I joined a few friends who were there before and was told my room was booked up but then I got an upgrade and loved my room!!! (Save and except the view) Also one night stand light wasn't working but honestly I love the actual room!! The breakfast was very good and varied daily. The staff was very friendly and even assisted me to get back my phone when I left it in a taxi.
I came here as part of a business trip. Usually the boss would put us up in small places where we would have to scavenge for our own food but to our surprise we were put up here. Buffet breakfast was excellent; full works with omelette station and some exotic fruit drinks and "Kaas" (really awesome cheese) The staff was incredibly helpful. English is not the first language in Suriname but the staff seemed very versed and were able to help me move around. The rooms are nice and cozy; bathroom a little small but everything worked spectacularly. (also the comp soaps are really nice) The pool is situated close to the river which may not be everyone's cup of tea but it is still a nice pool
A night out with the girls the first thing we noticed was the poor parking space and that the dinner was not at the riverside anymore due to the great chance of rain... so it was held at the balcony... music was a bit to loud so we asked to sit inside... amuse was good; Appetizer was also nice and because one of the girls doesn't eat seafood there was a salad for her which was also nice main course was not served hot but the steak was delicious, the pomme gratin heavenly and the desert was for me as a non alcoholic girl in a very good balance...The staff were very nice and friendly overall a very pleasant evening
Since I was looking for a last minute hotel to chill at the Eco Resort offered a decent rate of usd 35 on booking.com The hotel is fine and decent but has a small plunge pool with attached a sundeck. Rooms are clean but could be a bit more colorful (tropical style). Bathroom is a bit outdated with the shower curtain. But both were clean. Even you are allowed the make use of the other properties (torarica and royal torarica) both are not really on walking distance. Staff is friendly.
Eco Resort is a great place to spend your stay in Suriname. The staff was friendly and the room was so nice and relaxing. It was very quiet. If you want to go and explore night life, it is just a few blocks away (So no noise from the hotel rooms). It had a nice feel to the place. I would recommend you coming to Eco Resort. I'd go back if I go to Suriname again!
The hotel is locate a few meter far from the main hotels area. Is very quiet, surrounded by nature, with a great view to the river. Breakfast are excellent and the dishes are pretty big sized. STaff are very kind and willing to help. 100% recommended.
Eco Resort is always a good choice to stay in Paramaribo. It is close to the heart of historic Paramaribo. The room was nice, basic but clean with a small refrigirator and microwave. This river side hotel is laid back and cozy, it gives a nice tropical feel. The breakfast is still nice. We were here at a busy time and still evertbody could have a great breakfast. I will be staying here again coming September 2017!
I was locked out of my room because they accused me of smoking in the room which was not true. Then wanted to march me to the front desk like soliders to go pay before I can re-enter my room. This is a major affront to one's privacy and inability to access my belongings in the room. After coming from lunch and heading to my room, I found it locked and was forced to pay a fine for "smoking in the room." It is dead wrong to treat a paying customer this way. Shameless and crude!! When I initially arrived at the hotel, there was no one to greet me, take assist me with my luggage. After, check inn and which was 4pm. Check in there is no earlier than 4pm. Very strange. After checking in, they handed me the keys. No one told me or give me any guidance about the hotel, what if offers and where I can find things such as the pool, restaurants, breakfast area, etc. The hotel is over priced. They dropped the price to 60 US but that does not include taxes and another fee call, Room usage per day. All and all its comes out to like 85 a day. Many hidden charges. There is not much eco about the property which is "run down" now due to the depression facing Suriname. The property is at a nice location, central to all things and sits on the Suriname River.
We stayed at this hotel as part of a tour. 3 one night stops in different rooms. All rooms were similar. Although the one near the reception and bar was noisier Breakfast was good with a wide choice The pool was small but adequate to cool down in. Reception staff were pleasant and helpful. Room staff need better training on maintenance issues. One room had a shower problem and another had a door lock problem. There is a relationship with another hotel near by where you can use pool and gym facilities. More up market than the Eco if that is your want. Close to a variety of eating places although their restaurant is good too. There is a bar attached.
Actually, the hotel is very decent and the staff are nice but on many nights the hotel next door has loud music with a base that literally shakes the room. The worst two of three nights I can remember in the last twenty years. Food is mediocre but the noise is intolerable. Skip it and find a quieter place unless you love a shaking room when you sleep.
