This is a really very nice hotel with absolutely superb staff and a wonderful spa. Breakfast is excellent and the view from lake-facing rooms amazing. Why four, rather than five stars? First there is no room service. The reason given for this is that the hotel is spread over a large area and the hotel does not want to deliver sub-standard food. Fine, but if Deliveroo etc can deliver piping hot food across a town I’m sure this hotel could do perfectly decent room service if it wanted to. More seriously, the hotel makes a point of not having air-conditioning because of its environmental impact. I approve of that but it is a pity that people noisily walking between buildings late at night (often until 1am) means it isn’t really possible to sleep with windows open and, as a result, my room got uncomfortably hot. Relatively small grumbles about what is otherwise a first class hotel. I would return, but probably choose a room less likely to be affected by noise if the windows were open.

Wonderful relaxing stay, the hotel was perfect, staff friendly, spa fantastic, and the views, the views!! Breakfast was first class, re food the only tiny point would be to mix up the evening menu a bit more regularly, perhaps with a few daily specials. Will be coming back.

Excellent hotel. Super friendly, courteous and personable staff. We had a room with a magnificent view of castle and lake. The spa offers a multitude of saunas and a pool overviewing the lake. We had dinner at the restaurant one night and it was exquisit. Want to go again. Soon!

This hotel has a lot to go for it. It has stunning views over lake Tegernsee, the rooms with lake view are great, more like a mini suite with the bed facing the window, so you get up looking at the lake in the morning, very clever interior design. Do specifically ask for a room with lake view in the new building. Otherwise you may end up in a remote part of the hotel with very long ways for the Spa. We saw people walking through the whole hotel complex only wearing flip flops and their bathing gown. Beware, this hotel is big, so location within the hotel is something to think about before booking your room. The Spa is one of the best I have seen so far, indoor and heaed outdoor pool, very clean, four or five different saunas and a stunning panorama sauna with superb views over lake Tegernsee. Try the Senger restaurant once, the Vorgerlsalat is to die for; however the menue's quite reduced and a bit pricy even for such type of hotel. The breakfast is very decent, there is a large buffet with regional food and you can order almost anything from the waiters. But again, EUR 40 pP for breakfast is a bit much and on morning we had to wait 20mins before we were seated. Beware, they currently have a very noisy construction site at the hotel and that is something they did not flag and, even worse, did not even raise during check-in or check-out. They sold us a room basically next to the buidling site with hammering and welding at 8:00am for the full price. That's a no-go.

First off, the location of the hotel is stunning. You will find picturesque views of the alpine vista and instantly get the whole idea of what a “Bavarian experience” could be like. Staff was mostly friendly and attended to our needs upon request. Now to the truly disappointing bits. We have stayed in many five star properties throughout the world, but this place was not up to snuff. The disconnect lies in the fact that they charge for a five-star experience, yet they fail to deliver on it. The breakfast room was frigid two out of three mornings. Doors to the outside had been opened widely with the outside temperature (48 F) matching the interior temperature. Upon our complaint, we were seated near a heater and they temporarily closed the doors. The next morning, we dressed in sweater and jacket, which helped to improve the experience. Our “Deluxe Double Room” was a 300 sq ft standard European city hotel room with outdated interior. Noteworthy were the ill-fitted and ragged curtains, that mostly covered the window. No upgrades or changes were available as the hotel was sold out. We had dinner in the onsite restaurant, which had an all-clinical-white interior, including the ornate, historic (painted over) stucco. The white marble floors completed a sense of cold atmosphere. The food was good, but nothing noteworthy for two courses at €102. All in all, it was not a downright negative experience; just not what we expected for €340/night.

Fantastic staff! Very helpful and attentive. The sauna facilities are lovely and the views spectacular. The room is a bit dated considering the the price ($500 per night). While we had a lovely time, it wasn’t a great value. We have stayed at similar places with equal facilities and views and service for about half that in the area. However I have no complaint or poor comment to make on the experience. It really is a lovely hotel, if too expensive.
