This hotel was great for a first night in Tegucigalpa. The area is very comfortable and a great view of the city from the balcony. Very nice staff and you can find someone who speaks English in one of the restaurants if needed.
The personnel is really kind and helpful. The hotel is average. Clean room. The armchair in my room was full of spots so you really did not want to sit on it! The bathroom was ok. I ordered food through room service and they called from the restaurant to ask me to come down since my credit card had a pin code. The food was average. Breakfast ok.
In a lapse of 10-years I have been a guest twice at Plaza del General and service continues to be superb! After my reservation got cancelled through hotels.com, I couldn't find available hotel due to a big conference in the city that had all hotels overbooked. I called the hotel, explained my issue, and I've got accommodated with 4-rooms for my party. Thanks Gaby, General manager!
It was my first time visiting Tegucigalpa and this hotel was booked for me. I was so delighted with the interior design. It feels as if you were in a small house instead of a hotel room. I had a great view of the mountains. The breakfast was delicious. It is conveniently located in a plaza surrounded by three other hotels, restaurants and bar/lounges.
I normally stay at the Clarion and have always had a great experience but there were no rooms available for ths trip so I booked at Plaze del General. This is no Clarion and would not stay here again: 1: Hotel has no parking so you have to park in another hotel's lot and walk the quarter / half block to this hotel. Not a biggie but annoying. 2. When I got into my standard room - room is smaller than those at Clarion and not as upscale but OK. However, water pressure was non-existent - I mean a trickle. They sent maintenance as I was leaving for the day. 3. When I got back at 10 PM my key did jot work. I go to lobby and they tell me they could not fix the shower so they would have to move me. They put me in a junior suite to make up for the switch which I thought was nice. Water pressure here is also not great marginally and the room has a distinct musty smell. 4. Room has no garbage can...called about half hour ago to get one and so far zilch. 5. Slowest internet service EVER...it is just terrible. It is basically unusable. 6. Bed pillows hard as rocks Would not recommend and definitely would not come back.
a nice place very quite the hospitality is nice and the have a very good breakfast buffet that come with the room the have local and american food and drinks it is a very safe area and the have a nice gym in the other hotel so check it out
I was in Tegucigalpa for a seminar, and I booked this hotel. Cant complain at all, it's a safe zone (and in Tegucigalpa this matters a lot), the hotel is part of a "hotel zone" with 3 other ones. There are good restaurants and bars (part of the hotels), but apart from that nothing else. The included breakfast buffet was OK, not the typical "continental one". They gave me a 2x1 drinks at the hotel bar. The staff was very polite and why not say it Sarai is beautiful!!!. There are always cabs outside the hotels, so you can go anywhere. Great hotel, I would use it again if I go back!
I had to stay here because the Tegucigalpa airport was closed and the airline gave us a voucher for this place. It was good. The internet was perfect (worked everywhere, only wifi password upstairs and no password at the lobby, I LOVE when it's like that). The food was nice and plentiful (we had free dinner at the hotel) though the breakfast was modest... it was small and few things, actually, I would work on that. The room I got was in the 10th floor, and the view was much nicer than what I had in a five start hotel the previous nights. Everything was very clean and the bed was huge (or the room was small? Not sure, but I had a good night's sleep). Oh, the neighborhood isn't the nicest (it is nearby, but getting there was through awful streets...).
A very average hotel in the centra part in Tegucigalpa. The rooms are nice enough and everything worked ok. The breakfast was also average. The location of the hotel is good and quite central. The staff and the service are average and it was a bit typical.
Stayed just next door at their sister property Hotel Libertador. Plaza del General is under same ownership and rooms, service, price, restaurant are of equal quality to Libertador. Both are comfortable, good service, exactly the same rates, I paid a corp rate of $87 dbl w/ taxes & breakfasts included. Breakfasts were not stupendous, but were quite decent. Both these hotels are a reliable, non-budget busting, mid range option in Tegucigalpa. Location is very central, although the immediate neighborhood lacks basic stuff like nice bars, cafes, shops, etc in which to shmooze the off hours. A good option to the budget busting higher end options such as Intercontinental & Marriot.
