Was just an overnight on the way down to Sinai, but everything was clean and well kept. Front desk and travel arrangement folks were very helpful when I had ATM trouble.

Staff at the hotel are marvelous. The location is hard to get to which is exactly why I like this hotel. The buffet restaurant is a little disappointing. Food is consistently bland though nicely presented. Drink service is slow. Server did not show up until I was nearly finished with my plate. On my next trip I will try the a la carte restaurants instead: Casa Taba and Marhaba.

We stayed at the Taba Hilton for five days in March 2009 and loved it. The hotel has beautiful grounds on the Red Sea (Gulf of Aqaba) with many activities--pool, entertainment, casino, children's activities, restaurants, shopping, diving and so forth. The cost of the hotel is dirt cheap because it was the site of a terrorist attack some years ago--we booked, hoping for the best, and at all times felt very safe and secure--the security is obvious. We plan to return soon with the Taba being a "destination vacation" this time (on our first visit it was at the start of a 22 day trip thru Egypt). The hotel is located next to the Israeli border (literally a few steps from the Hilton gate) and makes a great location for day trips--we did Jerusalem/Masada/Dead Sea one day and Petra, Jordan another day. The consciege at the Hilton can make arrangements (he got us a private tour to Jerusalem and saved us over $200 compared to Internet prices). St. Catherines/Mt. Sinai is also a day trip from Taba. The Taba Hilton is not really easy to get to, although it is very worth the effort--we drove from Cairo (an interesting five hour drive across the desert of the Sinai--camels, Bedouin villages, mountains). You can also hire a driver from Cairo (contact any of the rental car agencies). Other options are to fly to Taba from Manchester or another EU airports that have charters. Last option is to go via Israel (El Al has a weekly flight Paris to Eilat--at the border, 10 minutes to the Hilton).
