Although a old hotel it still serves a purpose. Big rooms, with a large selection for breakfast. Fast Internet and a decent location. An excellent choice for Japanese tourists as nearly all the staff seem to soak Japanese. The only downside is the rooms could do with a makeover.
We have a wedding to attend near this hotel. My Taiwanese wife tried to make a booking at 11 AM, but was told that they were very busy with the CNY holiday and that they'd ring her back shortly. However, after a 30 minute wait, she called again, only to be told the same thing. So we booked elsewhere. We called back at 6:30 PM that night because no one had returned our second call. I spoke with the English - speaking manager who didn't seem surprised at the poor customer service. She made no attempt to apologize or make it up by offering a discount on future bookings. Having traveled extensively, this is a record for poor follow-up. Thankfully we found this out BEFORE staying there!
this was an OK hotel. The rooms are average, but there is nothing in the area. As a tourist, we walked around after we checked in and was told the night market is about 30min ride, or about $200 NTD each way on the taxi. We opt to walk around a found some cheap place to buy some snack. Overall, it was an OK hotel, but maybe more towards the business side if you have biz nearby. Poor choice for tourist.
1. Check in counter staffs not properly trained. For example, when checked in they did not advised us that in fact we could enjoy clothing' free washing allowance per day. 2. Room size is incredible big. 3. Noise of air conditioning can be alloying. 4. Buffet breakfast is good.
We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights during a recent business trip. It is a pretty old business hotel. The rooms are spacious, clean and neat. Reception staff are friendly and can converse well in English. Breakfast was limited for vegetarians. It is located a little out of Taichung city. A decent hotel.
This was my second time staying at the Zhong Ke hotel. The first time was in 2009. The hotel staff are very welcoming and can speak enough english to be understood and to understand what we are saying. The room is clean and large with good air-con. Outside temp was 36deg celsius. We had breakfast there each morning, which was very nice. A good selection on the buffet. Would stay again if visiting Taichung
This hotel is a classic business hotel and excists for many years. The room interior is a bit old school. But all is clean and fresh. Staff is correct and friendly. Breakfast is not as good as what I expected. It looks like that you need to be in time before a certain group of infameous tourists get there first...
We booked multiple rooms for two stays in this hotel during a multi-stop stay in Taiwan. What a mistake! They say the hotel is non smoking, but three of the four rooms we were initially shown reeked of smoke. They try to perfume the rooms, but this just adds another layer of stink to the equation. We assume this place is reluctant to enforce the ban for its many tour group guests for fear of upsetting the big tour group companies. They should drop the pretense of caring, especially since they at first flatly refused to change our room after we complained. The facilities are otherwise OK. The hotel needs to publicize and enforce a policy of fining smokers. Posting warnings in the rooms would be a good first step.
We arrived here at night after flight and coach ride from Taipei. Room is very huge with 2 double beds. Toilet is nothing fantastic but clean enough. No stain or any molding stuff around. Design is abit outdated but good enough for a night stay in Taichung.
Stayed for 1 night while on business. Car park directly underneath the hotel so parking isn't an issue, which can be the case in all Taiwan cities. Very friendly recepitionists and quick check in, decent sized rooms with excellent wifi as expected in a business hotel. Llocated centrally near many restaurants and bars Would have no problems staying here again when next in the city and highly recommend.
