I was looking forward to going here. Get out of town, relax close to the sea. Actually, location is the one redeeming quality of this hotel. For half the price, this rundown, noisy hotel with overpriced food would be a good deal. But as it stands, I recommend any other Kijkduin or Scheveningen hotel over this.
Located on the beach in the small city of Ter Heijde near Monster in the Netherlands, this modern hotel disappointed me. The room was run down and not clean. Besides for soap and towels, there was nothing else to make your stay comfortable. The food at the restaurant was limited in choice and really not good, neither at breakfast nor at lunch. Parking in the street is free but limited in quantity. Front desk staff was friendly but not at the restaurant.
The location of this hotel is very nice and the rooms are ok, but the quality of the food is very poor. They serve typical Dutch food from the 90's, full of sugar. No fresh fruit or veggies to be found.
Nicely placed out of stressful city centers, dogs allowed & kids welcome (both for extra fee though). Beach is just 100 meters away and is also much quieter touristic areas up north. Breakfast very good and if you choose not to eat in the hotel restaurant, there's a pizza just 10minutes walking distance. Room was clean but smaller than expected, pricing also a bit higher but still better than places in The Hague. We'll be happy to come again.
The hotel and the restaurant are both decent, nothing to fancy but you get what you expect. The rooms are basic but clean and not small. The beach with its sand dunes and small beach clubs is very close so that is nice.
First of all I dont understand why such nice hotels can be dismanaged - the Owner should take More care and e.g. stay in the hotels from time to time. The location is great, Service is good, food nice although not extraordinary. Of course hotel needs referbishment but it is common problem of Dutch hotels due to the fact that they were opened many years ago - and no investment have been done in a mean time. Problems started when I wanted to fall to sleep. Hotel is very noisy so You can hear what is going on in other rooms. As my room was located over restaurant I could hear roumor from cleaning. The worst thing what mechanical noise like from damaged fan. Finally I couldn't sleep almost whole night. If they take more care for the hotel it can be great place.
Last year we stayed at this hotel and were so impressed by the staff..decided to come back again. Well, they must have all left and THAT was the ONLY reason for us being there! Booked 4 nights through Expedia, which is much cheaper than the hotel directly. We were here for a funeral and decided on our arrival to add another night to make things easier. Was told by the reception that if I booked that night through Expedia I would keep the same room, so I did. Only to be told the next day that I would be moved to another room or had to pay €25 extra to stay in our room. To avoid more stress (that was the day of the funeral) we paid. Lady (manager?) behind the counter was a very unfriendly person in a polite way. There was nothing personal about this stay with the staff, while last year we felt so welcome. Rooms are still dark, showers still leak, duvets are still too narrow...so obviously feedback doesn't change anything. Breakfast is still nice and the highlight of our stay, but we were not allowed to sit by the window with the view! Girl who served in the breakfast room handled EVERYTHING with bare hands...guests have to use tongs but she had every slice of cheese on her bare hand. Loaves of bread did not have napkins on them when you sliced them so guests used their hands to hold the loaves. I asked the girl for a linen napkin and only then did she do it, next day...no napkins! Last year they served decaf coffee..?This time 'no go'. No facecloths, hair conditioner or lotion in the bathrooms, bring them along! Beds are comfortable and we had room 225 which comes with a huge terrace. Overflowing ashtray was on the lounger all week, from the last guests and never cleaned up. We will not stay here again EVER! And if you look at my other hotel reviews I never complain.
My wife and I stayed 2 nights in this modern hotel in Februari. We stayed here because we were using it as a base for visiting Scheveningen and The Hague. (E-)Bikes can be rented and a nice cycling road (partly thru the dunes) to Scheveningen is possible (approx. 13km). One minor point is that for a 4-star hotel a little bit of renovation may be needed (in our room the wallpainting got off). Rooms are large and have good beds, some rooms have bathtubs. Breakfast is complete (eggs, bacon, etc..) and can be taken outside on good weather. We had dinner (3 courses) in the restaurant. They do not have very much choice on the menu (few entries/main dishes/desserts), but what we had was tasteful. The staff is friendly and helpful. While the hotel is a little isolated, I can recommend staying in this for people who like to be close the beach (perfect with kids during summer time).
I have stayed at this hotel multiple times. Personal is very polite and helpful. Rooms are big. Breakfast is really nice and the food variety is good but i do not know if they serve the same breakfast everyday or change it. Restaurant is also very nice but we have eaten in other restaurants in the surrounding areas which were better in taste and slightly less expensive. This hotel is pretty isolated but the best thing is it is only 20-30m away from the sea. I have stayed on the second floor but from room i could not view the sea. Beach is pretty big and sandy. There is no swimming pool and no activity inside the hotel for children. Wifi and parking is available and is normally included in the room price. Sitting loung is pretty small but is very nice.
Great experience, close to the beach, quiet, excellent to relax and unwind from the daily grind. The location is great because it is close to the city, but far enough away to disconnect. We hope to return soon...
