We have staid at least 3 times at the Mencey - it is a fabulous Hotel in a lovely town - lots to do and see, (no karaoke - head to the south of the island if you want nightclubs!} - Last time we stayed they were filming "Bourne" and Matt Damon was in the hotel bar and Julia Styles in the pool every day! The hotel is classy elegant and a great place to stay - only 5 minutes stroll through a beautiful park and you are in the town centre with shops cafés and of course the "Opera house" auditorium - well worth a visit & lunch facing the sea.

What a lovely place to stay for a relaxing break! Lovely welcome when we arrived and the staff were so friendly and courteous. We stayed in a junior suite, and well worth the little bit more it costs, which overlooked the courtyard. The room was extremely comfortable with plenty of room. We also had taken the half board option, and although you are never quite sure whether this is the right thing to do, it certainly was here! The food was wonderful and breakfast exceptional - what a selection! The pool, spa and gum complex superb. We have stayed at many hotels all over the world over the years and I have to say, this is probably the best we have ever stayed at - it's that good! Looking forward to staying again!

We had a fantastic stay at the iberostar hotel. We booked this hotel for a long weekend break as a girls weeekend and had no expectations of the hotel or area, but the facilities, service and location was fantastic! A special thank you to Joel on reception and Anders(front off house). The other reviews are correct- it was the best breakfast selection I've ever had! And it didn't stop there; we have never been so full on half board! I would recommend this hotel and the area for a short break, it has some very industrial areas, but also beautiful gardens, lovely people and great food! Thanks Iberostar for a fab stay!

We booked this trip and travelled with friends from America. We arrived very late evening at 10.45pm. The staff were very friendly and excellent - all men! We received a welcome champagne drink on arrival as part of our deal. We were also offered the choice of smell for the fragrance sticks for our room. These were amazing the smell and lasted our whole stay!! I wished I had asked for some to take home!! The room was well appointed. We were very impressed with our suite! All white and very luxurious with a contemporary feel. One strange thing was the position of the TV. It did not face the bed or the seating area and could not be turned on its stand or swivelled...very strange. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The buffet breakfast was AMAZING!! The variety and choice was outstanding!! For a buffet breakfast's was of an excellent standard. We did have an issue with the food at the restaurant. I had to send my steak back TWICE because it was not cooked well done....the first was rare and the second one was still alive.... there was so much blood. So I changed to an entirely different option for the 3rd time. Although this was not nice the staff were good and we made light of it as we were travelling with friends and did not want to ruin our break. We had better meals in the Italian restaurant Papa Negro. Much better quality, standard and variety. Much better views and lovely ambience in this restaurant. One small thing that not all staff speak English well. As such our waiter got our drinks order wrong and we asked another waiter to change for us. You could tell he was embarrassed at what his co-worker had brought us. Again we made light of it and did not want to make him feel bad. The hotel has several restaurants and rotates a different one each day. Although this was great given our experience on our first night, this was not explained to us when we arrived so we wandered around wondering why the first restaurant we went to was not open! The hotel should really aim to have the standard of food like Papa Negro restaurant. If it did I would say the food would've been excellent. Unfortunately it was below par on the first night. Also we found every night the dessert options were rather poor in quality and choice in all restaurants. So I would give an average score for the food...which is a shame for a 5 star hotel. The pool and the spa are excellent and so it the gym....although we never used it. Would recommend the hydro circuit and a massage....wonderful. A couple of things lets it down....people are able to smoke around the pool and sun-loungers. This is very uncomfortable and irritating if you are a non smoker! There should be a dedicated space to smoke and not to ruin for everyone else. The same applies too for eating outside. (people were not allowed to smoke inside the building). Finally, I purchased some jewellery in the hotel gift shop. In less than 5 days the stone fell out. I contacted the shop to send a replacement or provide a refund. The shop owner was rude and unprofessional. I complained to the hotel and they helped to sort the problem and I received a refund. Beware of the quality of the products you purchase in the hotel shop Liberty. You may have problems after if there is an issue. Other than that we had a lovely time and made the best of it. We had amazing weather the whole time we were there. I think it would be better if it was an adult only hotel. Fortunately for us there were not too many families there when we were. But I could see the potential for irritation as some parents let their kids run riot without concern for others. So if you don't like kids book to go when kids are still at school. One last thing...there is a local shop outside the hotel where you can purchase 5 gallons of water for a few euros. This is important as if it's hot you need to drink a lot and it is very expensive to buy water from the hotel.

Hotel is spacious and comfortable. Rooms are large and well stocked with personal care items. Wifi connection good. No tea or coffee facilities in the room but room service is efficient. Large pool, gym and spa (adults only). It is a 15 min walk into town but there is a beautiful park opposite and restaurants and cafe's nearby. Didn't eat in restaurant but had a bar meal which was ok. A downside is that the hotel caters for large parties and weddings and there is nightly entertainment so can be noisy.

When we arrived we had to report the air conditioning and the Safe not working. We eventually had the vents cleaned out with and batteries put into the safe to solve these problems. After than we settled in to enjoy the hotel. We used the pool every day and always got a sunbed and sunshade when needed. The pool attendant was friendly and helpful. We only ate lunch in the hotel on one occasion it was enjoyable and good quality although more expensive that restaurants close to the hotel. We used the ATM in the hotel and found the exchange rate very very poor and would not use again Unfortunately the free wi-fi is not secure and my computer was hacked during our visit which caused me weeks of trouble with my business. I do not recommend using the wi-fi until the hotel protects it. We hope to return to the hotel again in the future and will recommend.

Although staff at the reception was not always very service-minded, the room with a view over the garden was great. Keep in mind that there can be noisy events in the garden though. The gym is great, with free fitness classes for hotel guests. Also had a sport massage with Jenny at the spa, which I can highly recommend! Pool area was calm and relaxing, perfect after work!

We arrive after 11pm for a one night stay... our flight coming in was very late. We arrived and the staff at the desk were wonderful... we were hungry... they suggested we leave our bags and go directly to the bar where we would still be able to order food. It was a beautiful setting outside. The grounds here is the attraction. Just what we needed. We headed to our room absolutely exhausted... The key cards we had been given did not work... had to go back down to reception... we were not happy about it.. When we entered the room it appeared clean and large... then I went into the bathroom... the smell of mildew or mold was overpowering. If we had not been so tired or if we had been staying more than one night I would have immediately gone down and asked for another room. I would not recommend this property... If you do go here be sure to inspect the room and bathroom... change rooms if there is a problem...

This was my second visit and the hotel is fabulous. Great location with good transport links to local areas. Beautiful hotel and grounds which are immaculate and very well maintained. Good attention to customer service. One area for improvement is that I tried to order room service the night we arrived however the person taking the call was unable to understand English and therefore I could not place my order. I completely accept that I was not in England however, the menu was in English and I assumed they would therefore be able to understand me.

well, what can i say , i think is one of the best hotel in the island and absolutely excellent quality-price rating. i stay here few times last here for business and is always perfect.Room service is perfect, prices are perfect, room and suites are amazing, all the employers are absolutely top professionals!
