Riad Gharnata

This place was one of 3 recommended by our tour leader. Our booking confirmation mentioned minibar, terrace, views, access to executive lounge etc. We had none of those things. If we had 'lounge access' it certainly wasn't mentioned at check-in by the man who reluctantly interrupted his phone call to hand us keys and point at the room. No suggestion of mint tea or warm welcome, as mentioned in other reviews! There was no terrace, or view, or minibar. If we'd had a suitcase there was literally nowhere to put it, never mind open it! Fortunately we were travelling light. We actually contacted a couple of other hotels to try to move, we were so disappointed. Breakfast was very nice, but served in the area immediately outside our room so again, no views. We weren't invited to explore or shown any other area to sit or enjoy the benefits of the riad. Couldn't recommend.

Cozy little hotel. Beware you can't park your car near so be ready for a a walk and some stairs same as most of chefchaouen hotels though. Food was just okay but staff were very helpful and willing to make your stay happier. My room had access to the roof but not really sure if other rooms did, anyway, The view from that roof is amazing, so try not to miss that!

Chefchaouen is a very beautiful city and is worth the visit ! Riad Gharnata is a beautiful riad. The staff is friendly and polite :) The location is perfect and the rooms are big and clean! The view from the terrace is lovely! Breathtaking! I recommend this riad very much! Its so relaxing and you will enjoy it there !

We booked the hotel with pretty enough time and everything was confirmed by E-mail. The day of the check in, the hotel send us a message telling they had the room booked and we cannot stay there. This was informed the same check in day!!! Hotels with this kind of service should not be available in booking, Expedia and this kind of pages.

Very nice riad in the middle of the blue pearl of Chefchaouen. Parking at 5 minutes from the Riad. The moment you step out of your Riad you are right in the heart of everything. Riad is beautifully decorated and spacious. Breakfast in the courtyard was nice and elaborate. Friendly staff and good value for money. Our room was very very small.

The location is really amazing inside the medina, the riad has incredible architecture and is well kept, clean and the staff is very kind, they help you politely. It's perfect for a Medina tour of chefchauen!

We stayed there as a group of 3 and got a room that accommodates 4. There are technically ‘3 floors’ in our room! The first floor had 2 single beds, a sink and a fridge. The second floor had a double bed and the bathroom. The third floor was a rooftop terrace that is only accessible for us - the lounging area where we had breakfast. There are actually quite a few lounging areas throughout the riad (e.g. another part of the rooftop terrace). The breakfast was nice. The shower was hot enough. The staff were friendly. Location-wise, it’s close to the centre but quiet enough to avoid the noise from other tourists. 2 little complaints: First, the AC/heater was on only the second floor. It took a while to warm the first floor up..although they have plenty of duvets and blankets. Second, WiFi wasn’t stable.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Amazing riad located in centre of the Chaouen medina. The staff were easy to get to and approachable. The view from our room and balcony were beautiful. Wished we had stay longer here in the wonderful riad and medina.

Beautiful traditional Riad. Had a little problem communicating with the riad regarding our arrival. No reply on my email untill after i reached which really defeats the purpose of my email. We ended up calling them when we arrived, we could reach them easily and they sent 2 guys to come help us with the luggage and to guide us to the Riad, which I really appreciated (but to put things into perspective, it is very common for the Riad to come pick you from the carpark/or when arrive, like it did when i was in Essaouira and Marrakech) The room’s heating was not enough, due to the structure of the room; the heater only catered to the living area of the apartment, while the bed is over at another. The location is great, near the main square, and not too far off from the places that you will be to take massive pictures of the Smurfy Town! There seems to be no concrete system in the Riad, it is all very adhoc. communication between the staff seems to break down, when we told a staff we needed breakfast earlier cos we were leaving early, the message didn’t get passed to the guy on shift the next day. Nevertheless, the guy immediately got down to preparing our breakfast and made it happen, thank you. The bathroom was really tiny, shower area tiny too. Hot water was great. They don’t seem to make the room, i’m unsure if we were supposed to be inform them. What i can conclude is that this Riad gets things done for you, no frills. However it does not focus much on building relationships or being very personable. If you’re lookin for friendly and someone who will sit down and chat with you, this is not the Riad to be at.

When we arrived at the hotel we encountered a moody host that did not even welcome us. He led us to our rooms without even saying where and when the breakfast would be served the next morning. Our rooms (one double & one triple room) were not very clean, had no toilet papers and the heaters were not working properly. Additionally, there were flies flying all over the triple room. Plus, the triple room had one big double bed and two tiny sofa beds- very uncomfortable. Among the above, both rooms smelled like mould. However, the worst experience left from this hotel was the receptionist who tried to charge an extra 3% when we requested to pay by card- this is illegal and he tried to take advantage of the fact that we were tourists. We strongly recommend you to stay away from this riad.
