Great staff and centrally located The breakfast was really good
For great views, the Beach Hotel is the best in Swakop. For comfort, restaurant choice and high-end service, go to the Strand Hotel. Hotel Zum Kaiser has fantastic soaking tubs and some rooms with partial ocean views. But the Plaza is clean, comfortable, centrally located -- and has reliable wifi, which is a rarity in this town! Not even the Strand offers that, and most places allow you 300MB or something, when the connection is working. Of course, the Plaza is hostage to Telecom Namibia like everyone else... Honestly, for a great vacation experience I'd probably take the Beach Hotel, because you can hear the waves from your room, and see the ocean and the dunes from the roofdeck -- and from your room, if you pay up for the 'sea view' room. And the Beach has an amazing breakfast. But if you need to get work done, or want to pull downloads, the Plaza's the place - and they're an easier walk to more of the local restaurants and shops, and the museum. The service is friendly and professional, and the breakfast is good. (The Beach and Strand have amazing breakfast buffets if that's one of your criteria.) The rooms are bigger than France, smaller than the USA, and entirely comfortable.
