Comfort Hotel Weimar3.0 out of 5.0

The intent of the East German State was to create the "New Socialist Man", in good part by moving everyone they could out of the city center and into pre-fab (Plattenbau) apartment complexes on the outskirts of town. This hotel is a conversion of one of those pre-fabs. Having been in the original thing quite often, I'm impressed with what they accomplished - this is a serviceable place to sleep, and there is a big grocery store nearby. But it is too far from Weimar to serve as a base for a visit. We found a much better alternative for the next two days at a B&B (Gaestezimmer Sachs) on the south side of town, an easy and pleasant walk to the certer.
Affordable family hotel in the quiet outskirts of Weimar. Ideal hotel for a stop over or to visit Weimar itself. Easy acces to the public transport to the city center of Weimar. Friendly staff, no restaurant but a quality snack with regional ingredients was welcomed after a days drive. Good breakfast buffet with regional products and staff attending if necessary. toThe rooms are spacious and clean. Unfortunately no air conditioning on a +30°C day. Free parking across the street. Shopping center and petrol station nearby. All in all a recommandabel hotel at a very fair price.
Do not expect anything fancy from this hotel. It is a comfortable place for a good nights sleep and there is ample free parking close to the hotel. Some of the rooms have been recently renovated and therefore instead of old carpet you get wooden floor. Breakfast can get quite crazy on Sunday mornings as almost everyone is checking out. The staff at breakfast were so friendly and warm. I would recommend this place for a short stay in Weimar.
Required a hotel in the area, this is easily found off the autobahn despite being a few kms off it, quiet hotel, good parking, efficient friendly staff, clean room, sound wifi and a free bottle of champagne to boot. Would use again.
Our family of four stayed here for four nights to visit my friend who lives in walking distance. That was the reason I chose this hotel. We had a quadruple room which was actually two bedrooms with a connecting door. Our bedroom had a queen and a twin bed in it, the next room a twin bed and a rollaway bed for our second child. So basically, five people could have slept in the two rooms. First impression: Very spartanic furniture. Nothing fancy, But I can live with that although I have stayed in much less expensive hotels in city centers that were better furnished. What I did not like: dirty, worn carpet. It actually looked like it had not been deep cleaned for ten years. I never walked without socks and told my kids not to do that either. Our bathroom was modern and almost clean although I found a few long hairs in the bathtub and the towels, as well as dust on the light bulbs. The bathroom of our kids was horrible! Like out of the seventies, totally neglected, old shower curtain, worn tiles, worn toilet, and not very clean. I was close to being disgusted. I actually did not leave a tip on the bed which I usually do when we stay in a very clean room. Sorry. The maid might not be able to do something about the old carpet and old bathroom but for sure she can keep the rooms meticulously clean. The only time I asked the front desk lady something, which was if they "although I knew it was highly unlikely by chance had a fitness room", she scoffed and said fairly rudly No. Oh my. If I was the manager and had overheard that, she would have gotten an earful from me. If you don't want to be too friendly, fine, I can live with that. But almost laughing about your guest's question? Unbelievable customer service, she does not belong in a hotel. I wish I had gotten her name. Now, on the contrary, the ladies at the breakfast service were extremely friendly! They went out of their way to help and attend us. They made up for most of the negative experiences at this hotel. A huge compliment and a big THANK YOU!! There were some bad comments about the buffet in other reviews but we actually thought it was fairly good. Would we stay here again? Probably yes, out of convenience of being so close to my friend, but surely not for the room.
Booked at the very last minute, we arrived 10 minutes after booking online. Our previously booked hotel was closed!! WE were greeted by a great lady, very bubbly and extremely helpful. Everything about the hotel was more than acceptable. Only downside is the rooms are a little dated.
We stayed here for one night, quiet large room at back of hotel. A good half hour walk to the town which is well worth a visit. Thought breakfast could have been a bit better. Could do with a repaint inside.
We didn't want to pay much as we just needed the bed. The hotel was clean, rooms were ok and the breakfast was very good. It is not really in the center of Weimar. Would be around 2,5 k to walk there. Would choose this again. We were not able to find a restaurant for dinner near the hotel, the hotel doesn't have one. You would have to go into town for dinner.
This is an older, pretty basic hotel, but for the price it is an exceptional value. The room was a little worn looking, but very clean and everything worked well, including the Internet. The bed slept great. There were no hot items on the breakfast buffet, but it was still very good and was included in the very low room rate. It included cold meats, eggs, cheeses, fruits, and breads which was all surprisingly good and satisfying. I've never stayed at an American hotel which offers nearly as much for a similar price.
We arrived here at appx 6pm and received a helpful and friendly welcome from the receptionist. Our room at the back of the hotel on the 2nd floor had a balcony overlooking a tennnis court and the remainder of the business trading estate. The hotel and room was dated and in dire need of a refurb. Our bedroom was quite small and with awful cold lighting. There was only one bedside table and there was no hairdryer in the room - yet it had a mini bar.. The shower was good and everything was clean as you would expect from a German establishment. UK hoteliers please note!!! Outside standing on the balcony there were large cracks in the outer walls which didn't make make me feel particularly good about standing there!! I had visions of us falling off the building balcony and all. The beds were confortable but could have done with some extra pillows. Breakfast the following morning was a bit of hit and miss, the place was packed with people all standing in line to make a cup of coffee it would have been easier if the waitress had brought us the coffee/tea to our table instead of having to go back and forth to the coffee making machine. Breakfast was no different to any other continental hotel/b&b with a selection of rolls, yoghurts, cheeses, meats, cakes etc.. This venue is good value for money as far as price is concerned and it's in a great position for people wanting to visit Buchenwald - which most of the people there where there to do just that
