Arrived early but shown straight to our lovely room. Feature beams made in very quirky. Spacious and spotless, bed was comfy and the bed linen was good quality. No hair dryer in the room, but asked at reception and one was available. Staff were friendly and efficient, we ate dinner here on the terrace outside, to be honest this town has lots of great looking places to eat, but the hotel terrace was nice and quiet, little sun trap in the evening. Sleep was quiet and breakfast was very good, all you could need and efficient breakfast staff. Great hotel in a very good location with ample parking to the rear, pretty town to explore.
Perfectly located with a couple of terraces and restaurants in the same street. The hotel is old and quirky and could do with a lick of paint but it's charming and our room (21) was actually a suite with a serre overlooking the garden. There is a terrace on the street and the garden in charming. The problem was with the attitude of the staff (apart from one who was a stagaire). We wanted to sit in the garden with a nightcap to be told very sharply by a waitress that the 'terrace was closed' (in other words she didn't want to serve us). It would have been nicer had she pointed out the terrace in the front of the hotel. When I went to the bar to order and took the drinks back there didn't seem to be a problem. The same waitress checked us in and again was short and sharp (as was another person who checked us out) - what happened to the supposed Limburg's friendliness? The bed was good but the pillows were a bit like sleeping on a balloon. The bathroom was large and clean. Pity, because the hotel itself was worth it.
La Ville Blanche is in a pretty little town, officially once a Sovereign Principality of the Holy German Empire and styled a Medieval City. The town is very small and La Ville Blanche is one of only a few hotels. The white-fronted facade is quite pretty and there are pleasant patios both in the garden and on the street. The hotel itself is rather shabby and the furniture scuffed; carpets are worn down. Rception was very friendly and staff are helpful if you can find them; clearly understaffed. The surroundings of Thorn are quite pretty and the hotel rents new and very comfortable bicycles. Our room was on the second floor. All was drab and scruffy with stained carpet. Cleanliness left something to be desired. The bathroom and a walk-in closet were roomy. Bed was very comfortable. But throughout the night there was a light motor zoom from the attic, perhaps the hotel ventilation. Breakfast was acceptable but nothing really great. The price of everything was reasonable.
The hotel rooms are old and shaby and overal not very clean. Breakfast poor, with horible orange juice. Staff is friendly if you can find them because there is hardly any staff around. Would not recommend to go.
We visited this hotel in late summer, Group of nine people with children. The hotel is fine, big clean rooms. Free Wi-Fi and parking, just in the center of town but quiet. Kind and helpful english speaking staff.
We have visited this hotel 3 times in past 3 years-always in March. We find this to be a nice little hotel. The bathroom in our room could use some updating. There is an elevator which is good. because the steps are narrow. We enjoy going to their restaurant. The breakfast is ample. Plenty of parking is available.
I left a review praising this lovely little hotel a coupe of years ago, but mentioning the food wasn't the greatest. I'd like to update the info to say we have just come back from a New Year's eve break (a very well priced package) and the food was greatly improved. I asked why there was such a difference, the hotel has a new manager and I think, reading between the lines, the budget for the food was increased. Either way, not only did they not cut corners when it came to ingredients, but when surprised by a last minute request by me for a veggie option, they rose to the challenge and whisked up a good alternative to the prime beef my husband got. We have been coming here for four years and while I understand what other reviewers are saying concerning refurbishment, for us the fact that the rooms are spotless and comfortable, the staff welcoming and the environment great for hiking, matters more than the walls not being a pristine white. Each to their own, this isn't a Hilton - instead it is a well-priced place you can chill out and be sure that you are well looked after. I'm with the reviewer el_lodder on this one.
Okay, the hotel is not up to date where it concerns maintenance in the rooms etc. But who cares? The room was clean and spacious and its view was beautiful! The hotel itself is a lovely old building on a wonderful spot in Thorn, the white village. The atmosphere in Thorn and in the hotel is for us the reason to have enjoyed ourselves there. The staff is very friendly and takes care of every wish.
About fifteen years ago this hotel already was in an urgent need of renovation. There should have been done a lot more than the sparingly use of a paintbrush. The bathroom is really not of this time anymore. The only innovation that I encountered was a relatively small flat screen TV. The staff however were friendly and the breakfast made te stay somewhat acceptable. For those who accept rooms below an acceptable level this might be a nice hotel
Two nights spent here as a base for some business meetings. A quaint but dated hotel. It has character, but sadly in need of a refurb. The staff were helpful and restaurant served good hot food. If you need to be in this area, it's a good hotel to choose.
