Stayed in this hotel for a short business trip. Great hotel (the best so far I've been in Taipei), the rooms are big and clean. L'Occitane toiletries in the bathroom. The "smart toilet" is being a standard in high level hotels in Taipei. Most things in the minibar are complementary (tea, coffee, water, Doritos). The staff if really helpful and speaks good english. The breakfast has a bit limited selection, but everything is really good quality and tasty. The hotel is pretty quite despite being popular for weddings and business conferences. The gym and the pool are small, but should be sufficient for most. The hotel location is perfect for business in Neihu District. The hotel is located just next to Miramar mall and a big food court. Very close to an MRT station (about 5 minutes walk). Short shuttle ride from the National Palace museum. You will have to drive to Taipei 101 and other entertainment places.
Stayed here for 3 nights as part of a premium tour. Was expecting small rooms, since it's in Taipei, but room was a good size. Loved the bidet toilet, everything was clean with good housekeeping. Young, helpful staff, Concierge on night duty seem friendlier and more helpful than the ones on day duty. Sorry didn't take note of particular names, but a young lady recommended us to a casual restaurant nearby (5 mins walk) - Sanhoyan which was very good. The Ballroom on the ground floor is quite popular for local events. Seemed to be one every night, but the noise does not affect the rooms. Location of the hotel is excellent. Miramar Mall (with food court in the basement) 3 minute walk (diagonally across), Carrefour with Food Republic and Watsons, 5 minutes away. 24-hour Lai Lai Soyabean 9 minutes away. I would return and stay at this hotel - taxis don't cost that much, so there's no problem travelling out to other locations. There is an MRT station nearby, but I don't know which station it is.
Pros: Nice big and clean room. Modern amenities/controls. Walking distance to supermarket (Carrfour) and drugstore (Watson's). Service is OK, nothing to shout about. Cons: Italian cafe/restaurant on 2nd floor requires minimum spending per head. Even though 4 of us had already ordered 6 drinks in total, a 5th colleague joined us later and was asked to order at least 1 drink due to the minimum spending policy. Lack of flexibility on this policy is a minus for me. Might have given "Very Good" rating otherwise. Breakfast selection is limited.
Stayed here for over 10 times and it is first time I wrote a review. As so many new hotel was opened recently in Neihu area, therefore the price of this hotel finally go down to a more reasonable level that I think it is ok to recommend to others. Otherwise it is not worth for tourist to stay. In fact it has 2 good restaurants, food is so great in the Italian restaurant and 168 Steakhouse is a gorgeous restaurant but expensive. Breakfast is high standard and walking distance to a big shopping mall with Ferries wheel. Bed is very comfortable, snack and soft drink is free but transport to airport is not easy.
Stayed here for 3 days while attending an event at Denwell Center nearby. Overall a pleasant experience and recommended for business travellers. +ves 1. Good size room, clean and cosy 2. Branded amenities(Loccitaine), Grohe toilet fixtures, TWG tea, free daily in room beer+soft drinks+nachos+fruits is great 3. Big toilet and comes with Vilceroy automatic toilet seat. Impressive 4. Located 300m from train station and 200m from Carrefour where I could get many local Taiwanese snacks as souvenirs. Also food court nearby which is great 5. All staff were friendly and attentive -ves 1. More for business travellers as not within walking distance to any tourist spots. There is a shuttle bus to Shilin night market at mall opposite the hotel. Overall a pleasant stay and won't go wrong to pick this hotel.
Clean and neat rooms within walking distance to the train station and shopping area. The breakfast in the Italian restaurant is quite nice. Lobby area is simple and access to the elevators area easy without having to walk very far.
stayed in the hotel on a business trip. Nice hotel with beautiful rooms. However.... upon lifting the covers off the bed, i saw looked like blood stains on the mattress protector. called house keeping, and to their credit the bed was promptly stripped and new sheets put on. however to my horror, i then discovered blood stains on the carpet and all over the toilet bowl as well. Called the manager and they promptly got me a new room. I suppose they did whatever they could to rectify the situation.... but that was very poor housekeeping indeed
I stayed at this hotel at the end of a 2 week visit to Asia on Business and possibly came away with my most divided opinion of any hotel ever! Right off the bat the rooms at this hotel are absolutely fantastic, well-proportioned with good amenities and feel light and airy. The beds were very comfortable and the TV had a good selection of channels, all of which was well appreciated after 2 weeks on the road but…. The hotel public spaces have “something” missing, although I am not quite sure what that “something” is! On each of the floors there is a lot of dead space that I assume is designed to easily accompany large events and weddings but otherwise feels a little empty and sterile Service was excellent but as a smoker the 15min shopping trip to the 7/11 each morning was a pain, not because of the walk but the time spent waiting to cross the main road! I am however yet to stay in a hotel in Taiwan that sells cigarettes so this maybe not hotel specific. The hotel location does feel like you are on the outskirts of town, rather than in the mix. There are several LARGE shopping malls located close by with food courts etc. & further exploration may have turned up something more interesting! On the topic of food, breakfast at the hotel was again first class with plenty on offer and served late into the morning Would I stay here again? There is certainly isn’t anything wrong with the hotel, but it does feel to be missing something, so I remain uncertain
I did jot write a review before but this was my second time staying at the Grand Victoria. Last time was years ago and there were constructions going on around the hotel. But after years passing, the area is pretty populated with malls and large supermarket etc. Naturally there is some traffic but bearable. The room was very clean and classy. Loved it. Except it was funny to have see through glass walls for the bathroom. There were separate non-see through doors for bath and toilet, so it was okay. It was just funny to see the room themed so classy and the bathroom so modern. The breakfast was as good as I remembered. And the staffs were very nice and pleasant as I remembered. Carrefour is in 2 small blocks away and was good to have for busy schedule. They are open till late hours. Recommend for biz trips especially.
Good location. Friendly staff. Rooms clean and new but mine didn't have a tub. Breakfast had a limited spread. Wifi strong. Weddings constantly taking place in the hotel lawn and banquet halls, didn't disturb the hotel guests though. In fact was nice to see nice looking dressed up people all the time! Taxis and the train station nearby but Uber a cheaper and more convenient option. Food readily available in the malls opposite the road. Good place to stay!
