Ok firstly I don't do beach holidays so this was to to please the misses but ............ it was GREAT! So the hotel is past its best and could do with a revamp and the service is, well Italian. But for the price you get a large room, great food - yes really. And the shuttle service to the beach that I was doubtful of takes you to a beautiful beach with serine waters and best of all it's empty, yep you'll not be tripping over the kids water wings and old women's bags just gorgeous sand between your toes - bliss
This is our third stay here, we love the location, and had loved general relaxing feeling of the whole place. The food was still very good, although we felt it wasn't quite as good as before. We had the superior package, which meant we could use the thalassotherapy spa, which was lovely. The staff are very good, very attentive and friendly. Although they don't have many English guests, many of them speak much better English than my Italian! The slight down side for us was the neighbouring guests from the Alborea Lodges, who could avail themselves of the hotel's facilities. It completely changed the ambience of the hotel, it much louder, busier and didn't feel quite so special. Our previous stays had been earlier in the year, and the Alborea hadn't been open. We understand the hotel is changing hands later this year, I guess we'll wait and see whether we'll make a 4th visit. But if we did, I think it would be earlier or much later in the season when hopefully it would be more like our previous stays.
We spent six nights in this hotel from 30th May to 5th June. It's a lovely hotel and the staff are very helpful, Enzo and Giovani in the restaurant and first class also the girls and reception, the porter and the security guard were also very helpful. The rooms are large and comfortable, all in all its a good hotel. The main issue we had was that it is isolated and too far to get public transport. The breakfast is excellent however the dinner was a bit lit and miss for us. You need insect repellent as there are lots of trees. The beach is first class, there is a shuttle bus from the hotel to the beach but we walked most of the time. You can walk along the beach to the town , its to the right and takes about a hour. If you want a peaceful holiday, this is the place for you.
This is supposedly a 5* hotel, but there was no comfort or luxury in our "Superior" room or in the public areas. This hotel is very isolated and apart from the Spa directory, there are was no English information of the immediate area in the room.If you require any details, you need to contact reception, and only one girl speaks/understands English.
Everything was very nice! The room was lovely, the food was fantastic, and the staff was pleasant and very professional. We also enjoyed a massage at the spa, and a meal at the restaurant at the beach (reservation required from the hotel the previous day) was tasty and fresh... There's a (frequent) shuttle to take you to the beach where there are chaises longues and parasols as well as a snack bar on site. I would firmly recommend trying to find a good deal at this hotel!!!
My wife and I visited this hotel in late May 2016. Our flight was by Easyjet and at the airport we had pre-booked a hire car with Europcar Hire. It was nearly a brand new automatic car and later we were very grateful that we had hired a car? We followed our sat nav to the hotel and and one or two stages we were wondering where we were going to? We came across a small hot with a gatekeeper who checked us in and told us to keep going until we came to the home. Approx. 2 miles later and through massive empty car parks and empty hotels we found our hotel. The hotel entrance looked just like an underground fall-out bunker from the cold war? Much to our surprise the entrance hall was pleasantly spacious and inviting. The greeting by that staff was amazing welcoming. Our room was on the second floor. It had a small private balcony and it was clean, tidy and welcoming. Although a little mean on the bath/body gels which we had to keep asking for. We had a fridge which was very useful as we had taken our own kettle and were able to buy milk and put in it. The evening dinners were all ala carte and served at the table with at least four courses. In general the food was good but the meat courses were always under-cooked. The breakfasts were usual continental type but with plenty eggs, bacon, etc., to fill yourself up with. We had a car and travelled around Puglia everyday and a s a base the hotel was just fine. It really was a place where nature was catered for. It was so quiet and peaceful. The other guests we met were saying that apart from a wonderful gym, sauna, steam room and pool area, there was not much else to do. The hotel's own beach was within walking distance or you could be taken by shuttle. The beaches were superb and so long with lovely white sand. We were told that we were out of season during our stay and it would get very busy in July onwards. The area of Puglia has so much to see and is outstanding for sightseeing. We would recommend any one who wished a quiet retreat then this is the place to go. The staff were just wonderful and attentive. As a base if you had a car was also excellent. The hotel grew on us as the week progressed and we began to feel very relaxed.
Have just spent a fantastic week here with my daughters and husband... We were upgraded to a suite which was immaculately clean and very comfortable.. As is the rest of the hotel and it's beautiful grounds... The staff are fantastic and the food was faultless... We can't believe that this isn't busier although it was a little out of season.. A proper 5* experience... And amazing value We will certainly be returning
The quality of the hotel, facilities, staff and especially the food was second to none. It was very pleasant being served food at the table in the evening rather than scrambling for a buffet and the fact that there were only 60 coverts made it very calm and relaxing. The rooms were large and comfortable and regularly cleaned and serviced. We did not use the spa facilities but I understand from other guests that these were very good. The only 2 things that let it down for us was that the location is very isolated, there is absolutely nothing to walk to off the hotel complex for (fortunately the price of drinks were reasonable so there was no real need to seek alternative locations on that basis) the other thing that was slightly disappointing was the facilities at the beach which stopped after our first day (27th Sept) due to it being the end of the "season" the bus still ran to take people to the beach and the toilets were open (and a miserable life guard on duty) but no food or drinks were available which meant a bus back to the hotel ( they ran every hour) and then bus back to the beach -if you could be bothered! If you are thinking of staying here rent a car and visit the area further afield (Alberobello and especially Matera ) or risk a dose of cabin fever! The hotel can accommodate trips out in a taxi but we prefered to be independent.
Booked via Secret Escapes and unsure what to expect. We had a few hiccups, the room we were given was unmade up but they quickly sorted that out. Any request was dealt with efficiently by the staff , who overall were friendly and helpful. Food was excellent and the wine list reasonably price . Beach cleaned daily and sun beds always available . We liked the design of the hotel , especially the fact that it and the beach were not overlooked. Without transport we felt isolated as no trips available through the hotel . However we meet a couple and agreed to share a taxi to Alberobello which halved the 180 euros fare . Whilst we could have been persuaded to use the SPA no attempts were made to sell us any of the products or treatments . It felt that as they had just left the high season ,winding down was foremost in there minds. Would we go again , YES . The weather was perfect , the staff delightful , the room spacious , so a very good holiday .
Arrived here after a terrible stay for one night at the valentino village next door. Totally different and no screaming kids. The view is nice and pretty quiet. It did rain for a few days but there is a basic gym, a sauna and you can wander around the sight if you got an umbrella. Theres a shuttle service to the beach which is regular. Stayed half board. Food was interesting not amazing. It is expensive to buy things, there is a market at the valentino but i wouldnt step foot in there again. The staff were great, if they didnt speak english they would find someone who did. Roberto and francesco were brilliant. All in all a nice stay but abit out of the way from everything. The sea in the afternoon was so warm. Not much of a view at the beach but if you like to just sunbathe its fine. The carpet in our room was abit marked but balcony is quite big and nice to look out at the pine trees and pond in the morning
