Just returned from a relaxing stay at this boutique hotel. Paid a bit extra for a large balcony room and it was well worth it. Meant we could sunbath all day right outside our room and pop inside when we wanted to cool down. We hate having to find sun beds at the pool so this went down a treat. Food was of a high standard but we’d have liked a bit more choice at night, maybe themed nights to mix it up. Don’t let this put you off though as we ate out a few nights as food is relatively inexpensive. We booked half board, no need to book full board unless you want to be eating all day long. We did try lunch on one occasion and the food was amazing, a la carte, definitely worth doing. The only thing that fell short on our holiday was that the hotel didn’t have a large balcony room when we arrived (although we’d booked this type of room months ago). In all my years travelling this has never happened before and we were dumbfounded and angry. We had no choice but to accept a sea view room instead. The hotel did give us the safe hire and a lunch free but this did not make up for our disappointment. On a more positive note bar and restaurant staff couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly. Definitely worth a visit if you want an adults only hotel in a good location.
Nice boutique hotel, and the staff are excellent. The location is good for Los Christianos and you can walk straight out of the hotel onto the walkway for other resorts. We had stayed in H10 hotels before and I can thoroughly recommend them. However, we paid £1754 for a week Bed and Breakfast from Glasgow in a room where you could only see the dustbins and no sunshine! Is that good value? I think not. I would not recommend the Jet2 route, perhaps going flights separate and booking directly with the Hotel would have been better. It won't happen again.
We booked & travelled with Jet2 and arrived in the middle of Carnival so had some access problems (not the hotel's fault!) Reception was efficient and their welcome Buck's Fizz was indeed welcome after quite a long walk dragging cases through the streets lined with crowds watching the parades! Our room was on the first floor directly above the canopy over the bar with not a very good sea view which we had paid for. Request at Reception for a better room was politely dealt with and we moved to fourth floor the following day, much better in every respect. The Dinner & Breakfast arrangement is Buffet Style which always has limitations keeping bulk produced food fresh and hot. Having said that the menu selections and quality standards were always good and there is an option for fresh grill dishes in morning and evening. Perhaps the biggest disappointment of the dining experience is that it is not relaxed and the emphasis is very much on quick turnaround to allow somebody else to use the table again which is perhaps understandable given that there are around 200 rooms and only 100 tables. The poolside area was always busy and whereas lounger booking was not (generally) an issue there was always a queue before the pool cleaning was finished at around 0915 each day followed by a mini stampede to get to favourite locations. Quite comical really! The 8th Floor Sun Terraces are a useful alternative. On check out there was an additional restaurant bar bill on our account but the Reception agreed that this was an error without any fuss and removed the item. Overall the hotel is in a good location with direct access to the promenade, is well presented and maintained inside & out, the staff are efficient and friendly and whilst not a true 'boutique hotel' it is recommendable for a Winter Sun Break.
Big Sur is the third H10 hotel we have stayed in in the last year. It's adults only, which makes for a more relaxing holiday, the staff can't do enough, the food is first class, with show cooking at breakfast and dinner. Coffee machine in the bedrooms, topped up daily, two bottles of water each day, lovely, thick towelling robes and complimentary slippers all add to the wonderful holiday experience. It was my birthday whilst I was there and received a bottle of iced champagne, delivered to my room, balloons and a card, plus a mini birthday cake at dinner, lots of little gestures that all meant a lot. It's only a small hotel in size, but big on welcome and service plus excellent food. Would we recommend it. Yes, definitely.
We have just returned from our first holiday in Tenerife and H10 Big Sur. The hotel is nicely situated although as a previous reviewer has stated a very steep drive to the front of the hotel. Our room although at the back facing the main road was light airy and very comfortable. First time we used the shower it leaked but after reporting it at the reception it was soon fixed. Fresh towels nearly every day and bed linen changed twice in 11 nights. We also discovered the Chill Out Zone on floor 8 and used it every afternoon , just prefect for us as it was quite and peaceful. The food was fine although we did get fed up with buffet dining. Salads were lovely but the vegetables very odd. The staff in the restaurant were very good apart from one man who told me I couldn’t take a cup of hot water out of the dining room . After I complained at reception they spoke to him on the phone and his attitude was he was the maitre de and what he said went. It does say you are not allowed to take food or drink out of the dining room but people were doing , he didn’t see them . As far as I was concerned this incident spoilt my holiday . We had paid a lot of money for this holiday and I didn’t like his attitude . We too had a problem with people smoking and in fact never went in the bar in the evening to listen to the entertainment but preferred to sit in the very comfortable lounge area.
Wonderful stay at this adult only hotel. A bit pricey in my opinion , but good facilities. Dissapointed that you have to prebook for the sauna , it doesnt get turned on otherwise and the gym is tiny. Great staff though and wonderful entertainment every night !
Each time we visit the Big Sur we think that nothing can be improved on, then we are proved wrong! Since our last visit in November the food is even better, and it was good before. The sign of a quality hotel is when the management are constantly striving to make small changes and don't become complacent. The staff are so efficient and friendly, we couldn't single anyone out as they are all good. We didn't experience any queuing in the restaurant and the standard of cleaniness in all areas is excellent. At other H10 hotels we have visited there is often a queue of guests at reception making complaints, but not here, that is why so many return. Why stay anywhere else in Los Cristianos? We are looking forward to our next visit already!
This was our first time in Los Cristianos and we purposely booked the Big Sur because it's an adult's only hotel. I wouldn't describe the hotel as a boutique hotel because of its size but in terms of the decor then I think they've made a great effort to make it look very light, breezy, and the rooms are all pretty. The front desk was efficient, not particularly welcoming apart from a glass of cava, but I think they are very busy. The rooms are quite small but perfectly adequate for a week's stay. We were on the fourth floor and as others have said, the sea views are fabulous. The beds were comfortable, there was a welcome coffee machine and 2 bottles of complimentary water every day. The cleanliness of the room was good. We had a leaky shower at the bottom near the door but apart from that, everything was well maintained. We were half board - the food choice was good I thought. My husband is veggie and there was a great choice for him. I enjoyed the grill to order option most nights, and the salad range was good. Similarly we both found breakfast to be varied in choice and good quality. You do sometimes have to wait for a table but it's no big deal, it's well managed and I don' t think we ever waited longer than 5 minutes. Sometimes the wait staff were really slow to clear the table or to take a drinks order so I felt that we were in a cafe more than a restaurant - quite often we sat there with plates and cutlery piled up. Twice we were left with no drinks and had pretty much finished eating by the time we found somebody to order from - the hotel is missing a trick there! My big gripe (which a lot of people mention on here) is the amount of smoking allowed in both the bar (which was covered with plastic walls up) and the outside dining area. I can't bear almost constant smoking when I'm eating so unfortunately only sat out there once. I know it's the law in Spain but I really think that where food is being served/eaten then it should be in a completely different area that's sectioned off and away from non-smokers. The pool area and the upstairs terrace is lovely to sit around - there's the same old battle for sunbeds that you find everywhere but we always found somewhere to sit when the sun did make an appearance. The 8th floor terrace is much quieter. The walks along the front go on for miles and the hotel is perfectly positioned to just step out and wander out a few times a day. What I was surprised about is that the hotel seems to attract a much older clientele - I'm no spring chicken but I must have been 20 years under the average age. It did mean that by 11pm the hotel is pretty much silent so we did sleep well! :-) Not sure we'll return because of the age of the clientele - at times it was reminiscent of a residential care home.
Just back from a 7 day stay at this hotel. On arrival we were allocated a sea view room on the first floor, however, the view was disappointing as we looked out over the roof of the outdoor terrace. Also the bathroom was dark and we felt it needed updating.Requested a move to higher floor which was organised for the following day. We were moved to the 4th floor which was much better. Nice view and a better bathroom. Food was good. The staff were very pleasant and efficient, especially in the dining room with plates cleared quickly. We didn’t have any problems with securing a table either in the morning or evening. Good location for walking to Playa de las Americas. Evening entertainment was also good. Would be happy to recommend and would be happy to return at a future date. We did feel it was a little bit expensive though at just under £2000 for two people for a week. We have stayed in 5* accommodation for the same or slightly less.
Came for our 5th visit. As expected and on my wife’s birthday she was given the full works by the staff & management. Couldn’t have asked for more. 10 days good food & excellent service. Will know doubt be back again finds &health permitting.
