The hotel’s location is pretty good, but they only have one elevator, so you always end up waiting. The main reason we booked this place was because they stated on Expedia that they had a washer and dryer — that was why we chose this hotel. But after we checked in and called to ask about it, the front desk told us their dryer had been broken for a long time, and basically said it was up to us whether we still wanted to wash our clothes (which basically meant don’t bother, because nothing would dry — and it happened to be raining in Taipei for an entire week). There was absolutely no apology or any backup plan at all. It was so ridiculous. In the end, we had no choice but to go to an outside laundromat to do our laundry.

We had so much fun in Taipei especially staying in Hotel East for the whole month. Our room was tiny but manageable. The staffs were amazing. Great breakfast everyday. Easy access to take MRT from, and close to Raohe Night Market. Just one statin away. Anyway, If we may say for the upper space/laundry room/rooftop does need to be cleaned up more cus it has so much potential in that floor, we could see the city from there and it was beautiful at night time. Oh one more thing, we don't think it is a good idea to use carpet for the floor. Taiwan is very humid, cant imagine the mold grows in there. Tiles or rocks or even concrete are better. Would we stay there if we back to Taipei? Absolutely!

Poor communication upon booking. I had problems with booking authorisation and was seeking for further assistance however it was like talking to a wall, everytime they messaged me it was by a different staff and my requests were not respected. At one time, a staff told me they will escalate to a sueprior to expedite my request, they never came back to me as if it never happened. I asked them again to ask their superior to proceed my booking, they did nothing so I had to cancel one of my booking in order to proceed further. Once we checked in, we realised that the room size were different even though we all booked for deluxe double room. I had originally 3 rooms booked altogether, but due to the above problems, I changed my booking to 2 rooms and my friend booked the same category room on own. So it should be the same room type and size but somehow my 2 rooms were way less smaller than the other room. Couldn't care less to complain at that point after my experience prior to checkin.

Front desk staffs are friendly and helpful. Great location and accessible to places around the city. 5 min walk to MRT station or bus stop right outside. Breakfast is decent with both Taiwanese and western cuisines to choose from. But there are much better options nearby. Landry equipment was broken during our stay, but there is a 24-hour laundromat one block away. One small elevator only so sometimes it takes awhile. Room is a bit dated - shower head broken, cabinet door/drawers not closing properly etc. We experienced a few issues with the room but front desk had technician come as soon as they could. However the shower head/pressure was still quite weak even after fixing. There are windows but you can’t see anything. Beds aren’t as comfortable - we had twin room so just two twin mattresses on a raised flooring. Overall, service is great. Would recommend for a short stay.

I booked this hotel for dates April 17-21, I ended up finding MOLD in the shower on the 18th and IMMEDIATELY went to check out. I spoke to the manager and said I would pay for the time I stayed in the hotel, and would like the rest of the days refunded. He would NOT budge, he was NOT apologetic, and we ended up arguing with him calling ME the unreasonable one. He went on about how ALL hotels have mold, like what??? Managers name was PETER WANG. Absolutely horrible and disgusting of a human. I’ll be filing a dispute with my credit card for this charge. my advice, splurge a bit and don’t stay at this cheap moldy hotel with the worst customer service ever. Immediately booked a new stay at Hotel Indigo, and had the best time. And guess what? no mold … haha

Close to Nanjing Sanmin MRT and bus!

Located in the Songshan district off the Nanjing Sanmin MRT. Buses are right across the street and the MRT station is about a 5-7 min walk. There are convenient stores nearby and lots of restaurants and coffee shops. The staff here is amazing! Everyone I encountered was so sweet and helpful! The rooms are in good condition, the only thing I'd complain about is the carpet. It just looked dirty, but just wear slippers! Otherwise, the bed and pillows were pretty comfy. It was pretty quiet at night and didn't have any noise complaints. Their breakfast buffet was great-they always had fruit, bread, rice, congee, soup, eggs, a pork dish, a veggie dish, etc. They have high chairs as well. There is a bakery located on the first floor of the hotel. ChiaTe is also nearby the hotel (about a 5-7 min walk) if you want to grab some pineapple cakes! If you're like me and you are scared of how much your luggage weighs, the front desk has a scale you can borrow! Near the front desk there is a water machine if you need to fill up, they also can hold your luggage if needed as well. Definitely would recommend this hotel! There was a good mix of couples, families, and business people who stayed here.
