I had a wonderful stay, the hotel is very clean, the rooms very comfortable, the hotel is very near the metro but you can also walk to the main touristic areas as they are just nearby, good price, and the staff is really here to help for what you need, very kind.
My husband and I stayed at The Corner House for a week in early April. The hotel was recommended to us by friends in Taiwan and we couldn't have asked for a better place. It's near a busy road but set back so it is very quiet. It's a very short walk to the Daan Park MRT and just across the road is Daan Park. Our room was very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent; I think the chef is very talented as there were different choices each day. Very good coffee also from an espresso machine. Some bonus points: you can have coffee anytime in the lobby, a pleasant place to read the paper while enjoying a latte. Also the hotel offers a coin-operated laundry, which is very useful for travellers and avoids the exorbitant costs that most hotels charge to do laundry. Overall service was very good. I would recommend this hotel to any traveller to Taipei. I could give 5 stars but always feel a hotel can improve. This one is pretty close to perfect though!
spent one evening there on 25 Feb, very clean extremely well appointed with roomy shower, hi-tech toilet, microwave. Did have to ask for an ironing board and iron, and it was delivered with a smile within 5 minutes. Being from North America, the breakfast was a bit of a let down, However had i been more adventurous It would probably been very good. Would certainly stay again, even if not on a budget
Book early! This small hotel books up fast! Centrally located on a quiet street, but close to transit, park, night market, and restaurants. The room has a balcony and a small kichentte, perfect for days when you are tired of eating out... the hotel serves great breakfast - we stayed there for 2 weeks and never got tired of the breakfast selections. Also great to have laundry machine and dryer on site, and a small gym. The staff was always curèterons. Truly everything you need for a great stay.
I truly enjoyed my four nights stay at the Corner House. The design of the room was a little neutral but it had all you could need, was spacious and perfectly neat. Breakfast was great, with changing options everyday and all delicious. And the team was very helpful in anything. I also enjoyed it's location, minutes from Daan Park subway station, in a residential area that is cute and perfectly quiet. I will probably come again if returning to Taipei.
This is an unassuming hotel at a corner of two alleys 1/10 mile from the major boulevards each way. A taxi driver missed it after I gave him detailed direction and his excuse was that it didn't look like a hotel at all. But it is a quiet and comfortable place to spend the nights for a good rest. Service - I cannot say enough about the wonderful services we received. There are always two persons at the front desk. In the night time, the front desk is reduced to one person but it is supplemented by a security guard so that there will always be someone at the door. Taipei has the lowest crime rate among all the cities in the world. A security seems redundant but you can rest assured of your safety. Every time I carried something leaving the building, someone from the front desk would walk out to open and hold the door for me. Twice I asked them to get a taxi for me, when the taxi arrived, they would walk me to the car to be sure I was getting on the right one. The day I checked out, I pushed the two pieces of luggage on wheels to the taxi. When I turned around, a young woman from the front desk carried my last piece of luggage out in her arms and it weighed more than 30 lb! The room - the room is plain and clean. The A/C worked well. I kept it a couple of degrees below ambient and it was dry and comfortable. If you prefer desert-like dryness on a tropical island, there is a dehumidifier in the room and one in the hall. There are several different sizes of rooms. We had the mid-range size that has a sitting area with a sofa, a desk, and a kitchenette with fridge, hot water pot, microwave, sink, and a stovetop. A double sliding door separates them from the bed so you can watch TV without bothering the one sleeping. The sitting area also has a door to an open balcony with two lawn chairs. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom is small but adequate. Being away from the busy streets, it was very quiet in the day and night. Breakfast - there was quite a selection of Asian and Western food every morning including many items that we usually don't consider as a breakfast food. We were there a week and the choices were different every day. The highlight of the food was a plate of inch-diameter scallops. We met the chef one day and he told us if we want something not available just ask and he will try to accommodate. We did not feel a need to ask for more. The breakfast area is open 24 hours and serves free drinks. The choices of drinks are juice, coffee, tea, water (ice, cold, cool, lukewarm, and hot). Location - across the alley is a small park and a traditional small eatery. Less than 200 feet away is a hamburger/sandwich shop. 400 feet south comes to the intersection of a large boulevard, where there is a Japanese restaurant, a 7-eleven, and the entrance to the subway station. Across the boulevard is the Daan Forest Park, the largest park in the downtown area. At breakfast, I chatted with other guests and many of them were frequent returned guests. Next time I visit Taipei, I will definitely consider this hotel first.
Hotel is very conveniently located at the Daan Park Station along the MRT red line. 4 stops from Taipei Main Station and about 3 to get to Taipei 101. Take Exit 1, and hotel will be about 200meters from it. Hotel is in a residential area so you can get a good night’s rest. We booked the superior room which has its own kitchenette. There is a breakfast buffet to get you started for the day. It’s not as extensive as 5-star hotels, but it is enough. Room was clean, bed was comfortable and cooling system was perfect. They have cable TV with a lot of English channels. Very walkable to YongKang street(food street of Taipei) about 5-10 mins, where you can try the 1st ever Din Tai Fung branch.
We stayed in the Deluxe suite for 10 days. It looks just like the pictures on their homepage. The room was spacy, clean, modern and nevertheless cosy. The air conditioning worked very well, which was important for us, because we stayed there in August (35 degrees Celsius...) The staff is very kind. Communication went smoothly. We liked the breakfast and were happy, to have coffee, tea or juice in the lobby whenever we wanted. In the basement there is coin laundry. You can shorten the waiting time by playing pool or by exercise at the free gymn. Even the location is great. We used the tamsui line very often, which is 3 minutes by foot. There are many sights along this line, for example Elephant Mountain, Taipei 101 or the Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall. If we came back to Taipei someday, we would like to stay there again.
Stayed here for 4 nights. It's in a residential area (third alley from the main road), so a quiet place to stay, but very near walking distance to Yongkang street where you can find many good food establishments. Also very near to MRT. So location wise, I think it's 10/10. The room is clean, more spacious than the average Taiwan boutique hotels, modernly furnished, with a kitchenette and small balcony. The bathroom is also clean and spacious. There are washing machine and dryer in the basement, and you can borrow an iron from the hotel. Breakfast was good. Staffs were helpful. So all in all, it was a very nice stay and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to family and friends.
Second time staying here, this time in a deluxe double room. Like previous time, very comfortable room, great bed, excellent bathroom and facilities (even a mini-kitchen). All staff - front desk, room service, breakfast - were polite, friendly and helpful. I love the location, far enough from the larger roads to be quiet, but close to an underground station (Daan Park) as well as Daan Park itself, within reasonable walking distance (about 13 minutes) of the blue Banan line, bus stop also very close by - i.e. plenty central to get everywhere quickly. The breakfast is good if you don't mind eating Taiwanese (dumplings, steamed vegetables, soy, some meat); it's less appealing if you prefer Western food, then it's basically toast, sweetbreads and jam with some small assortment of cheeses. I'm happy to eat local, so not an issue for me. Coffee is good, which is a plus. Anyway, Taipei is full of places to get fantastic food - a hotel should offer a good bed, a good bathroom, good service and quiet, and The Corner House delivers those in spades.
