We stayed in this hotel for 6 days while attending a language course at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena. The hotel is conveniently situated for the university - less than 5 minutes walk and also for a high class shopping arcade and the city centre. Both railway stations are a taxi-ride away if carrying heavy luggage. The hotel itself is modern and has a novel design. The hotel reception area is relatively small with lifts and stairs to what is described as the lobby. This area is divided into a number of distinct areas - a large bar with good seating, an open area which is probably used for various types of reception, the breakfast room and a dining room. The lifts to the bedroom floors are located in a central position and are glass sided. The bedrooms themselves are located off a walkway surrounding this interior space, so as one looks up from the lobby one sees the rows of bedroom doors forming a partial arc round the inner space. A bit difficult to describe, but the result is a very open and airy space. The bedrooms are as one would expect in a modern hotel. Well appointed and comfortable. Breakfast was the usual fare - but better organised than in some hotels with a central island and two side areas. The serving staff were attentive, refreshing both food and tables regularly and serving hot drinks. We ate a couple of times in the bar in an evening. A relatively small menu and international style (e.g. club sandwiches) rather than being specifically German. Although we were staying in the hotel a a couple, we were part of a much larger group, most of whom appeared impressed with the hotel and its facilities.
A professional 4* Hotel offering everything that can be expected. The Location is perfect. The Architecture is interesting, our room had a nice view. Not much staff around but we never had to wait long and everyone was nice
The hotel is well located right in the center of city. It is good place to stay, especially if you are looking for something to do in the evening and / or. Want to explore the city. Although we just stayed just one night I think you can easily stay longer.
It was overall a good experience except that the AC needs to be upgreaded or fixed in order to also work during summer! Great staff and service! Excellent and convenient location as it is only a 5 minute walk from the Jena West train station. Food is good and the bar is reasonably well-stocked!
What is great: The location, 5 minutes walking to the old town; the breakfast buffet (you can also order fresh eggs any style) including real hot water for tea, fresh orange juice and delicious local cheese and sausages; the very friendly stuff; breakfast is available from 6.30-10.30 am - awesome! What is average: The drinks provided from the barkeeper; the room size What is terrible: quality of mattresses which leads to back pain in the morning; the double bed in reality are two single beds, moving very easy; the shower is varying water temperature from 35 to close to 45 degree celsius; rooms located to street side - there is a small park very close to the hotel peopled by antisocial habitants in the nights - drinking beer and singing at 1,2,3am in the morning - we woke up 2-3 times each night; some travel groups carried by busses to the hotel - we experienced 2 huge busses at one night and 3 busses at the other night of your stay. Conclusion: It's hard to find relaxing sleep due, specially for couples....the mattresses were the worst ones we experienced in any hotel on this planet. The great stuff and breakfast can't compensate theses shortcomings.
Modern, sharp and a fantastic location. This is my preferred hotel after five visits to Jena. It is steps away from the trolley, shopping and Museums. The fun continues just outside with local crafts and food. The hotel is about a five to ten minute walk from the train station.
Great staff, hearty breakfast buffet, great service staff in the restaurant and hotel. They'll cater to all your needs, and answer your questions. Parking is a little tight in the garage, so bring a small car!
This is a solid business hotel. I would not come here necessarily for a romantic holiday, but it is comfortable, reasonably priced, and centrally located. The staff is quite helpful. The only oddity is that the reception is on the ground floor and the lobby (and lobby bar) is on the third floor. You take an elevator from the reception to the lobby, where you change to another elevator for room access. The 3rd floor lobby has a nice bar area. It also has a separate smoking lounge where people would enjoy cigars. Don't worry if you don't smoke. It is segregated in such a way that you don't get a whiff of the smoke. The facilities seem relatively new and its quite good. If you are there on an invitation from the University, you can get the University price which is exceptionally good.
My husband and I stayed 3 nights in the hotel and I have to say price wise is OK despite breakfast was not included. The location is perfect, right in the city center and next to Goethe gallery and shopping area. Jenna is a small city but I heard this is the best hotel to stay in town. Out room was clean, spacious and comfortable. WiFi connection is very good as well.
Overall poor value for money. Staff were unhelpful, rude in some cases. Food was very poor quality, to the point we did not pay for one meal. Car parking charges as a guest were excessive Rooms too hot!
