El Cortijo de Tejia, is located in the center of the island of Lanzarote, in the municipality of Teguise. It is an old farmhouse renovated respecting the traditional architecture of the island. The silence, privacy and tranquility of the place make it ideal for relaxation and contact with nature away from conventional tourism, within walking distance of the places on the island to sample our cuisine, visit tourist centers, museums, wineries or sports practices, etc.
It has 3 bedrooms with fully equipped double beds, home of 2-6 persons, bathroom, library, lounge, fitted kitchen and separate dining room. The outdoor area features a private pool, garden, pergola with BBQ, parking area, giving every chance to enjoy the outdoors.

Super house done up with such good taste. Beautiful and remote. So much wonderful stuff to see in Lanzerote. Lava rocks in volcanoes , super hidden tiny coves to swim in , cedar Manriques wonderful clean design influence everywhere. We loved it.

Villa amazing in its typical Lanzarote old style, beautiful. Outside area delightful, many cats so be aware beforehand. Easy access to whole island. No real problems but questions answered and dealt with immediately. Would visit again. You need a car

Authentic and spectacular location

This is a really beautiful and traditional Lanzarote farmhouse, with striking views and a characterful and artistic interior. The accommodation is spacious and comfortable, the owners are very friendly and helpful, and it's located in a dramatic and memorable spot. Despite this, it is very conveniently located, with all the services you will probably need nearby. We particularly like the sunny terrace, the tranquility and the feeling that this is someone's home rather than just another holiday let. Highly recommended to those looking for a quirky and peaceful base in Lanzarote.

Blissful Hideout

We have just returned from a fabulous relaxing week in Juan's wonderful house. If you want solitude away from the crowds yet within 10 minutes drive of the town and beaches and don't want to stay in pretentious surroundings then this house is the place to be! The house is an inviting, cosy retreat full of interesting features, furniture and artwork; the outside space is enclosed and inviting where you can escape the winds or relax in the shade out of the sun when its too hot. Although the pool was a little dirty when we arrived, Juan could not be more apologetic and immediately attended to clean it for us. If you're expecting 5* star minimalistic chic, don't go....if you're expecting to escape and unwind in a 5* traditional back to basics homely retreat then I cannot recommend this place enough! We absolutely LOVED our week away here; we miss the cats already and would return in a heartbeat. Thank you Juan for being a wonderful host....

A brilliant place to stay in the heart of Lanzarote

We would strongly recommend this as the perfect base for a holiday on the island. We stayed for eight nights in early- mid November 2022. We have very high standards and this place met them in all regards - a large, well-equipped, very comfortable and simply very lovely place to stay, - and with a very nice host who is invisible unless needed. It is only 10 minutes drive to the beach and to the supermarket. The whole island - North, South and inland is accessible within 10-50 minutes. We totally loved it here and think you will too. Even the kitchen knives are sharp - how rare is that? We would love to stay here again. Thank you very much, Juan!

Peaceful, quiet comfy house

Lovely house in quiet location. Very rustic and down to earth, fab huge plants, (a nod to Cesar!) Lovely owner who lives in adjoining property, respectful and private. He has lots of cats who visit frequently, wanting to be fed... Hmmmm didn't love this part. It's charming that they drink from the pool but a bit weird! Pool floor needs a clean. Although we love natural, it gent a bit grubby. Mattresses are not too good. I didn't sleep much because of this and strong smell of floral fabric conditioner. Overall though, a lovely home in a quiet location. Dark skies, stars, fully equipped kitchen. Loads of space

Simply the Best

A wonderful villa, we have been to Lanzarote many times now and this is definitely the best we have stayed in. The position in the middle of the countryside is ideal to if you want peace and quiet, the only sounds you will hear all day is the occasional plane taking off from the airport. The nearest building is about half a mile away with no others within miles. However you are very close by car (5 to 10 minutes) to the sea Costa Teguise, and many restaurants and other amenities. As a previous review said the pictures don't do the villa justice it is decorated brilliantly with huge indoor plants and many original artworks around the walls. As the house is not on any mains services don't expect electricity guzzling appliances like dishwasher and washing machine, but the electric supply was completely adequate for all other uses (wifi, tv, lighting etc.) The internet connection was fast, the hot water was very hot. The pool was bigger than we expected from the pictures and got plenty of use. Juan was very helpful and friendly, unfortunately we were half an hour late meeting him at the arranged meeting point on the first day as roadworks on the road from Tahiche got me confused and I spent some time going round in circles. Phoned Juan and he came back out straight away and guided us to the property. A definite 5 stars all round.

Meravellós Cortijo Lanzaroteño

A vegades, quan vas a un lloc nou esperes trobarte una bona persona del pais que et pugui aconsellar tot allo imprescindible per visitar. Vam buscar allotjament en un lloc que no fos gaire turistic, i vam trobar aquesta meravellosa casa al mig del no res lanzaroteny. Una casa tradicional de l’illa, en perfecte estat, molt bona decoració, amplia i molt important, amb piscina. Ha estat un gran encert, i en Juan un perfecte amfitrio. Ell ens ha explicat tot el que haviem de visitar i com visitarho. Ens ha donat les millors recomanacions de bons restaurants. Amb ell hem pogut parlar de tot i tambe hem arreglat una mica el pais ; Hem pogut coneixer un “conejero” de veritat, un indigena de cap a peus. Moltes gracies per fernos viure Lanzarote com el que es: un paradis, que pel que sembla, per tots els volcans, jameos, coves, lava, i tot el que Cesar Manrique va voler protegir sembla sorgit del fons de l’infern.

A Happy Return!

My wife and I stayed here last year and had no hesitation in booking again. The house is old but full of character approached by an off-road track. There are wonderful, long distant views in all directions iand very quiet. A great place to relax!

My wife and I have just returned from a 9 night stay at this property. As the previous reviews have stated, the property is better than the pictures you see on internet. The property is situated off the main road along a dirt track. No other properties around you, total peace and quiet. Situated very close to Costa Teguise. This property is an absolute gem. We both left with heavy hearts. Finally last but not least Juan was an absolute pleasure to deal with. He has a property to be very proud of. We will hopefully return one day.

Quiet, almost remote, stay in a fine traditional, family house.rdar

This is a brilliantly refurbished traditional Lanzarote farmhouse about 300m from a main road but totally quiet. Juan was a great host arranging to meet us in Costa Teguise beforehand. The house has been renovated to a high standard (only one bathroom), but with delightful dining and lounge rooms, and a library! In all, extremely comfortable.

Absolutly Perfect in every way!

This must be one of the best villas and nicest owners on the whole island. If possible, I'd give everything 10 stars. From the moment we made our booking, Juan was in touch with every detail. We kept in touch via text and even though we arrived late following a delayed flight, Juan met us as promised and led us to the villa, the drive is a little bumpy but easily passable with any hire car, just take your time. The drive adds to the rural feel of this amazing location. Upon arrival we were given a guided tour, the photos simply do not do justice to this wonderful house. We 'wowed' from room to room, the house has so many charming features, it's absolutely beautiful and clearly very well looked after. The beds were very comfortable, the kitchen had everything you might need to cook almost any meal. Every room was beautifully decorated. The terrace, garden, views, pool were all outstanding. If you like peace & quiet, it doesn’t get any better than this! We visit many villas all over Europe, this really is one of the very best! On a more personal note, we got caught up in the sandstorms that affected the islands in Feb 2020. Juan could not have been more helpful. After returning our hire car at the airport our flight home was cancelled. A text to Juan and we were offered another night in his villa without hesitation, in fact he said we would be welcome to stay another week if we wanted. As tempting as that was, unfortunately we needed to get home for work. Our flight was rescheduled to the next day, and Juan was more than happy to give us a lift to the airport. During our extended stay, he checked we had enough to eat and drink, he turned what could have been a bit of a nightmare into a very relaxed minor setback. Thank you, Juan! you are a super star, one of the nicest, kindest and most helpful person we could wish to meet! There is only one place we will be staying for our next visit to Lanzerote!

We hate crowds and busy resorts, so Juan's house was perfect! It is so peaceful and quiet, but only a few miles from everything you need. Juan's communication was great and all the arrangements went to plan with no problems. The house is down a rough track, so you should consider hiring a capable car. The house itself is lovely and is quite traditional with lots of original features and exposed stonework, beams and original artworks. Whilst it doesn't look like a big house on the outside the rooms are actually quite spacious and comfortable as were the bedrooms. There's plenty of outside space for sunbathing and dining and swimming in the pool. The house had been cleaned to a high standard. The kitchen is compact, but has everything you need to create simple meals with a decent sized fridge and a basic gas cooker. We'd definitely rent Juan's house again if we went back to Lanzarote in the future. Highly Recommended.

Juan was a pleasure to deal with and the property was perfect. I was in Lanza to cycle and it’s perfectly sited, close to many routes but secluded enough to relax and unwind after a long ride. The cottage is wonderful with the various ferns and cool rooms. The pool is also perfect for cooling down tired leg muscles. I’ll definitely be back

A wonderful home from home

I cannot recommend this property enough. It is off the beaten track so you’ll need a car to get there but once you do it is absolutely idyllic. The home feels like a farmhouse with all the cosy room space and facilities you would expect. There are 4 bedrooms and a wonderful library containing quirky pieces of artwork (including by the owner!) and fascinating pictures from the past that appear to show a lovely family history in the house. Lots of farming artefacts and plants are dotted around the property which adds massively to its character. The house itself seems to be built in a traditional but ecological way that makes sure the best use of the thermal properties of the local volcanic rock as well as the wind to provide natural air conditioning and ensure the house is always a comfortable temperature even in the midday heat. The pool is a wonderful luxurious addition. It’s the perfect size especially for families and those who want to do a few short laps. The other thing to say here is unlike a lot of listings it is 100% private, there is really no one else in the vicinity so you really do get to enjoy the best peace and quiet with a wonderful view of baron hills and blue skies. The kitchen is fully stocked and very comfortable there is also a barbecue area outside near the veranda. The owner was very welcoming, meeting us when we arrived and leading us to the properly as it’s off road and won’t be on most sat nav systems. Thank you so much for letting us stay in your wonderful home, it has been a magical week and we already long for the time we can come back!

A spotless clean, spacious and quiet place for a holiday away from the crowds in the resorts.

500m to the nearest neighbour and 1000m to the nearest road. The villa is right at the bottom of couple of volcanoes, surrounded by excellent mountain bike and running paths (but not too close to obstruct the privacy). The property has some half domesticated wild cats. They are very cute and entertaining for us who like cats, but if you are not a cat lover, this property may not be for you, as they tend to get a bit loud and a little excited when hungry or thirsty. What’s not clear from the photos is that the house as a small library with a couple old and comfy armchairs. An excellent place to sit and read/listen to music with a glass of wine in the evening. In terms for an improvement, if there is anything that we missed it would be a more robust BBQ, especially for groups of more than two. That said it did not lessen our enjoyment in the villa. We had a fantastic stay here – and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone who wish a quiet, rustic place away from the resorts, but still with only a few minutes’ drive or cycle (if you hire bikes) for shopping, restaurant visits or the beach. Many thanks Juan for a lovely time!
