Or perhaps you’d like to feel like Gulliver in Lilliput for the time of a weekend? The Little House on Gumstool Hill is as cosy as it gets.

Sitting on the popular Gumstool Hill in the heart of the Cotswolds, The Folly (the cottage) is only a stone’s throw away from the centre of Tetbury. There are lovely walks just outside the cottage along the small river, and all the services are extremely close.

THE SPACE

The cottage features lovely Cotswold stone and roof tiles. It is very small, but comfortable and some parts of it are newly refurbished. A paddle space saver staircase leads to the upstairs bedroom. It comprises of a king size bed, a high pile rug (snug for your toes) and two bedside tables (nothing else will fit!).

You can have your breakfast, second breakfast, elevenses, luncheon, afternoon tea, dinner and supper in the kitchenette. Or alternatively you can nip into the local bakery and iconic pubs only a tiny stroll away.
The kitchenette has two portable electric hobs, a microwave oven, a kettle, a toaster, a small fridge and all the necessary kitchenware and cutlery.

WARNING: The space saving paddle staircase is very steep. The cottage is not suited to people with mobility issues.

I will not be present in person, but I will be available 24/7 throughout your stay by phone and through HomeAway messages should you have any questions or concerns.

THE LOCATION

Tetbury has won numerous awards, earning the accolade "Heart of England in Bloom" and "Best Small Town." It was founded as an ancient hill fort, and on the same site was later built a Saxon monastery in 681, most likely by Ine of Wessex.
Today, Tetbury is known as a small hidden gem of an English town, praised for its charming cottages and ivy-clad buildings and cottages, abundance of flowers and greenery, history, wool, antique shops, and historic buildings.
Being in the Cotswolds, a number of lovely and popular walks are available to you, as well as the myriad of cute and iconic villages.

GETTING AROUND

Gumstool Hill is a cul-de-sac just off the centre of Tetbury. There are lovely walks just behind the cottage along the small river and tree lined paths.
There is off-street parking just in front of the cottage. The driveway is small (like everything about The Folly), but your car will fit. If you happen to have a rather large van or a mobile home, there is parking available on the street without restrictions.
The cottage features a kitchen and space to spread out with a separate bedroom. Guests can expect to find free WiFi. Other standard amenities include an electric kettle, an ironing board, and a desk.

The check in and communication with the host was easy and friendly. Although a little smal, it was expected as the host clearly stated it was small. The stairs are steep and we've loved the steps. Location is amazing near a park in a deadend and the neibourgh we encountered were really nice, as we were with them. Overall 5 stars as the place was clean, tidy and communication with the host was efficient and near real time.

Absolutely the cutest tiny home ever on a historic street surrounded by beauty. Thoroughly enjoyed the magic of this place!The only drawback was the amount of mould growing in kind of every nook and and cranny. Staying in the warm summer months this wasn't a huge deal as I could leave the windows open but there was a lot.The tiny-ness of this cottage was perfect for one person and having a homebase for exploring Tetbury and the surrounding areas was lovely. The paddle staircase was a bit daunting at first but ended up being a breeze! Listening to the roosting crows as I went to sleep and waking up to the wood pigeons in the morning cooing was a definite highlight.Check-in was clear and communication with the owner was fast and easy. Really appreciated that!

Walking to Tetbury shops

Loved this little place! It’s walking distance to all the shops. You really have to be okay climbing a latdder up to bed. My husband and I thought it was cute and part of the experience. The bathroom is downstairs, so if you frequent the bathroom multiple times at night the ladder could get tricky.

Perfect location

Think this was the cutest place ive ever stayed, very quaint and well planned for such a small space. My daughter lives in Tetbury so the location was perfect plus its a stones throw from the town centre. Bed was comfortably and everything you need was provided. Be aware of the staircase as its very steep and would say could be slippy with socks on as wooden but wasnt a problem unless perhaps you have mobility issues. There is no tv if that bothers you but i didnt miss it.

Dissapointing

Although the property description is fairly accurate, this property is not suitable if 1) If you have larger luggage as there is no where to store them. 2) If you have had a big day out and just want to go back to your accommodation to relax, the sofa is old, lumpy and uncomfortable and desperately needs replacing 3)The bathroom desperately needs attention. The towels were super small and had a musty smell. 4)Kitchen crockery needed a clean 5) The shelf next to sofa was very unstable. Overall this propert is not worth the money. We booked for 4 nights and chose to leave after 3 nights and forfeit our last night night because we were so miserable

Perfect overnight stop

Stayed one night en route Yorkshire - Devon. Everything we needed, nice place to wander in the evening. Heard 17 birds on ‘Merlin’ on the 10/15 minute walk morning dog in the woods just before we left.

We arrived quite late ,and there was no outside light to locate the keysafe and put in the code, which prived to be difficult in the dark.The bathroom didn't seem very clean ,the sink looked like it had just been used. The sheets and pillow cases didn't seem freshly launderedThought in the light of thus it was overpriced.

Ideally located for Tetbury and perfect for a short break.

My husband and I enjoyed an overnight stay at this small but comfortable cottage with our dog. It was ideally situated, a short walk into Tetbury and very close to countryside walks. We had everything we needed and would recommend.

It’s in a great location and good for a short break. This is our second visit to this property so obviously we were happy to return. Some attention is now needed to maintain good reviews. The sofa and kettle definitely need replacing. The host appears keen to please so I’m sure this will be addressed.

Smart little place

Great location right in town. Bottom of a short steep hill with beautiful buildings. House really is tiny but worked well for my wife and I who are not very big. The shower stall is tiny but still manageable. We enjoyed the cute little place. Very unique and location is great.

Lovely little house.

The house is so small, but lovely. It's perfect if for most of the day you want to go exploring. It's in the centre of Tetbury and near to so many towns and villages in the area. Tetbury is nice with a few great puns close by.

The property is what it says - central location and small. Steep staircase to bedroom. Lounge/kitchen is very compact with bi folding doors to loo. Perfect for a 1 night stay. We went to Highgrove. Had a coffee when we got in, ate out, slept well and left after breakfast.

Parking is a problem, only a very small car can be parked at the property, double yellow lines have been added while we were there further limiting parking. Not suitable for elderly people very acute paddle stairs making it dangerous. Several places with black mould on the walls, insufficient hot water for a shower, heating turned off too early in the year
