Uncomfortable & Unsafe in the Heat – Not as ExpectedBooked this home for a short family trip with our dogs, but it was a frustrating and unsafe experience. Upon arrival, the house wasn’t unlocked as instructed—we had to contact the owner for the code. Inside, it looked clean on the surface, but floors and surfaces were sticky and needed a deep clean. It was over 28C inside with almost no ventilation. Only two small fans were provided—one tower fan and a tiny tabletop fan. Both filthy. The main living area had a weak ceiling fan. None of the large doors or windows had screens, so we couldn’t open them without letting bugs in or risking the dogs escaping.Despite trying to cool it down, the heat was unbearable. Our dogs were panting and struggling, and people in our group were clearly overheating. To make things worse, the TV didn’t work, and one of the beds broke when someone sat on it. We contacted the owner, who gave no real solution—just to “use the fans.”We left after a few hours to find a hotel, which was very difficult with pets. The owner replied at 4 AM, more concerned about the broken bed than the heat, and refused a refund, claiming the listing said there was no AC. Both rooms have very uncomfortable Murphy beds, google them. True, but it didn’t mention the lack of screens or insufficient cooling options. For 1,500, this was unacceptable. Until the owner installs proper screens, more fans, and fixes broken items, I’d recommend staying elsewhere.

Spacious Cottage with a view

We had a fantastic stay with all the comforts of home. Nestled off to the side of the property, big windows to enjoy the view, and ample space to relax. Having a full kitchen for preparing meals makes such a difference. We were on motorcycles, so it was a convenient location to get in the various day rides in the area - with an added day to spend in Nelson.

Unfortunately, the property was very close to Highway 3A so there was constant road noise. The Murphy beds in both of the rooms were extremely creaky and hard to sleep in (they were somewhat comfortable but very loud every time you moved/rolled over) It may have been nice to have a king/queen-sized bed in the master and the option for the Murphy bed in the guest room. It was awesome to BBQ on the deck with a beautiful view, and roast s'mores over the campfire, and the hike down to the river was pretty challenging but worth it to cast my fly fishing line.

Great inside and out

We stayed in this property for 3 days while hiking and paddling in the area. We had the property to ourselves - there are 2 other cabins/chalets on site - but they were unoccupied at the time. Our cabin was cozy with a beautiful view. We enjoyed the hot tub on site and appreciated the cut logs which made making a fire very convenient. Although close to the highway - we did not find that there was enough traffic to notice or interrupt our stay at all. It was a great location

Wonderful retreat

This is a fabulous cabin just outside of Nelson. The property itself is beautiful. The cabin was spacious, clean and well stocked. There are three rentals on the property, which we were aware of prior to our stay as it is disclosed on their website and on Vrbo. We enjoyed meeting the other vacationers. My daughter uses a wheelchair and we had no issues in the one level cabin. We would definitely stay here again.

Good space with a nice view

The cottage was a good space for 4 adults and a dog. Unfortunately my husband and I had to sleep separately because the beds were not overly comfortable. I’m pleased they had a foam memory mattress top for the pullout sofa for my husband. My parents were able to share their bed but also found it uncomfortable. In the owners defence, they are Murphy beds and are not noted as being overly comfortable. The cottage is definitely equipped with everything you need from towels, utensils, pots, pans, spices etc. The location to Nelson was perfect yet far enough away that you felt like you were in a little retreat with a beautiful view., We tried to hike/walk to the “beach” but it was a little too steep so we did not get a chance to see where it was. The cottage could do with a real deep cleaning. I’m not sure if this is on the owners or if they need to check in with their cleaning crew. It’s definitely was tidy but I would not say it was clean. The cottage could do with a new BBQ and a couple of upgrades. Overall it was good.

Not what expected but overall good stay

We did NOT expect to have another home within 20 ft of our cabin. Property was not secluded 15 acres: right on the side of a highway, located on the side of the mountain, straight down to the rivers edge. I noted after the fact that the listed hot tub was shared, so that’s on me, but expected more privacy overall. The ants in the cabin were gross and that in itself made the home feel “unclean”. Hosts were great! I wouldn’t book this again knowing it’s not the secluded retreat it sounds like in the add

Cozy!

The only downside to this peaceful property was that it was quite close to the owners main dwelling… BUT the property owner is SUPER friendly, respected our privacy and was quiet. There was a feeling of safety and affirmation that if we needed anything, they were there. Snow was plowed promptly and respectfully. Would 100% recommend this quiet, peaceful, cozy place. Would definitely return.

A great place in the woods to get away and recharge. The cabin has it’s own fire pit and lots of chopped wood. The cabin is very clean and has everything needed. Nelson is a short drive if anything is forgotten or for shopping. Overall a great place to stay.
