What a fantastic gem in the Florida panhandle. Room was spacious, clean and everyone at the Lodge was welcoming, helpful and made our short stay extremely pleasant. Looking forward to a return trip to this beautiful place.
Lovely facility in a pretty setting. Service in the dining room was painfully slow. While a state run service-the boats were just sitting there-no excursions. No TV's in the rooms. As long as you know what you'll find, a nice place to spend a little time.
Beautiful property and Lodge. Very good value for the money. Clean rooms with comfortable beds. I try to stay here everytime I am in the area.
The Lodge is one of my favorite places to stay. It is unique, quaint, historical and beautiful. The food and service are extraordinary. Top the stay off with the boat trip! The thing i dislike the most is having to leave and go home!
Wonderful experience step back in time to a place where wealthy guests were treated like in the 30's. Very lovely grounds at the beginning of the Springs to the Wakulla. If you're expecting modern new amenities, this is not for you! The dining was top notch service. Recommend!
This lodge was built in the 1930’s, no tv in room but checker and chess tables in the beautiful lobby. Last night we had a fire in the fireplace in the lobby. There is a restaurant on sight.
Amazing setting in a State Park with a beach right on the spring. Take the boat tour of the spring and river. It is so worth the $8.
Unique lodge built in 1937, trails need to be marked better. We (75 year old) did the short loop. I would have liked a map on trail to show where I am. Got snack in cafe, ice cream was good but peanuts were too salty. Breakfast at restaurant was good.
The service was 5 star. The hotel all though it’s almosy 100 years old is updated and extremely cooll
Historic lodge makes this stay a special occasion. Especially enjoyed boating excursion on nearby river.
Everyone on staff was friendly and helpful, from the front desk and the maids to the restaurant servers and the tour boat captain ! The river tour was fun and educational - a highlight of our stay in addition to the excellent food and the elegant feel of “Old Florida.” What a refreshing change from the commercialized motels !
The front desk hard to locate. Had to wait to talk about check in. Was told rudely check in was only at 3 even though there was very few guests. The soda fountain was very bad. The lady waiting on customers was grumpy because it was cold. Very few food items were microwaved and over priced. Looked more like a storage unit. The beds were very old and horrible. Loved the antiques. Grounds were beautiful. The restaurant very overpriced microwaved and not very good. The boat ride was Awesome. The building was Awesome. It is sad it is a state park and run so very poorly.
No TV in rooms, only in lobby which gave a completely different atmosphere. Thurs/Fri/Sat offers a piano player using karaoke equipment for evening sing along. Great meals and free breakfast in formal dining room plus a snack bar/souvenir shop. Enjoyed boat tour and swimming in 69 degree spring water. There's a high dive platform for viewing manatees below. Easy hiking trails and park benches to sit with coffee viewing the Wakulla River, The hotel is on National Historic Register so has maintained old architectural features like ancient elevator.
It was built in the 30's and has remained to tell what Florida was like then, it is not a hotel on an expressway but a living experience of the past to enjoy.
The area is quiet and tranquil. We visited with our son who is working on an archaeological dig next to the hotel
