire property is depressing. Picture the most run down Ramada hotel you have ever seen. It was built for business travelers sometime in the 80's and hasn't been touched or maintained since. The pool was decent if not well maintained. If you Are in a budget....maybe for one night. The latest cation is far from downtown Marsala. The entire staff seems over it.
The hotel is clean. Rooms are big. Swimming pool is ok to swim. The hotel has parking area, which is most important. But the staff for breakfast are very slowly, probably not satisfied with the job. Other wise i recommend the hotel if you want to be close to center and close to roads which goes to seeing sights.
POSITIVE: Nice hotel for have a base in west Sicily. Just 5 min. to city center. A lot of food shop near the hotel. Good Breakfast, and nice staff --------------------------- NEGATIVE: Miss the lifeguard in swimmingpool.
I spent 4 nights at this hotel, during the off-peak season in March. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the town and sea. This good location comes in handy when not wanting to use the car late at night. The hotel is also situated near a few essential shops (supermarket, pizzeria etc.), which is also very convenient. Although the pool was closed (due to the time of year), I very much enjoyed the hotel and recommend it to anyone wanting to visit Marsala anytime soon. Being able to get in the car and drive to amazing archeological sites is why this hotel should be highly recommended as it offers perfect opportunities to visit amazing Greek temples due to its prime location. The service could have been better as those unable to speak Italian found it challenging to communicate with the staff, Although there was this language barrier, the majority of them were helpful and cheerful. The rooms were a descent size for couples, being cleaned everyday was very nice and made the stay that much better. The breakfast could have been better as the buffet was the same everyday. Even though there wasn't variety in the options, the food was alright but not amazing and not what it said it would be on their website. In all, I recommend the hotel to those wishing to not lounge about in the hotel, but make the day and travel across the West coast of the island. The hotel is perfect for a short stay when not too many people are there. I can't really imagine more people there as it would get very crowded by the pool. If you're wishing to try something new and throw yourself into the 'real' Italian culture, then go for it, you have nothing to lose.
We had a large enough room, with a nice and clean bath. Near the hotel is basically no trafic. So nothing would disturb a good sleep, wich was pretty odd in our stay in Sicily. The hotel has an own parking lot, wich is also pretty odd in Sicily.
We have been travelling to Italy 2 or 3 times a year for many years and have never been treated this badly The Hotel rooms are big and spacious, the housekeeping staff really great. However the front of house staff were rude and very unfriendly. On arrival we were greeted by very grumpy reception staff, who gave the impression that we were a real nuisance asking for a drink from the bar. This attitude continues throughout our week stay. We tried to communicate using our limited Italian with NO help from the staff, personally if overseas visitors came to my country and made an effort to speak my language I would be very pleased, not the front of house staff at the President they couldn't be bother. The staff spent a great deal of time talking to each other or looking pretty and expressed no interest in their guests. The only exception to this were two gentleman on the reception on Sunday evening 18th May and Monday 19th May they at least were civil and tried to be helpful, however by this time we only spoke English as we had been rebuffed too often. EVEN THOUGH THE ROOM WAS COMFORTABLE AND CLEAN, IT COULD NOT MAKE UP FOR THE FACT THAT THE FRONT OF HOUSE STAFF MADE IT VERY CLEAR THAT EVERYTHING THEY WERE ASKED WAS FAR TOO MUCH TROUBLE AND THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY INTEREST IN MAKING OUR STAY WELCOMING.
This is a big soulless hotel on the periphery of the central area of Marsala, Sicily. Its rates are cheap and as we were driving needed easy parking. We were only staying for one night as a quick stop off on the way to the beautiful Erice so really only wanted a comfortable bed and hot shower. This hotel had both of them. But it was pretty much downhill from there. The decor suggests that it is original 1980's. The room and bathroom were spacious but very tired. We overlooked the pool which looked in a similarly worn state but we did not use it. The furniture in our room included two tables whose legs were on the verge of collapse. The air conditioner was actually not bad but all the common areas were oppressively hot and musty. The ground floor reception and common areas were huge but almost empty and soulless. You could see the 1980s design anticipated a sophisticated note of grandeur but its glory days are long past. When we were there, the reception had a small number of young Americans with crew cuts sitting and drinking all day. We suspected they were marines which gave the place a Graham Greene kind of feel to it; one of decaying intrigue. The worst of all was the breakfast. It was included in the price but really was an abomination. The musty breakfast area had huge round tables in it, none of which were set and all of which were covered in dirty tablecloths. It looked like the night after a reception prior to anyone cleaning up. It was also poorly lit which added to the general sense of gloom. That sense was an ideal introduction to the food. Again, they had various bits of fancy equipment but very little actual quality food. None of the cold food was chilled. So in a fancy metallic liquid holder with engraved words such as 'orange juice' stood bottles of water from the supermarket at room temperature. There were no juices. Little yoghurt containers were sitting loose in an unchilled bain-marie and nearing their use-by-dates. The bread was old. There was some attempt at hot food with an excuse for scrambled eggs but again not in any heating device. Coffee was some sort of machine. I went to try that and it was taking forever so I left the machine for a minute. At that very time, a waiter made one of very few appearances, and removed my cup from the machine and walked out. It was very much like Fawlty Towers. As we were only staying one night and as it was cheap and as we had a good night's sleep, we saw the humor in all of this, giggled, packed, paid our bill and fled for the delights of Erice. We do not recommend the hotel unless you want to only stay one night, want a good night's sleep on the cheap and have a good sense of humour.
