This hotel needs modernising and staff training.

When I arrived they clsimed to have no record of my booking until I showed it to them on them Hoteld.com app. The bar had no beer or wine for three days. The vodka ran out after one glass. Breakfast was OK but not special and dsspjte lots of staffctheybkept runningbout of things and needed prompting to fetch more. Decoration is past its best and the bathroom had a cracked sink and was very “tired”. It would have bern nice to have foreign tv channels besides RT (Russia Today). Good points include being convient right by a Metro station), near seversl goidcrestaurants, having a money exchange desk and ease of getting a taxi via reception. The bedroom was a good size with comfy chairs. The young woman on reception when I left was very pleasant and helpful.

Very convenient location but that’s about the only positive thing about this hotel. Really needs a full refurbishment, AC doesn’t actually cools down the room, WiFi isn’t available in all the rooms, check-in and payment is very slow.

Location, right in the centre of the city. The price of this four star hotel is very reasonable.It’s dated and decor not very attractive, but it is ideal for sightseeing and there are lots of dining options around

It’s a historic and landmark hotel, no question about that. What was a major turnoff is the bar manager from the 16th floor who kept asking me to get cash from the ATM downstairs to pay him when we dined up there. This was even after I paid him very good tips in cash and asked to pay the bulk of my bills with my Visa card or billed to my room. His argument was that the hotel doesn’t pay his service fee when guests pay with card and his grief that he made 2 million soums salary. Other than that, it gets very loud in the hotel when people move into the rooms next to yours. Some guests speak very loudly in their rooms and smoke all night. It makes it difficult to sleep. Otherwise it’s a historic hotel (needs some renovation) with a Soviet vibe.

Brilliant stay in one of my favourite buildings in the world. Only minor feedback would be to have more plug points near to the bed in the rooms. Also, there were only 8-person tables at breakfast which meant I had to share with strangers which is not ideal for a solo traveller.

Pleasantly surprised. It’s not a fine hotel by any means, but it’s a good place to stay for a night or two. The staff were very helpful and checked me in at 3 AM after my flight. The location is good and the building itself is special. And it was less than 1/5 the cost of the Intercontinental.

I've visited over 100 countries but I have never stayed anywhere quiet like the hotel Uzbekistan. I made a reservation with hotels.com some 6 months prior to my stay. When I arrived I was told that they had no record of my booking. After approximately 45 mins and a number of calls with the "manager" I was told thry did indeed have a booking for me but it would not be ready for a further 30 mins. They also wanted to retain my passport despite the fact the guy on reception had taken around 10 photos of it and and my booking confirmation in the quest to locate my booking. I politely refused the request to hold my passport and offered them the opportunity to take a photocopy instead. Some 1 hour after arriving I eventually made it to my room which was datated beyond belief. Despite the booking claiming to have AC, there was none If your looking for an authentic soviet experience look no further, but be under no illusions despite it's past Grandeur this place is a present day dump
