This hotel treats me very well. Without fail they will upgrade my room and also placed some nice cookies on the table for me. Not forgetting, a bottle of wine. Their service is good. The hotel location is near my place. The room is really big and comfortable. The only negative is their breakfast. Very limited. Their gym is small. Not even considered a gym.
This review has nothing to do with the "hardware" and everything to do with the "software" of the hotel - the staff, especially ones in the lobby. On 10/12/17, my wife, who is a blond-haired blue-eyed foreigner, was hit by a taxi while in the crosswalk (with the light in her favor) in front of the hotel. She was brought in from the rain by a good Samaritan, and the lobby staff provided a comfortable place for her to rest, a towel for her to dry off, and some hot tea for everyone, including the taxi driver that hit her. None of those people were paying customers, yet were treated with such care and attention. Imagine how well they would treat paying customers.
I was disappointed with my stay at the Grand Victoria. At check in, the gentleman failed to mention anything in the hotel, restaurants, pool, bar, etc other than to say breakfast was not included in my "Executive Room" rate. The room was ok. It did not seem large but the bed was comfortable. My window did have a mountain view but also a view of a worn out parking garage, which was odd as the other surroundings of the hotel were much more serene and nice. It seemed to me the hotel did have a nice audience for weddings and other events in the hotel. Much of the lobby of the hotel, seemed restricted to these events. The pool was nice but had a gap of 12-4 when the pool was closed. It is very hot in Taipei, so that was a shame. I will pick another hotel in Taipei, next visit.
I've been Vegan for a number of years and I was concerned that the buffet breakfast this hotel offered won't have much Vegan selection at the time of making the booking. To my surprise and delight, the chief has been making special Vegan breakfast for me every day with daily fresh ingredients. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart that your kitchen staff have mostly go out of their way to make me feel welcomed. Even thought you are not catering vegan meal, you made it with ease. For someone returning home town on a business trip, there is nothing more to make me feel home than what you have offered me. Thank you for taking a good care of me this trip. Will be back Definitely.
The staff was most helpful and welcoming and the concierges were fantastic. The room and bathroom was very specious and comfortable enabling to relax a bit despite jetlag. The decor was romantic as the hotel caters for weddings. Very well located close to shops, restaurants, train, etc. Great meeting facilities. There was a lot of choice for breakfast for different tastes. The hotel website has a lot of useful information once you are on site.
Stayed in this hotel for a short business trip. Great hotel (the best so far I've been in Taipei), the rooms are big and clean. L'Occitane toiletries in the bathroom. The "smart toilet" is being a standard in high level hotels in Taipei. Most things in the minibar are complementary (tea, coffee, water, Doritos). The staff if really helpful and speaks good english. The breakfast has a bit limited selection, but everything is really good quality and tasty. The hotel is pretty quite despite being popular for weddings and business conferences. The gym and the pool are small, but should be sufficient for most. The hotel location is perfect for business in Neihu District. The hotel is located just next to Miramar mall and a big food court. Very close to an MRT station (about 5 minutes walk). Short shuttle ride from the National Palace museum. You will have to drive to Taipei 101 and other entertainment places.
Stayed here for 3 nights as part of a premium tour. Was expecting small rooms, since it's in Taipei, but room was a good size. Loved the bidet toilet, everything was clean with good housekeeping. Young, helpful staff, Concierge on night duty seem friendlier and more helpful than the ones on day duty. Sorry didn't take note of particular names, but a young lady recommended us to a casual restaurant nearby (5 mins walk) - Sanhoyan which was very good. The Ballroom on the ground floor is quite popular for local events. Seemed to be one every night, but the noise does not affect the rooms. Location of the hotel is excellent. Miramar Mall (with food court in the basement) 3 minute walk (diagonally across), Carrefour with Food Republic and Watsons, 5 minutes away. 24-hour Lai Lai Soyabean 9 minutes away. I would return and stay at this hotel - taxis don't cost that much, so there's no problem travelling out to other locations. There is an MRT station nearby, but I don't know which station it is.
Pros: Nice big and clean room. Modern amenities/controls. Walking distance to supermarket (Carrfour) and drugstore (Watson's). Service is OK, nothing to shout about. Cons: Italian cafe/restaurant on 2nd floor requires minimum spending per head. Even though 4 of us had already ordered 6 drinks in total, a 5th colleague joined us later and was asked to order at least 1 drink due to the minimum spending policy. Lack of flexibility on this policy is a minus for me. Might have given "Very Good" rating otherwise. Breakfast selection is limited.
Stayed here for over 10 times and it is first time I wrote a review. As so many new hotel was opened recently in Neihu area, therefore the price of this hotel finally go down to a more reasonable level that I think it is ok to recommend to others. Otherwise it is not worth for tourist to stay. In fact it has 2 good restaurants, food is so great in the Italian restaurant and 168 Steakhouse is a gorgeous restaurant but expensive. Breakfast is high standard and walking distance to a big shopping mall with Ferries wheel. Bed is very comfortable, snack and soft drink is free but transport to airport is not easy.
Stayed here for 3 days while attending an event at Denwell Center nearby. Overall a pleasant experience and recommended for business travellers. +ves 1. Good size room, clean and cosy 2. Branded amenities(Loccitaine), Grohe toilet fixtures, TWG tea, free daily in room beer+soft drinks+nachos+fruits is great 3. Big toilet and comes with Vilceroy automatic toilet seat. Impressive 4. Located 300m from train station and 200m from Carrefour where I could get many local Taiwanese snacks as souvenirs. Also food court nearby which is great 5. All staff were friendly and attentive -ves 1. More for business travellers as not within walking distance to any tourist spots. There is a shuttle bus to Shilin night market at mall opposite the hotel. Overall a pleasant stay and won't go wrong to pick this hotel.
