This was genuinely the best stay I have ever had. The room and facilities were great, the food was utterly amazing, and the staff were so welcoming and caring. I spent four nights here and I wish I could stay for longer. While it’s a bit expensive, it is worth every yen. The staff was so helpful and made sure every second I spent there was incredible. I really cannot recommend this place enough!

Staff were incredibly attentive and nice. Even with the language barrier they went above and beyond using Google Translate to explain the courses of our dinners and breakfasts, as well as information about the town. The hotel was slightly out of town (15mins walk) but they have a shuttle that was basically on demand. We wanted to go into town for the night and they dropped and picked us up at our desired time. The property is also tucked at the base of a mountain which made for a beautiful location. Overall a relaxing stay and a highlight of my 3 week trip around Japan.

An excellent, "easy" introduction to a traditional ryokan, with many accomodations for first timers like us. Family made a side trip from Kyoto for something different than the 3 big cities and this inn gave us a wonderful, different experience with excellent service and great food. The kimono and yukata rental was nice added flair, the room very comfortable (NB. no polarized outlets), and the dinner and breakfast fantastic. Even though translation apps had to be used frequently, the service was universally polite, attentive, and, most of all, friendly and helpful. We had a great time!

It was a nice experience staying at this property. The staff explained well as we arrived. There were no meals included during our stay. We asked if we can bring food into the room to eat. The answer was no, no food/meals can be brought in! The shuttle bus took us to the canal at 7pm. We found a place to eat dinner and then went to two very nice onsens recommended by the staff there! The shuttle bus came back to pick us up at 9pm. During our outing to the onsens in the evening, the futon beds were made up for us. The facility is clean, tasteful and well maintained! The onsen at this place is also nice! Thank you to the staff for this wonderful experience!

A Truly Enchanting Stay at Hotel Tenbouen

From the moment we arrived at Hotel Tenbouen, we were swept into a world of charm, warmth, and unmatched hospitality. Nestled in a serene setting, the hotel exudes a quiet elegance that immediately made us feel at ease. Every corner seemed thoughtfully designed, and the atmosphere was nothing short of magical. The staff were beyond accommodating; gracious, attentive, and genuinely kind. Each interaction felt personal and sincere, and their dedication to making our stay memorable was evident in every detail. We’ve traveled extensively throughout Japan last week and we can confidently say this was the most exceptional team we’ve encountered. The culinary experience was a highlight. Both breakfast and dinner were beautifully curated, with each dish a delightful journey for our tastebuds. The flavors were exquisite, the presentation artful, and the care that went into each meal was palpable. It felt like dining in a dream. Our private onsen reservation was handled with such precision and care that we truly felt like royalty. The tranquil setting, the seamless coordination, and the attention to detail made it an unforgettable experience. To all the staff at Hotel Tembouen—thank you. You turned our stay into something truly magical. My wife and I are already looking forward to returning and reliving the enchantment all over again.
