what a great place staff great location great pool area great from start to finish nothing any bother even when you check out you can keep your room if it is free or the let you use another room for a shower and change of clothes that you can book a time that you want

This is my second review of this charming hotel. My first review gave it 100% in all departments and this last visit was no different if anything I believe it excelled on 2016/17 The hotel attracts an across the board mix of nationality which gives an interesting cultural social mix. The manager with his teams consistent standards, 100% focus on the guests,a beautiful tranquil and private setting makes this hotel the most desirable place to stay. To conclude If like me you want to be in beautiful surroundings with classic/different culture furnishings( no plastic canteen elements),and personal service. Villa Cortes is the place to be.

I've wanted to stay at this hotel for many years, it looks interesting from the outside with its multi coloured mexican theme. So I took the plunge and booked via booking.com at a supposed 50% discount - still 895 euros for 5 nights. This was for the cheapest room! Upon arrival the lobby looks nice and reception staff were friendly. Unfortunately I'd missed the small print on booking.com - the pool areas were closed for refurbishment which was really disappointing. We were upgraded to a junior suite which gave us the sea view I so wanted. Lovely I thought, the price for this room was over £2,100 for the same 5 nights!! Unfortunately we were very disappointed, the whole hotel is as per the pictures online - dark old fashioned wood furniture decorated with mexican pottery which might have looked nice 15 years ago when the hotel was built but for us just looks cheap and tatty now. The blue sofas in the room were faded and old, must have been there since the beginning. The room was dark and not helped by net curtains and thick curtains with tie-backs that couldn't be drawn back to allow light in the room. No sun on our balcony. Poor quality bathroom shower gel and shampoo and very stingy - one small bottle per day provided. Bath towels seen better days, bed was comfy but bedding was basic. No tea/coffee facilities, hardly any sockets so charging iPhone was a pain. Overall the room was depressing and smelt fusty. On the plus side, good shower, very quiet so slept well. Breakfast choice was good so no complaints there although I've had better in terms of food quality. Outside as I said was mostly closed. Had one lunch at the beach bar but wasn't impressed - funny taste in the food which was also the same as strange smell that emanated from the bar area. Beach towels were provided - again not 5 star quality ones. Spa looked nice but didn't go in. Overall would definitely not recommend. We had booked the Vulcano for half the price and also included half board. We went to look there - lovely newly refurbished rooms in modern greys and whites, much better value and just down the road. Sorry Villa Cortes but you need to re-invest some of the millions you have extracted from guests over the years if you want to keep charging the high prices and deliver to the 5* expectation.

I honestly don't know how this hotel got its 5 stars. The good thing about it is its size and variety of amenities. However, you would expect a 5 stars hotel with an average price-tag of 400€/night would at least offer them for free! It seems it hasn't been updated of the current situation of luxury hotels. Its system is as outdated as its furniture. The wifi is 8€/day (unacceptable in 2017!) The spa is 15€/HOUR!!! The breakfast is good, however the staff is kind of rude and very noisy. Parking is available through vale service and it costs 12€/day. Do not take it as there is plenty of free parking space available all around the hotel. The hotel restaurant by the beach is overpriced and its part of the beach isn't very well-maintained. The water in the swimming pool is freezing. There is no deep end. You might struggle to find a lounge chair. The bar by the pool is overpriced and they tried to charge us more than what we actually ordered at the check-out. I can't say my overall stay was bad. Despite the very old designs and atmosphere it has, it is actually very comfortable. We had a big suite, with a entrance and lounge area, a big bedroom, a huge bathroom with a bathtub and a shower unit, as well as a toilet that is separated by a door - even though the sanitary elements were a bit old (eg: shower handle is rusty and splashes water everywhere). It just didn't meet my expectations and is ABSOLUTELY NOT worth the price-tag!

First class Hotel. Great staff. First class dinning. Great location. Cannot fault anything. Tui gaves us great service a perfect holiday. Many thanks to one and all. Will book again in the new year and will look forward to the same.

We have visited Tenerife many times over the past 6 years and had strolled past the Villa Cortes many times promising ourselves that one day we would stay there. Having started up my own business nearly 18 months ago and working 10-16 hours days, seven days a week during that period I decided I needed to recharge my batteries and now was the time to book into the Villa Cortes and treat myself to a junior suite. I could wax lyrically for thousands of words about have wonderful this hotel is, but it would probably bore the backside off of the readers and if any of my customers find this review they would also think I have been overcharging them to be able to afford this level of comfort and impeccable service, so I shall keep it brief. From the moment we arrived and were upgraded to a full suite from a junior suite to the moment we departed and headed to the airport we were treated like royalty. Suite 406 was beyond my expectations with a stunning sea view to wake up to each morning. The breakfast is exceptional with just about everything one could possibly wish for including cava which set the day up nicely. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. We can't wait to return. I have marked the hotel down by 1 star simply because in places it is starting to show signs of ware and tear. Nothing that detracts from a wonderful stay but I hope that whoever owns this wonderful place continues to invest and renew things when applicable, oh and the flowers on the fourth floor lift entrance could do with a dust and brush up. Please don't let your future customers down. Many thanks for a wonderful break and hoping to see you soon

I visited this hotel 3 years ago and had a lovely holiday, however fast forward 3 years and it seems to be a little jaded. The staff at the hotel seem disinterested in the guests and could do with looking as if they care. Having said that i must commend the housekeeping staff as they were always smiling and extremely helpful. Sun loungers on terrace overlooking the beach are starting to break and the covers have holes and stains on replacements definitely need! On a good note our room was of a high standard though it would be nice if there was a kettle in the room and as i said housekeeping kept everything really nice, another high point is the food, breakfast was exceptional and the restaurants were very good.

We visited Tenerife for the first time to celebrate my wife's "significant" birthday and chose the hotel on TripAdvisor recommendations. We were not disappointed. The is a quite beautiful hotel with great facilities and real elegance. It is a real Oasis away from the more commercial and brash aspects of its neighbourhood. We opted for a room with a sea view and to be honest, it was not a great view, we were "side-on" to the sea and on the 2nd floor where the lush trees and bushes obscured a lot of the view. It wasn't a real issue for us as we were out of our room most of the time, but I would opt for the cheaper "garden view" the next time. Our room was large and well furnished with plenty of storage. It is really crying out for tea/coffee making facilities though! There are lots of sun bed options around the pool, but the real plus is the beach facilities facing onto the sea. We spent much of our time relaxing and enjoying the sun out there. There is an abundance of eating options and as previously mentioned in other reviews the breakfasts are fantastic in terms of quality, variety and volume! It would appear that most guests were not using the other dining facilities in the hotel (based on our limited experience) but I guess, like us, people want to get out and about in the evening. My one complaint is WiFi! Your are charged €8 per day to access it from your room but its free by the pool and reception areas - which does not make a lot of sense, either way it drops constantly and was a real pain. There were 4 of us on the trip and all had the same experience. I'm not sure if this is a local infrastructure issue or a hotel issue.

This is my first review on Trip Advisor. We had such an amazing holiday that I felt compelled to write a review. We wanted somewhere special to celebrate a milestone birthday and as we loved this hotel so much last year we decided to return to the Villa Cortes and were certainly not disappointed. We were allocated a beautiful room on the 3rd floor with the most amazing balcony and sea view which contributed enormously to our stay. We stayed on a half board basis and the food was delicious and so well presented you felt as though you had to take pictures of it all the time – I only took a couple! All the staff are a credit to this hotel, nothing is too much trouble for any of them, so professional. The Hotel Manager spends time every morning going around the hotel and pool and speaking to as many guests as he can and it is small gestures like this that you remember when you get home. The location is excellent, just a short stroll away from great shopping, restaurants and bars etc. Yes there is a bit of sunbed saving, we are not the earliest of the risers but managed to save some beds everyday on our way to breakfast and always found a spot – I must add we did then use the beds for the day. I agree with others that perhaps tea/coffee facilities could be provided in the rooms but this would not stop me booking a return visit as we take our own if we know none are provided. Thank you again to everyone at the Villa Cortes for an incredible holiday - we will certainly be booking a return visit soon.

Although we went to this hotel in May with my husband and thoroughly enjoyed everything, my husband lost his fight with cancer in July so I decided to return in October to recall happy memories. This hotel is still very good but BEWARE I was charged 13 euro's at the pool bar for a Barcardi and Coke. I did complain at reception twice after asking to speak to the manager (which I didn't!) I got a refund of 1.60 euro's! the bar man said I asked for premium rum ... I didn't ! I noticed people taking their own drinks to the pool (even asking for ice at the bar) maybe this is why. But this is still a lovely hotel just beware.
