Booked 1 month prior to visit. No sea view rooms available but hotel recommended that we wait until arrival. On arrival still no sea view rooms available. A story we heard from many guests. Mountain view room was small with inadequate storage. Dark and too cold to use the terrace. There was a charge to use the safe in the room! Dining is buffet style with a large variety of food and also chefs were available to cook selected dishes. Very busy and noisy in the restaurant and if you wanted 'chef cooked food' there was invariably a delay. Not a pleasant dining experience and if you arrived after 19:00hrs it was necessary to wait for a table. Tables too close together with constant traffic. The 'a la carte' section of the dining room provided table service and was a welcome break from the 'self service' area although it entailed a supplement of Euros 7.5 each. This was a new development but they didn't change the menu in the three weeks we were there and the food was usually tepid. It was generally too cold to eat on the outside patio although they were expanding this area so it might be of more use in the summer months. Outside areas of the hotel were well maintained and repair work on the sun deck around the pool area was taking place during our stay. The Animation team provided a full programme of events during the day except Sunday. Pool was well maintained and there was easy access to the promenade. Overall, our abiding memory was of the excellent staff in this hotel that is over 50 year old and has been upgraded recently. Some minor poor work in places in the room and overall a 'cool to cold' atmosphere.

My husband and I went for 10days it is a really nice hotel located in a great position. We had a sea view room which was great. My only disappointment was it only had a shower and no bath. Other than that it was good and the cleaners were great and also friendly. The Hotel is kept very clean and has a wonderful aroma. We were half board but I have to say I never had one hot meal. Most things were warm or even cold. There is plenty of choice along with a counter that will cook you food if you wish to wait. And as I'm British I found it really annoying when other tourists would NOT queue and just jumped infront. I don't think that enough attention was paid to empty dishes of food being replaced. The Head Waiter (I think) appeared very miserable but the other waiters were lovely. While we were there they had a new decking area erected to use for outside dining. It was my husbands 70th Birthday while we were there and a bottle of Champagne was brought to our room which we thought was a fabulous gesture. Also on Valentines night it was so lovely as they decorated the dining area and a female violinist dressed accordingly for valentines day played the most beautiful music to couples entering the dining room. It was very special and well done to the hotel for providing this extra time. We found plenty of sunbeds and while we were there people didn't abuse the system by putting towels down early in the morning. It was nice to watch the ferries coming and going throughout the day and I notice someone did say how intrusive they were neither of us found this to be so. Drinks in the hotel are a bit dearer but not too dear. Cocktails 8.50 euros!!! Loads of bars and restaurants very close by and quite reasonable. Taxi rank just a few metres from the front of the hotel but the bus station is about 15 mins walk. Would we go back to this hotel Yes .

My mother and I spend a week at the hotel. We come here already for several years. The hotel is perfectly situated at the end of the walking boulevard. All the shops, bars, restaurants are at walking distance. Our room was on the 8th floor ( the highest one) with a great view on the harbour where you can see the ferry’s come and go to the island La Gomera. The room is spacious enough for 2 people and very bright. On the upper floor there are 2 quiet sun decks where you can always find a place to rest and enjoy the lovely view. The hotel staff is very friendly, especially the people who work in the restaurant. At the buffet you have enough choices for everyone’s taste. We especially liked the fresh fish that they grilled on the spot. We’ll come back next year!

With a seaview room you get a great view of the harbour and the ferries coming in and out. The sun is on the balcony afternoon/evening. In the summer it might be too hot to sit out so perhaps the mountain view side might be better, although obviously not such a stunning view as the town is between the hotel and the mountains! The room was lovely, clean and bright. There is a socket each side of the bed which is handy for charging gadgets. There is a huge full length mirror in the bedroom and it's in a useful place - not tucked up the darkest, narrowest part of the room as in many hotels. The bathroom is well equipped with lots of toiletries including shower gel, shampoo, tissues, shower cap, shoe horn and more. The one thing it lacked was conditioner which was surprising. Towels were supplied for the pool and could be changed at the pool. We only had breakfast but that was plentiful and even at the busiest time it was easy to find a seat. As well as normal buffet hot food they also have a 'cook it while you wait' counter. It seemed few people ate at the hotel at lunchtime but it was very busy in the evenings. You have to wear smart clothes to eat dinner there and we don't like to dress up so can't say what the evening food was like. Staff were very friendly. Pool area is very nice and also sheltered when it was windy. They were building a new deck area while we were there so was a bit noisy in the day time but that will soon be done and will give more outside seating for the restaurant(?) Be aware that if you stay in a sea view room you will get noise from the evening entertainment but it finishes somewhere between 10 and 10.45pm so we didn't mind. The entertainment is geared toward the older generation (65+?) and at just under 60 we were amongst the youngest there. We would definitely have no hesitation in going back to this hotel. Note: if you pay your bill at the hotel you may be asked if you want to pay in pounds or euros - always choose euros!

Check in was smooth and I was taken to my room. No sea view rooms were available when I booked but I was given a room on the side of the building where I could see the sea from the balcony. Room was adequate with enough storage space for me (solo traveller), it was cleaned daily and towels and bedding changed regularly. The nespresso coffee maker was there, along with robe, slippers and beach towels but you have to pay for the room safe. I asked at reception where the spa was and was given a tour of the whole place by Nicholas, he also recommended areas to visit and where the best beach was. I stayed full board and as i follow a vegetarian diet, even though i had no problems finding suitable food at all, I was told on several occasions that if I couldn't find anything I wanted that they would ask the chefs in the kitchen to prepare something. Lunch especially was fabulous (not buffet) and Andrea looked after me very well. The roof terraces are nice and I snoozed away a good few hours up there. Good ocean views. The pool area was clean and there seemed to be adequate sun longers (it was January/February but I believe the hotel was full). There are a few shady areas around the pool. I booked a pedicure at the Despacio spa but was somewhat disappointed by it. It felt rushed and no base or top coat was used apart from a (supposedly) quick dry spray. Cost was €30. There are many other salons in the area so I think that next time I will visit one of these instead. I didn't visit the entertainment during the evening so I can't comment on that. There were also activities arranged throughout the day (opposite the hotel is a hub of pétanque activity at all hours of the day and night too). The beach right outside is pretty poor but 10 minutes stroll away is the town and harbour beach which is ok. It's sandy and good if you enjoy ferry watching. Walk for another 10 minutes and you will find playa de las vistas which is a quieter beach. Further on you eventually get to the Golden mile shopping area. As with many H10 hotels, the clientele seems to be older which I expected and is why I booked an adult only hotel so be aware of this if you're looking for anything other than a quiet break. I felt very relaxed at H10 Big Sur and only have praise for the staff who really do make you feel welcome. As a member of the H10 club already, this will be a favourite of mine to visit. Special thanks to Nicholas, Andrea, Jesùs, George, Pascal V and Nico F who helped to make my relaxing break even more enjoyable. W.

our party was 2 couples and we all upgraded to sea view and it was worth every penny. Hotel was brilliant will definetly be back. We also joined the H10 membership which i hope will come in handy. We were half board and both breakfast and evening meal spot on.

Having booked a Superior Sea View room directly with the hotel, I was extremely disappointed to find on arrival that the room was not available until the next day. The reason we booked this room type was that they are located on floor 2, therefore no need to use the lift, and each room has a large private balcony furnished with sun loungers. Instead, we were offered an ‘upgrade’ to a suite. Although the suite was a much larger room with sofa and jacuzzi bath, it was located on the 6th floor and the bedroom was located on the back of the hotel which is very noisy all night long. The balcony is about a third of the size we booked and does not have sun loungers. This is a downgrade in my opinion. After politely complaining to the front desk, I was told that there was nothing they could do about it as the hotel was full. They were unable to explain how this had happened when I had booked directly with them several months ago. The best they could offer us was a move to a different room the next day. However in my opinion, at a cost of over 300 euros a night, this is totally unacceptable. I was told that the hotel manager would get in touch to explain what had happened and to offer compensation. This did not happen and to date we have not been compensated. When you make a booking with a hotel, you are entering into a legally binding contract which you should expect to be honoured i.e. you should get the room type you booked for the price you agreed to pay. I will not be booking this hotel again!

Los Christianos is busy with tourists, but we actually ended up in H10, a hotel for grown-ups with the most forthcoming staff. We were welcomed ay the reception by George Clooney serving a fresh drink with cava. Do I need to tell you that this was one of the greatest check-ins I’ve ever had? Even though it wasn’t George Clooney, but Jesus, I totally enjoyed the welcome. Jesus was checking up on everything, table reservation and if our room was ok and his wit and charm can certainly compete with George Clooney’s. The hotel room was on the top floor and was nice. Los Christianos can be noisy, so I would recommend all guests to go to the top floors if possible. We had a nice dinner in the restaurant and the waiter was so friendly and professional, I’m sorry I haven’t got his name. Checking out was just as easy and I couldn’t help asking Jesus if he is often compared to George Clooney. Guess what he said…

Fabulous hotel very clean and in good location. Staff are generally very good and helpful. We stayed in a superior sea view room which has sun beds and very sheltered. However the tiles are beginning to look dirty and the whole area could do with a deep clean. The rooms are perhaps a bit small for the money paid but location wins. Main problem for me is the dining room it is way too small for people In hotel. This is our third year here and the hotel makes you wait for a table in a Buffet restaurant. This did not happen in previous years. Think they have difficulty getting the dishes replaced so they stagger the amount of people in the dining room. The food is generally bland and tasteless apart from far too much salt. There is an A la Carte area this year that is underused and not particularly great. Consideration should be given to scrapping this area and amalgamating this back into the restaurant again. Got really fed up waiting to get a table. Think we will look for somewhere else next year because of the food.

Like others on here, we were told we could not have our sea-view room on the first night due to an over-stayer whose partner had been taken to hospital. However we were given a few perks and a free a la carte meal as compensation so we left it at that. This hotel has a no under 18's policy which was very much appreciated as peace and quiet is a big part of our holiday. Having said that if you are under 40 you will be one of the youngest staying here! We were booked in for B&B only and I have to say the food for breakfast was fantastic. Everything you could ever want was there. The staff are excellent whether they be working behind reception, cooks, porters, waiters or room maids, they were all really keen to please. It is a very clean building although like many Spanish hotels there is the odd bit of dodgy wiring with lampshades being held up by their cables, etc. Pool was heated and there is an extra sun-bathing area on the roof. The one thing we did not like was the badly designed bathroom which had a shower screen banging into the sink surround whenever we used the bath, making it difficult to get in and out. TV has several UK channels including BBC1 & ITV. Phones for Room Service in every room. All in all a very enjoyable stay, even if you only want to use it as a base to see the rest of Los Cristianos. It is a peaceful haven in a very busy part of Tenerife.
