This is an historic older hotel with one of the most beautiful ocean views in the entire Devon region. Their front patio is wonderful to have a drink or light meal on and the English breakfast is quite good.. On the slightly down side, their mattress was too firm for us and the bathroom had a retrofitted bath/shower combination which was quite high off the floor (one needs to be quite careful not to slip in the shower or the fall could be dangerous).

Lovely hotel. Stayed for 2 nights. Lovely food breakfast & evening meal. The only gripe was the parking was quite tight. We had to leave the car parked & got taxis for the two nights we went out.

Perfect stay

Lovely welcome from reception and very helpful with information. Breakfast and evening meal at the hotel was excellent room at the back of the hotel was generally quiet apart from the creaky floorboards above us. Ideal spot for exploring the coastal paths and walking into the marina will definitely return.

Amazing place but be wary of any planned functions

This hotel was amazing - room was beautiful and paid to have a sea view which was incredible. Breakfast was lovely. The only downside for us was Day 3 when there was a wedding at the hotel. Our room was over the function room so could hear the music and the guests kept us awake standing outside under our room windows drinking. We couldn’t sleep until everyone had departed. The hotel did refund us some money but it dampened the whole experience for us. Would go back but not if there was a wedding on!

Lovely hotel in a beautiful setting

Although the food in the dining room was very good better on some days than others (breakfast and dinner) some of the staff were more helpful and pleasant than others it was very strange to have different waiters every day there was no building of any rapore which you usually have in a hotel

Maybe good for British standards, but this is a one star hotel in the rest of Europe. The hotel is really old, no ac, a lot of noice from the corridor, poor cleaning hair in the shower and a forgotten pair of troussares. People seems to leave food everywhere in the corridor.

Great Views and Nice Room

Really lovely hotel with great views. Breakfast a real treat. Rooms are a very generous size and a sea view is beautiful. Don’t like the policy of authorising £150 on your bank card on check in. Not released for 5 to 10 days is not acceptable.

Beautiful hotel stay with some recommendations

It was a lovely stay with mostly positive feedback. The pool was fantastic. We had an amazing time relaxing and swimming. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The family room was spacious, clean and comfortable. It was really hot in the rooms but a 2nd fan was given and all was sorted. I have two complaints, which o think are really important which is why I’m mentioning them. Firstly the 150£ deposit should be made clear before booking, and is quite excessive. I only brought along a small amount of spending money so thank goodness I was able to put it on my credit card - however if I never had a credit card what would I have done?? I travel for work and have never had to put in such a large deposit. Secondly the hotel menu was very expensive for very standard food :( For the prices you charge food should be far above average. Luckily the little cafe on the beach did some dinners and we were able to eat there partly All in all this is a fantastic hotel and I would love to come back but really hope you consider your customers recommendation to make an even more amazing hotel 😊 Thanks for having us

One good room one bad

The first night was awful. Wee were given a room which was over the kitchen and had the most awful humming noise all night long - we could not sleep. The obsosly have had complaints about this room in the past but seem to ignore them and continue to to put guests in there. After several complaints and phone calls while on our day trip out we finally got them to move us to an alternative room which was 100% better. Shame we could not have had this from the start. The problem with the room was compounded with the poor service in the restaurant on the evening. Both meals had important elements missing form them and when this was pointed out it was rectified, but not in a nice way. No onion rings and the no avocado in an chicken and avocado salad! After we finished we were left sitting at the table. nobody asked is about desert or coffee, in the end we had to get up and leave to get anybody attention. We booked this hotel for a very special birthday treat and spent more because it was rated 4 star, even though it is in a lovely position and the hotel is nice, it was not the experience we had hoped for and left feeling very disappointed.
