Wonderful location in Ortigia - peaceful and a short walk from the sea (there is a small beach where you can swim). There are lots of lovely cafes, restaurants and bars nearby. The apartment is beautiful and the host Gianluca very helpful.

Great location, huge apartment, rather dated

This apartment is HUGE, very economical, and in a fantastic location. There are a lot of pretty preserved period details throughout the apartment (ie beautiful old tiles and terrazzo sinks and pretty ceiling paint). Some of the decor feels rather tired and dated, and we lost power for 6 hours overnight, which made for a rather hot sleep without AC (also initially had some confusion re: the hot water, but got that sorted). It feels like you’re staying at someone’s nonna’s house, which is both cute and perhaps not for everyone.

Spacious but a bit tired.

A spacious apartment, but a bit tired. Not very modern. It felt a bit dark. The location was good , but a good fifteen minute walk from the parking. Arrival was fine, the managing agent communicated clearly. The worst aspect was the fishy stink from the rubbish bins situated on the communal landing just above the apartment. It did not enter the apartment, but it was not pleasant on arrival outside each time. All in all it was fine but not wonderful.

Lovely stay

We really enjoyed our stay at this apartment - very well-located on the far end of the island of Ortigia. Close to 2 different beaches, lots of wonderful food, nice cafes for coffee and aperitivo on the water just a few blocks away. The apartment is very charming and clean. It feels like a real Sicilian home. To note, we only had use of one toilet - the other didn't seem to flush, and the shower handle needs to be fixed, but worked. Could be I missed something but I did not receive any advance information about check-in or info on the island which would have been helpful prior to traveling / arriving. Driving and parking on the island is not for the faint of heart. For shopping, we found a convenience store on Via Della Maestranza just off Piazza Archimedes that was more reasonable for fruit, wine than the grocery co-op.

Ortigia peaceful apartment

The apartment is comfortable, charming and convenient to sights and restaurants. It's very quiet and beds are excellent. I was with one friend. The owner/manager was responsive, and busy so we were hesitant to reach out for suggestions. He did help us with our bags when we arrived and left, and arranged a taxi for us. We would stay there again.

Perfect week at Casa Salomone in Ortigia

My husband and I stayed one week in this beautiful apartment in Ortigia. The two bedroom apartment is spacious (my niece joined us for 2 nights) ---also very clean--and even prettier than the photos. We had everything we needed for the week--comfortable beds, great shower, nicely equipped kitchen, a lovely terrace (perfect for wine in the evenings a) and WIFI that worked! The location is perfect--we walked to shops, restaurants, the cathedral and other sights. It is only a block from a pretty little beach. It is also a short drive to a fabulous beach club in Arenella. We also went to Taormina (less than a 2 hour drive) and spent a night in this lovely resort town. Stephanie is wonderful. She was always easy to contact and made our arrival and check-in easy--directions from the airport, advice on parking, arrangements for a driver, recommendations for restaurants, etc. Our stay in Ortigia was easy and enjoyable--largely due to her efforts. We hope to visit Sicily again. If we are so fortunate, we would absolutley stay at Casa Salomone again!

Charming apartment in a great location!

We spent five wonderful days in this lovely flat in Ortegia. Stephanie was a fabulous host! She gave us directions to parking, met us at the apartment and gave us some great recommendations regarding restaurants and cafes, bakeries, the outdoor market and (most importantly) the best spot for gelato. She even offered to give us a personal tour of Noto, but there was so much to do and see in Siracusa that we ran out of time for side trips. We are already talking about another visit and will definitely stay in this flat again..

Stehanie was extremely helpful, significantly enhancing the quality of the experience and making life on the island more interesting and accessible. Take all of her reccommendations if you can, particularly for Sicilian food. The furniture in living area of the flat could be more comfortable, and there were broken chairs that could be repaired in the bedroom and living room. Door to the terrace is very difficult to get opened and created a scary experience when we were accidently locked out of the flat. We persisted and got the door opened again—it is very tricky. Leave it opened while you are on the terrace! Ask Stephanie’s excellent driver Armando, to take you to Noto! Don’t miss the Paperi (paper) museum—a hidden gem, or sunset by the sea every evening.
