It started with them losing my reservation. Looks like Orbitz communicates with the hotel's office in Kochi and desk staff at Trivandrum was clueless.Hotel Management 101 to keep track of reservations. But they did give me a room, as it felt like I was the only guest anyway. The room was clean and comfortable. Eventually they did locate my reservation. Some of the staff was courteous. The location, close to the main temple, is great. The hotel restaurant/bar is seedy. But this could be a problem with hotels in Kerala in general and related to alcohol prohibition attracting the wrong people to bars at hotels. Things might improve if the bar is closed and a good vegetarian restaurant is put in its place. The food is mediocre right now. My biggest annoyance was the US$40 it cost me to have 10 items of clothing washed. Although the charges were disclosed in advance, I had little choice at that point as I needed clothes for a business trip. Surely there is a better way to do this?
