It is very clean and modern, and the bathroom is spacious and clean. It has a bathtub and the bathroom doesn't get wet everywhere like a Taiwanese bathroom. We had breakfast which consisted of cereals, toast, egg, hash browns and Taiwanese food. It was a good mix and I was satisfied with the breakfast.
Bed was comfy air was cool hotel was quiet. No frills - bare bones. If you are looking for good coffee and a light breakfast go to Starbucks next door - literally 30 steps away. Rooms were small and outdated but clean.
We booked an overnight stay and experienced a terrible service. We complained about: - aircon is not cold - dirty room For the aircon, we called the reception 3x and and only got attended to after 45minutes, was advised to wait for 15mins, and to ensure the switch is turned on. We certainly are educated enough to know if its switched on or not. and we already tooked our bath and its still not cold. Was later on offered an electric fan, i don't understand how they think, i need a cool room and not a windy room. They insisted that the electric fan could assist, since they are offering that, it simply means that this is not the first time they encountered this concern. The room is dusty, from the table, chairs, bathrooms, and even the bottled water. I asked them to touch the chair and his hands turned a bit dirty, he just laughed and said his hands are like that in the first place. Its useless to raise the concern to them, as they simply don't understand what service is, and considering they are a "hotel" Their bathroom fixtures, are also hopeless. Please see the pictures - i may be wrong but i doubt HCG does produce faucets with that type of handle, not to mention that you can notice creases of an original/standard handle - shower curtain is too short, or is it a window curtain placed in the bathroom???
My wife and I stayed at this hotel for one night only, the room was a bit small, but very clean and tidy, every thing in the room worked, could not work out the air con,so sent for help,a rude staff member came and fixed the problem. The breakfast was a bit of a challenge for me,no western food, still we were in asia, the only problem was the staff not issue two room keys, very hard to try and work out when we were both going out to different places at night.
I was travelling through Taiwan and stopped over for a night in Taichung. This hotel was located nearby the Taichung railway station so I booked it. It was extremely cheap, about 30usd for a night, so i don't really expect much. Check in was a breeze. We arrived 2h before check in time and was promptly given a place to store our luggage. Some previous reviews mentioned that the hotel staff were rude but i beg to differ. The hotel staff were very polite, professional and extremely friendly. While stowing away my luggage, I was in a hurry to remove a few items( didnt want to keep the guy waiting) but the staff in charge kindly told me to take my time. When i returned a few hours later, the staff remembered us and brought the luggage out for us, walked us to the lift and got it all ready for us. Whenever we left and returned, hotel staff on duty were very quick to greet us as well as help us get a lift. It's hard to believe that these are the very staff that previous reviewers had accused to be 'not polite enough'. English isn't their first language and perhaps some things may be lost in translation when it comes to 'polite english', but i understand mandarin perfectly and I will say that the staff were extremely courteous in their native language. Overall, I had a good stay and I'll say keep up the good work!
Rooms for two are too small. No extra key on request. Receptionists are not polite enough (they rarely use "please", "kindly",...). The hotel looks great on the outside but kinda poor inside of the room. Sometimes the sound of the water in restroom is so loud that the kid seems scared. Overall, my experience is not good.
Wifi is weak. Room is old and smelly. Staff is not helpful and lack of knowledge. I asked whether the food is for vegan, staff guy say yes with 100% sure. But when i took that food and found some meat, and complant, that guy just reply "no meat, that's chicken" !!!!!
The location of the hotel is great. Right in front of the new Taichung station. NB the hotel is situated at the back of the OLD Taichung station and now it is in front of the NEW Taichung station. You may actually walk through the old station to the other side quite easily now. Now more dodgy subways as described by other contributors. The hotel is a bit dated but there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Yes there isn't fancy card keys to the door, it still uses keys on a fob but no big deal for me. The room was kept clean and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was very very basic. I almost ate nothing there but I wasn't expecting a full banquet neither for what I had paid. I was out most of the day I wanted a reasonably priced, clean and convenient hotel which this one had ticked all the boxes. There is also a big shopping mall next door which has lot s of places to eat, a 24 hour Carrefour supermarket. The extra came in the form of the staff. All smiley and help. Will stay again without a doubt.
This place is a bit traditional. The price is not expensive with a very large bed which can sleep for 5 adults (normal). The breakfast is good although not so many choice. The service is good as the staff there stands next to the lift and welcome you.
This hotel is a little bit older than the ones you may find around Taichung, but the staff is really helpful. I was initially not happy with the room I was assigned, as it was different from the picture advertised, but the staff made no issues and assigned me a better one. It has undercover parking available, which in Taiwan is always a plus, if you are courageous enough to use it as you will be expected to make some very tight turns into a car lift. You will nevertheless be assisted by staff while doing so. The location is convenient, close to the shopping centre and the TRA (and soon the HSR). Being an older hotel, you may find some of the furnishings a bit tired. The room fridge I was given sort of worked. Kind of. Maybe. Is it really colder inside than outside? Bed was ok and view was to another building's wall. No other complaints. Be aware that this hotel attracts a huge number of the more continental clientele.
